New Little India – WithamWe are a group of people usually between 8-10 that meet once a month and travel to various places to try indians. We visit normally on a Thursday and went to village Indiaya on the 28th Jan 2010 which we found a steady flow of customers very clean and the food was excellent a very modern menu but if you require anything that is not on the menu they will make it for you. I can recommend the Lamb Dossa although i asked for the chutney tray as it does not come in a sauce and i became addicted to the fresh Mango Chutney. Main menu was the Karma Sutra quit hot and not for the faint hearted. and finished the meal with a fantasia dessert and a fresh coffee with drinks the meal works out to £25 per head including tip I would visit this indian again as would the rest of the clubbers and out of 5 we scored this a 4 The only thing i feel that let this restaurant down was one member of staff who seemed quite abrupt in his manner but everthing else over shadowed the evening.
Village Indiya – GraysI have tried many Indian restaurants over the years and I must say that after just one visit Farhana is now one of my favorites. Although it looks more like a take-away from the outside, with posters in the windows and a lit up sign advertising various deals inside, the food is top notch, very tasty indeed. The service was very good and the staff and owner very friendly. They do not have an alcohol license but are more then happy for you to bring your own. They also offer a take-away/delivery service and I was pleased to hear that they cover the area I live even though it is 3 miles away (I think they cover a 4 mile radius). I highly recommend this restaurant.
Farhana Indian Restaurant and TakeAway – Barkingthis chip shop is one of the local shops that is to me and out of all i really like the service and the food that they prepare just perfect i recommend every one to try 05/01/2010
The Tasty Fish Bar – HarlowVERY BAD RESTAURANT IN THE UK IV BEAN ONECE I HATED I LIKE THE FOOD BUT THE SERVICE IS VERY BAD AND DIRTY CLOSE SERVICE PLEASE DONT GO TO THE RESTAURANT AND SPEND YOU MONEY IN RUBBISH PLACE.
Anika Tandoori Restaurant and Balti – Canvey Islandcould not fault the meal i thought at the price it cant be good how wrong i was all i can say is try for yourself you wont be disappointed i promise keep it up derby digger
The Derby Digger – WickfordAmazing! Chef Mat Lucania has delivered fresh, local & fine food here.
The Rose Bud – ColchesterZizzi manages to be part of a large chain of restaurants but nevertheless keep a personable touch. The one in Colchester is a place I have visited several times with different parties (partner, parents, friends, etc). The staff has been very attentive and meals served in reasonable time, the meals themselves are always of a medium to high quality and the prices are very good for what is on offer. Obviously, there have been exceptions to the above: lukewarm Perroni beer bottles, occasionally overwhelmed waiter who takes double the time to serve food/drink, amongst others. But this is no Michelin star establishment and if one keeps that in mind and has reasonable (not low!) expectations, you won't be disappointed. I would give it 3.5 out of 5.
Zizzi – ColchesterI visit this restaurant all the time and it gets better and better!! Even when its busy the Managers get you in quick sharp and the carvery staff are always great!! All in all its a great place and at £3.50 its a real bargain too!!
The Derby Digger – WickfordI would phone and check if they actually have any food to serve before embarking on your journey to this venue. I have now had four non starter occasions, where-upon we have arrived at the derby digger, gone to the bar, started with a drinks order, to be followed by '' oh sorry, we've run out of food''. Who ever is employing the Managers of this establishment need to seriously take a look at what they are paying wages for..... Very, very, disappointed. Each time we have invited six of our friends and relatives to accompany us, and this Tuesday, 26 Aug., We had our fourth visit to this pub, to be met by no food. Thank goodness we can rely on the Toby Carvery at Runwell - They always have a hearty welcome................. I wonder how man others have had this disappointment.
The Derby Digger – Wickfordthis is a really good chippy its fresh food good value for money and the staff are amazing
UK Fish Bar – WithamI went to the Duke of Wellington in July with the family. I was absolutely shocked with the excellent changes that have been made, the staff could not have been more helpful and the food was excellent. I highly recommend this pub and we will be going back again very soon.
Duke of Wellington – LoughtonThis pub has now been totally refurbished, excellent food, great beers. I visited on a hot day in July and the air conditioning was a welcome treat. The staff were very friendly and the extensive gardens had a children,s play area to entertain the kids.
Duke of Wellington – LoughtonMy first experience (on recommendation) to this restaurant. A lovely ambience, truly like a Thai restaurant with all furnishings and greeted by Thai waitress in thai costume. Food was hot and full of the spices I experienced in Thailand. Service was quick and attention to respond to requests, immediate. This is owned by Thai woman. Many Thai restaurants I have been to are Chinese masquerading as Thai, not good. Would I go again, most definitely
