Smiths Arms – Chester-le-StreetHad a meal here on Sunday and it was lovely, the restaurant is decorated to a high standard and the food was great especially the Thai Green Curry and Caramelized Bananas. I would recommend that you give this place a try!
Fat Buddha Asian Kitchen – DurhamThe Derent Walk is in a superb location with beautiful views over the Derwent Valley it is next to the Derwent Walk so handy to stop by and have a drink when out for a ramble. Even bowels of water out for your dog in the Summer. The food is always delicious and freshly made, my favourite is the Sizzling Mexican Chicken Fajitas there is enough on the plate for 2 people. Well worth a visit highly recommended
Derwent Walk Inn – DurhamBest restaurant in Darlington - food, service and ambience is excellent - Sally, Raymond, Wendy and all the staff make dining out a delightful experience.
Eastern Bamboo – DarlingtonHaving recently moved to Darlington, we tried most of the local Chinese restaurants and take aways but found nothing particularly good. Then a menu for Peking Chef was popped through our letterbox. It was quite far away from our house, but we decided to give it a go. I am so glad we did, Peking Chef is by far the best Chinese food in Darlington, and is as good as any we have tried anywhere else. Beautiful food, at very reasonable prices. I am happy to drive a bit further to collect from this fantastic take away. If you have not tried them yet, then I suggest you do, they also deliver. They are in the high grange/faverdale area.
Peking Chef – DarlingtonThe Centenary was taken over by new management a few weeks ago. Before that My family (eight of us) dined there at least twice a week, lunchtime and dinner time. Last Friday (16th Oct) we ordered our meals at 5.30pm as normal and had a glass of wine and waited and waited. At 6.40 the time we are usually leaving to go home, we had not received our meals and neither had the people around us. I went to the counter and asked about the hold up and was told that there was a two hour delay because the under-manager and manager were cooking the meals as the chefs had not turned up. Why was I not told anything about this when I ordered? I asked for a refund as one of our party, my grand-daughter is 16 months old and she was getting tired and grumpy. The waiter that I asked, Dan, went straight into the kitchen and asked the new manager to come and see me, this happened three times and the manager would not come out to even talk to me. I opened the kitchen door to ask him to come out to talk to me and then realised that the new 'manager' was a very lazy miserable faced ex-waiter and the undermanageress an ex -waitress. The manager refused to come out to talk to me and threatened me with the police if I didn't shut the kitchen door. I went back to my table to find that two of the meals had arrived and the waiter told us that the hold up for the rest was going to be quite a while because the chicken had been dropped on the floor. We left the restaurant and will not be returning.
Centenary The – Stockton-On-TeesHad a great night out with friends in the new Mexican restaurant in Darlington. excellent food prepared right in front of our eyes, flavour was full on and different to what you get any where else. I also sat at the bar for half an hour where the bar man told me all about Tequila. Very recommended
Voodoo Cafe – Darlingtonthis takeaway is the best in the town if not the whole of England! Egg foo young is out of this world and the chicken balls are the size of your fist! Highly recommended to go any where else would be a crime
Peking Chef – DarlingtonThis is one of the best kept secrets in the area, good food freshly cooked, specials every day. The wife is the chief and the husband looks after the front of house. Good wine by the bottle or glass, super service from the young waiters and waitresses. I define you to have a bad meal. Plus sensible prices. We have been going for 5 years
Blacksmiths Arms – Darlingtonwent to friends 40th last Friday in one of the two sumptuous private dinning rooms, it was a superb evening, staff very courteous and attentive, great wine list and food fabulous, not surprise to read in northern echo today, first pub in darlington area to be entered in new michelin guide 2010.
Bay Horse Inn – DarlingtonDerwent Walk Inn,Ebchester,DH8. The Derwent Walk Inn is totally recommended! The fabulous food is hearty and delicious with ample choices for meat eaters and vegetarians - food prices are reasonable, too. The service is superb and friendly - the atmosphere is welcoming and pleasant. Beautiful,long-distance views are beneficial due to the Derwent Walk Inn being located in stunning countryside. Booking for food is recommended but not always necessary - this is a popular inn with good reason for being so:-)
Derwent Walk Inn – DurhamGuinevere's Restaurant, The food was very good with a different choice every night. The bar service was a little slow at times but no great problem, We would definitely return to this hotel and restaurant again.
Derwant Manor – DurhamAs lover of Indian food I have dined at all the restaurant in Hartlepool, But the Taste of food in Golden Gate is far and above the rest. The dishes has a very unique and traditional taste which makes it the best. it has recently been done up so the atmosphere and the staff are always happy welcoming.
Golden Gate – Hartlepoolnice decor, not the fastest staff though. We were there for a starter, main course and coffee and it took 4 hours. I have a gluten allergy and staff didn't seem to know what i could have. Food was ok, but the meals had gluten in as i was ill. In the months since i have been i hope these problems have been addressed.
Chiquito – Durhamthe food was awful - overcooked hard greasy king prawns and the worse chicken parmasan ever - small breast covered in thick lumpy custard like sauce with lump of rubbery cheese on top. This cost forty pounds!
Ship The – Stockton-On-TeesOur experience of Bistro Italiano was totally unacceptable. Good food was ruined by rushed and extremely rude service. We went for a meal during the happy hour, arriving half an hour before the advertised 'order-by' time, making it clear that we intended to eat from the happy hour menu. However, we then found it extremely difficult to get anyone to take our order. When someone finally did come, at one minute before the cut-off time, we were told that no more happy hour orders were allowed - in fact, that rather than ordering before that time, we should have left by that time (contradicting details outlined in the menu). When we questioned this, we were told angrily by the manager to leave. After further discussion, we did manage to negotiate, but were then treated with rushed food, served with a frown. Altogether a miserable experience. We should add that we have previously had problems with Bistro Italiano overcharging, and have frequently had to contest the bill. Such a shame, given the quality of the food.
Bistro Italiano – DurhamIt's easy to see why Krimos has been open for nearly 25 years. Attention to detail is a rarity nowadays not here. The staff make for an enjoyable meal and the food is delicious.
Krimo’s Restaurant – Hartlepooli went to this restaurant for a friends birthday there was 12 of us unfortunately we waited over 30 min just for the starter we would not have minded if the place was busy but there was only us in there and to make matters worse some of the starters were cold and looked like they had been cooked 3 days ago. later on in the evening one of the waiters started on the birthday boy he did not like the idea that he gay mind u my friend is very camp but was in no way being disrespectful to any one and the waiter just started being really disrespectful towards him then would no serve his food to him i was very disappointed with the attitude and when i asked why he was like that he said he is scared incase my friend try to touch him up ( he needs to stop thinking he is specially) my friend had never felt so upset and disappointed that the night led to us just going home instead of a night out like we planned my opinion if they dont like it they should get there curry pots and nan bread n take it back to india
