great food at last
Kings Arms Inn – ExeterIf there is any place that I would rather go or be taken to for Sunday lunch, it has to be the Rodean. The food is quality, the service so comfy and efficient you do not want to leave, and the price so reasonable you can keep going back. We describe it to friends and to guests of our holiday accommodation as Silver service in your own fine dining room. Take me there any weekend, I am always available!
Rodean – ExeterI went there for the first time with my mother. She doesn? like spicy food but we just wanted something light for lunch. We ended having the soup which was a meal in its self. The waitress was very helpful with the suggestion. I Would definitely go there again.
Wagamama – Exeterlove the place, did my steak exactly how i wanted it and even brought out two different types uncooked so i could better decide. also allowed me to deviate from the set menu slightly to accommodate my larger appetite! well worth the money.
Countess Wear Beefeater – ExeterReally really enjoyed our meal here. The menu is better than the average Italian as there is also steaks and fish dishes as well as the pizza and pasta and risottos. Lovely waiter, the place was full on a Tuesday night so I would book if you want a table at the weekend. Bill was reasonable.
Strada – ExeterI was celebrating my 30th birthday and we had a fantastic time. I was sent a complimentary birthday shooter with a sparkler and the atmosphere was 'party'. The food was plentiful and good value for money, the staff very helpful. The cocktails are fantastic i could not make up my mind so the bartender made me a special one. There is a very stylish Lounge bar downstairs which is table service, very chic and exclusive and a refreshing change from all the circuit bars.
Starz Bar and Restaurant – Exeteri went with my partner for lunch weather was hot so we only went for a light bite. but i wanted to mention the quality of the desserts my partner a selection of sorbets and ice creams a selection of four all with fabulous fresh flavours you cant buy quality like that elsewhere. and i had the passion fruit assiette , a wonderfully light mousse melt in the mouth texture and remarkable flavour, a fantastic sorbet that cut through the tart like nothing i can describe they were truly remarkable and memorable. when we asked who had created such amazing treats we were told the pastry chef -Scott Paton is only nineteen ... WOW what a talent.
Jack In The Green Inn – ExeterSit and enjoy your food in one of the plushest Chinese restaurants around. The best time to go is when they have their Buffet nights when the food is plentiful and very reasonably priced. Although the drinks are a bit on the expensive side.
Noble House – ExeterI had an excellent meal here. The best vegetarian meal for miles.
Willand Restaurant – ExeterThis is my local and has had its ups and downs. At present it is having an UP period. The landlord has been in some time now and has improved the decor and general look of the place. He has a good chef and the prices are reasonable. On his site you can see the current menu, chef's specials and make a booking. We use the restaurant regularly, for just a night out and for celebrations.
Port Royal Inn – ExeterUnfortunately when I visited Jack In The Green it was on a quiet night. I prefer a little more vibrancy. However this didn't detract from the fact that this has to be the best food in the South West. Every bite was bliss!
Jack In The Green Inn – ExeterFood 1/2 price at lunchtime - very nice surprise. Jasmine tea expensive! Service a mixture of friendly man and grumpy woman - not long to wait, though
Bamboo The – ExeterWe eat here regularly. The service is friendly with a warm olde worlde setting. The food is always good with a good choice.
Five Bells Inn – ExeterVery nice place. I recommend. The Service is the best
Bar Venezia – ExeterPortions are enormous. Really good pub grub. Can get a bit busy on a Friday evening. Steak night on a Thursday is very popular. Well worth a visit.
Huntsman Inn The – Exeternew owners Steve and Kell made our holiday , we dined everyday throughout our stay as we found something the whole family could enjoy ... a first for our kids !! 1. As for the ice cream parlour. wicked and the cheapest desserts i've ever seen. 2. real baked potatoes on the Sunday roast 3.only £4.50 for a full Monty breakfast 4. last but not least. the cream teas will certainly pile on the pounds
Tythe Cottage Tea Rooms – ExeterFantastic local pub tucked away in a picturesque village 10 miles from Exeter. Serving a range of dishes using local ingredients, great real ales, ciders and good value wines. Relaxed eating in the bar - you usually need to book ahead for Sunday lunch.
New Fountain Inn – ExeterThis is one of the few Italian restaurants around which is truly Italian. The food is cooked and served in Northern Italian style by the restaurant's Turinese chef/owner. It is the nearest thing to a genuine Italian restaurant I have experienced in the UK, and not of the formulaic variety in the manner of ASK or Pizza Express which are not Italian in their presentation if they are in food/wine.
Quo Vadis – ExeterSunday Menu: 2 courses, £31; 3 courses, £39.50.
