Samphire – Isle of ManI joined a few friends last Friday for afternoon tea. We were celebrating Mrs Mary Morris' 100th birthday. We had a first class table overlooking Lytham Green. The selection of sandwiches, scones, cakes etc was excellent and plentiful and the staff very courteous and attentive. I would certainly recommend this venue.
Clifton Arms Hotel – LythamEnjoyed a great takeaway from the Red Fort last night.
Red Fort – LythamReally love it here! Best Thai in the fylde I think.
Banthai – St. Annes-On-SeaNot the best fish and chips by far! Chips extremely soggy and fish was raw in the middle. Too late to complain by the time we got home as they had closed. I would highly recommend Garstang fish and chips Further up Much fresher and tastier!
Lightly Battered – GarstangBeen to the Buraq on many occasions the food is always excellent. Unfortunately this time the service was very slow, dispite the fact we were almost the only table being waited on all the others were serve yourself banquet. On this occasion we were disappointed. We will use this restaurant again hopefully we won't have to wait ages between courses.
Buraq – KirkhamA proper old school cafe. Great food and excellent service in a warm a friendly environment. What more could you want?! :-) I would highly recommend!
Grannys Coffee Shop – Thornton-CleveleysGreat place, fantastic food, good service. The best oxtail steamed pudding I have had.
Cartford Inn – Great EcclestonI've just read all the excellent comments about The Red Fort and sort of feel reluctant to give my comments now. The staff were very friendly and attentive and service was good. Now we do like a lively restaurant but i have to say that on the night we visted for the first time it was honestly beyond lively it was positively rowdy. We couldn't hear each other and kids were throwing some sort of jelly things accross the placeand one hit me on the neck. This isn't what we came in for with friends on a saturday night, it wasn't early either, this was all evening from 8pm, I thought the food was only ok too. We eat regularly at the sister restaurant Mogul in St Annes and that's where we will be sticking to in the future, far superior.
Red Fort – LythamWe hired the private dining room for my partners fathers 80th over the weekend and had a lovely afternoon. I had the prawns to start which were huge and in a tasty avocado and tomato salad. I then had the lamb which melted in my mouth (no mint sauce though) and for dessert I had the cheesecake which was also lovely, but I was not over keen on the peanut butter base. The wine was excellent as was the service and will definitely visit again.
Cafe Grand – Grand Hotel – St. Annes-On-SeaWent to Tiggis last week after not visiting for a while and boy did I enjoy it. The 3 of us had the set menu, 2 courses for £12.50 and we were spoilt for choice. I eventually settled on the mushrooms followed by the stroganoff and the stroganoff just melted in your mouth, the sauce was delicious and the service was excellent. I enjoyed it so much I recommended my friend to book for her 60th birthday, which she did. 24 of us went this time and not one complaint, it was a perfect way to spend Easter Sunday.
Tiggis St Annes – St. Annes-On-SeaVisited today at lunchtime. The place was empty when we arrived. However it took a while to get our starter, and forever to get our main course. Other people were served before us despite arriving after us. It seemed like one chef and one waiter were running things. In the end it took nearly 2 hours to finish our meal. Which was nice to be honest. when we went to pay we were given the kids meals free due to the wait. Won't be going back though.
Prezzo – St. Annes-On-SeaWe returned to the restaurant for the second time our first visit being on Mothers Day when we had not booked and had to wait but were not disappointed with the wait for a table when the food came. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is well cooked and presented full of flavour and fresh. This visit we tried the 4 course banquet it has lots of choice and is great value for money. The standard and quantity of food is not compromised by being on this offer and is well recommended. We will be returning again in the near future and will be taking some Indian friends to try this excellent restaurant.
Sunam Tandoori – BisphamWell the Orangery is a beautiful addition to Ribby Hall! Its bright and fresh with an orange and lime interior and huge skylight that allows the sunshine to flood in. The lunch menu was great, I could have chosen any of the dishes. Went for the chicken tagliatelle with cheescake to follow. Delicious. Good friendly service and the place was buzzing on a thursday lunch!
The Orangery At The Spa Hotel – KirkhamBirthday meal here last night. Nice welcoming atmosphere with the weather so grim outside. Ashamed to say I had one of their oversized Rustica pizzas. ''Twas very good though.
Bosco – LythamI was verbally abused and threatened by 3 yobs at the bar because I am blind but the barman did nothing. When my wife and I stood up for ourselves he threatened to bar US! No need as we'll never be back. THIS IS THE MOST UNFRIENDLY PUB IN BLACKPOOL!
