2 first class whisky Sours on Saturday night!
Capri Grand Cafe and Champagne Bar – LythamWe moved to Blackpool (ten minutes walk from Go Greek) just over a year ago and I'd been intending to try it since first noticing it. We finally got a takeaway for my birthday last month and were hooked. This evening we plan on another takeaway (or eat-in) with a visiting friend from darkest West Yorkshire before going to a firework display; we might just not make it to the fireworks.
Go Greek – BlackpoolWe had a very good experience in Ego on Saturday night. We arrived without booking and the place was packed. We were told to expect an hours wait, however the helpful manager found us a table within 20 mins. The rest of his team were very professional and helpful too. We opted for 2 platters for main and had a very nice bottle of house Rioja. There was live entertainment from an accoustic guitarist. All in all a good dining experience in an attractive looking restaurant with a buzz on a saturday night!
Ego Mediterranean Restaurant – LythamFood OK for the very reasonable price. Don't go expecting L'Enclume or The Hind Head and you will be happy. Beer choice first class and the place has a good vibe. I just wish the gents were not an hours hike away...
The Railway Hotel – LythamMy wife and I visited casino in October had a good time even though we lost ( don't play if you cannot lose). I should mention we live in USA. When we arrived home my wife found cashout ticket in bottom of handbag(where else) . She called Sandcastle who said send ticket and we will send you a cheque. WHICH THEY DID. We do not care how much we lost. We found a WINNER the Sandcasle. John d black
Grosvenor Casino Blackpool – BlackpoolVisited this chip shop many times over the past 20 years and been delighted with the service and food. However on Friday the 2nd Nov 2012 I took friends and promised them a great meal. How wrong could I be! On entering there is a sign asking you to wait here for restaurant service. We did and when they came to serve us from behind the range we were bruskly told that we shold have sat down. The menu was limited, and the food scored a poor 4/10. For 4 persons it cost £32 which is scandalous. I certainly will not be visiting again!
The Cottage at Starr Gate – BlackpoolAfter mixed reviews we visited Espanol on Saturday night, fortunately we managed to book a table as someone had cancelled. We were so glad. Upon entering the restaurant the welcome and service was excellent, the atmosphere vibrant and buzzing. The food was excellent. We are regular visitors to Spain and often enjoy tapas there. The tapas and food served at Espanol was every bit as good as you will get in Spain. We had a thoroughly enjoyable night, so much so we have booked again, and are taking our friends along this time. Well done Espanol !
Espanol – Poulton-Le-FyldeJust returned from an early evening meal with my wife and little boy, and I have to say we were incredibly impressed. There was a nice, friendly welcome and we felt very relaxed. As this was our first time eating at a Gurkha restaurant the dishes and the ideas behind Nepalese cuisine where explained and we felt confident ordering. The starters tasted absolutely wonderful. I had Momo (dumplings) and my wife had the chilli panneer. Both were just the right size and set us up for the main course. On ordering the main course we were given some helpful advice as we both ordered the same dish. We changed it to the recommended favourite and were glad that we did. The original chicken dish we selected was nice, but the lamb dish we ordered on advice was absolutely delicious. Our little boy had a starter fish dish brought as a main course, which he judged "lovely". All in all this was a wonderful visit, and one we intend to repeat. The food was great (I can highly recommend Nepalese food from this), the portion sizes just right, the value phenomenal and the atmosphere warm and friendly. The little one was made to feel right at home. A must visit for everyone on the Fylde who likes good food.
Gurkha Legends – FleetwoodAli and his staff are great, friendly, always remember us and their food is always grade A. Recommend that anyone pops in and watches them get to work in the kitchen preparing delicious food for a very reasonable price.
East n Spice – GarstangWas tempted to try this pub by the two for one offer. Unfortunately the food really didn't live up to my expectation. I'm afraid I won't be going back unless it gets better. Audrey
The Eagle at Weeton – KirkhamCalled into this restaurant on a wet windy sunday afternoon and it made our day, fantastic food, attentive staff, really comfy, we would def come back and like others we live about half an hour away but its well worth the travel :)
Ashiana Tandoori Restaurant – KirkhamFantastic meal was the perfect ending to a great day in Blackpool for all 25 of us !! The staff were lovely and the food first class.Wish it was closer to home.
Taylors Fish And Chips – BlackpoolVery nice place the food wasn't fresh Friday night very very small curry dishes friendly waiters very disappointed to Gina hair in my food because I was very hungry would not visit again the end
Buraq – KirkhamVisited Chu's last night. Fantastic food but the experience was really soured by the oppressive waiting staff. at least every 2 minutes someone was hovering round the table and we felt that we were being rushed into finishing our food. It was not exactly busy and had plenty of empty tables so it was not that they needed a fast turnaround time. When mentioned to the manager on paying the bill he just shrugged his shoulders and was not interested. There are too many places doing great food locally so the customer experience is very important and as such we won't return.
Chus – LythamJust ordered a take away and was really disappointed! We had duck pan cakes which were ok! but crispy king prawns in batter were not edible and chicken chow main very sickly and slimy! Paid £17.90 for the pleasure and still hungry :-(
Furamar, The – BlackpoolFirst time in a while at Suda and – lo and behold – it had doubled in size! Obviously they have bought next door and converted into a ‘proper’ restaurant and bar. Very nicely done and the food was as good as ever. I had the pork and cucumber salad, Thai-style (ie very hot) and my partner had the Musselman curry which was very tasty. Singha beer on draught too.
Suda Thai Cuisine – Poulton-Le-FyldeAm I allowed to come and buy a takeaway as you barred me due to an argument with the woman at reception
Gurkha Hotel, Restaurant and Bar – BlackpoolMy husband and I have been to the Capri in Lytham four times now and each time it does not disappoint. The surroundings are elegant but homely and the service cannot be faulted. We had the chicken satay and I must say it was exceptional - succulent marinated chicken with a really tasty sauce. 10 out of 10 - Well done!
