Ropot

We were more than disappointed on Sat eve. Waited ages for my Champagne Cocktail which they were promoting. I was told they could not find champagne! My Crispy Duck Salad with air dried ham and cranberries was pathetic. The duck was small bits of burnt meat similar to that on the bottom of a grill pan. The air dried ham was so dry it snapped when I put my knife and fork to it. The Venison sausage Toad in the Hole starter was poor. Sausage was bland and Yorkshire pudding was SOFT and Soggy. The main courses were not much better. The French Les Slices Pinot Noir £21 was like a bottle of vinegar. That said the management were very apologetic and did not charge for starters or wine and gave me a complimentary glass of Merlot which was very drinkable. This restaurant is self promoted as a server of good locally produced food. It certainly is not that. It is a place to avoid.

My family and i use several Indian Restaurants around hartlepool for both eat in and takeaway meals and speaking from experience now i can promise you that the food served or delivered to you from these guys is top draw (fantastic). The owners take every care to ensure that you are fully satisfied with the food to which for me is great. I would go as far as to say that for certain dishes it is the BEST indian in town!!!

Golden Gate – Hartlepool
Shona

Good for food, but too pricey for mere cups of tea and coffee

Cafe Neenas – Chester-le-Street
Stuart

excellent food and friendly staff, is a really nice pub and would recommend to anyone!

Ancient Unicorn Inn – Barnard Castle

Would not recommend this restaurant at all, my wife was served 3 raw prawns at a price of 7.95 followed by a fish dish at 14.95, very small portions therefore additional veg and chips required which were extra, to add to the insult I ordered steak and kidney pie which came with very rare steak and kidney and what I can only describe as a square dumpling on the top. We were given a free drink however this did not compensate for the rare occasion we have a child free evening. I would recommend that this restaurant spends more time on producing quality rather than very pricey presentation!!

Bay Horse Inn – Darlington

Amazing food, nice and relaxed environment. When Im in Durham I always make the effort to eat at Tias. Staff very friendly and relaxed too. Thoroughly recommended. Andy, Carlisle

A truly gourmet experience! Our party of four all had the taster menu. Each never ending course was as magnificent as the next. Exemplary cuisine, recognised by the folks at Michelin and rightly so. The staff were wonderfully helpful, knowledgeable and polite without the stuffiness found in other Michelin starred restaurants. The produce was predominantly local, and showcased wonderfully. Each dish was so good it would be impossible to choose a highlight, although watching one of our guests attempting to eat the smelliest of Epoisses cheeses was rather funny! Overall, 10/10. A dining experience not to be missed!

glad to see mohujos make it to the final of the world parmo championships, shame the judges only voted you 3rd. we booked a table that night and had a excellent meal and i had a parmo, that if i say is the best and the judges dont know what they are missing. the service and staff are brilliant its a real must go to place if not just for a parmo and the lovely desserts. we will be going back many more times

Mohujos – Billingham

This is a lovely pub and the landlord and lady are very friendly. The food is very good, great value for money, and a very wide choice. The portions are also very large. The desserts are to die for !

I've eaten at Oldfield's 3 times over the last 18 months and won't be returning there again. On each occasion, I have been disappointed. First, a Sunday lunch: the roast beef was overcooked, the purple potatoes were hard and not at all tasty and the overall experience was poor. It felt like they'd thought a Sunday roast was easy and hadn't put enough care into it. Second, a midweek evening meal: the menu promised much and each of the 3 courses was acceptable but uninspired - nothing wrong as such, but not living up to the expectation suggested by the menu and not good value for money. Finally, a weekday lunch: the menu promised an appetising selection of cold sandwiches with hand-cut chips; we ordered these, which then took 30 minutes to arrive, even though the restaurant was hardly busy. The sandwiches were tasty enough, but the chips were disappointing; they evoked memories of collegiate catering roast potatoes. We received no apology for the delay in our food arriving and as such asked for the discretionary 10% service charge to be removed from the bill; the waiter did this but didn't bother to enquire why we had not wanted to pay this. 3 disappointing experiences at a 'noted eating house' that clearly has too high an opinion of itself and prices to match.

Oldfields – Durham

Forget the Black Bull, the Pott and Glass is the pub to go to if you want a unique Yarm/Eaglescliffe experience. Situated in the cute and historic tiny village of Egglescliffe, the Pot and Glass just has it all. It offers Ales on Draft, which change every 2 weeks and are always amazing! There is no music, so you can actually have a conversation with your mates! Highly recommended!!!!

Pot and Glass The – Stockton-On-Tees
Tight Undies

Best in the North East, if not the UK.Worked all over the country and tried them all from Bradford to Bournmouth and believe me the Dilshad takes some beating.Agree the toilets need a upgrade.
