Don't have the hamburger.
Poor value for money accompanied by poor service for a large group 17 who have decided to choose else where for their annual meal. Dessert waitress didn't know the dessert menu. Luckily we checked the bill as that was wrong in their favour. Orders forgotten until reminded coupled with a complacent head waiter who probably doesn't realise he has to up the game of his team in terms of customer service. Plicating us with a couple of free dishes isn't the answer guys get it right to start with.
Portofino – Lythamit was nice chilled sunny Friday evening. the roads were busy and the sky was blue. i cud hear a magpie twittering from a near by tree it looked like an oak tree but cud of been a fir tree????? there was a group of about 15 of us all raring to go to demolish the buffet. we got in the and was greeted by a nice little thai bird. We was escorted to our seat and was told to go help ourselves i got a drink it was a pint of coca cola it cost £2 i thought this is strange it only cost £1.20 in a bar or pub. we made our way to the buffet bar thingy and i indulged in some MEAT!!!!!!!! especially the ribs mmmmmmmmm. the chow mien was quite nice but overall i was a bit disappointed the food was not as nice as the previous visits i have made there. cant wait to go next week with chop john adamski chris and martin (quilt / vegetarian) hopefully the food will be nicer. your sincerely Steven Coles
Gurkha Hotel, Restaurant and Bar – BlackpoolHave been to Java twice recently, once on a weeknight and once with a large group of people. It is very relaxed and a great place to sit and watch the world go by! The service was great and the food excellent, the food and drink is very reasonably priced too, which is a nice change in Lytham! Will definitely be revisiting on a regular basis!
Java – LythamExcellent Chinese, been using this Chinese since we moved to Blackpool 25 yrs ago
Oriental Chop Suey Bar – BlackpoolMy wife and I and 2 friends recently ate at the Hand and Dagger near Salwick. Last time we'd been in - several years ago - it was garishly lit, drowned in loud rock music and almost empty. Last night it was pretty good. It was reasonably full (perhaps because it was Quiz night) but we had no trouble finding a table or being served. The menu looked decent and had some interesting variations on classic pub grub. The specials board had plenty of choice on it and some tempting dishes. I had my "benchmark" dish of steak and ale pie (their variation was to add some mushrooms), which was a slice of a deep plate pie rather than an individual pie or a pot with a fluffy puffy top. Nice chips and reasonable veg with a delicious gravy. My wife has salmon in hollandaise sauce, nicely cooked, with veg and freshly cooked new potatoes (not dry and brown like you sometimes get). Our friends had fish and chips (reasonable batter, nice fish) and scampi and chips (decent number of scampi pieces). The chips were nice and crispy with light insides, the vegetables were nicely cooked, perhaps just a little too soft for me but I do prefer my veg very al dente. The beer was well kept and there was a decent range of real ales. The standard red wine was decent quality, and the glasses were 175ml, a reasonable size to have 2 of and still be able to walk out (for the non-drivers). All in all, a pretty good pub meal. Reasonable value food at around £8 each on average. We'll go again.
Hand and Dagger – Kirkhama group of 4 of us went to toast Sunday lovely place food was served look warm not once was we asked if everything was ok plus a guy in shorts working behind bar let the place down a bit looks nice food standards low should be hot and service levels were poor tables not cleared place wasn't busy so no excuse
Toast Cafe Bar and Grill Restaurant – BlackpoolHad a meal for four here Easter Saturday, had a lengthy wait but boy was it worth it I highly recommend the Garlic mushrooms with blue cheese topping, the roast lamb, mash and veg with scrumptious gravy and plenty of it, and the cherry pancake with ice cream although the lemon meringue pie is to die for . It didn't break the bank neither good value for great food. Nice atmosphere with friendly staff and you can take dogs
Kenlis Arms Hotel – GarstangThe sun was out so we thought about where to go to catch it and eat. The Grand was perfect with its al fresco terrace facing the setting sun. Also the taps style food was exactly what we required on a sunny day. Service was friendly and professional.
Cafe Grand – Grand Hotel – St. Annes-On-SeaDREADFUL- visited this place for the first time yesterday Easter Monday 2009. Place was busy but not packed waited over 1 hour for 4 main courses- mainly salads and sandwiches. Food arrived in dribs and drabs some of the plates were dirty and one had a piece of ham stuck on the back of plate from a previous meal urgh!!! Sent 2 of the plates back and got a refund for those. Service was so slow and appallingly disorganised that I would wholeheartedly recommend going anywhere else. AWFUL!
Th’Owd Tithe Barn – Garstangwould not recomend food served cold twice never eaten spoke to owner who's attitude stank did not care what was being served and admitted food was not warm but no apology poor service and bad customer service from the guy who owns building and toast better off eating in greasy spoon food at least is hot and edible and have some sort of catering management skills
Toast Cafe Bar and Grill Restaurant – BlackpoolGood wine, good food, good service, a brilliant all rounder.
Michael Wan’s Mandarin – BlackpoolVERY GOOD FISH AND CHIPS.WELL RECOMMENDED.
Thornton Fisheries – Thornton-CleveleysEnjoyed my simple dinner at the Grapes in Wrea Green last night. I spend a lot of time at fancy restaurants so its nice to have scampi and chips sometimes!
Grapes – KirkhamOur first visit to Greens this evening. Simply well cooked food, superbly presented, in pleasant surroundings, with a really warm atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and friendly but never pushy, the menu choices are varied. One thing that did not vary was the quality - excellent throughout. Our first visit will not be our last.
Greens Bistro – St. Annes-On-SeaAs a frequent dinner of lavish restaurant across the uk I have to recommend Pipers as being one of, if not one of my best dining experiences for fine food. The food is outstanding with a lovely warm, welcoming, traditional yet modern feel to the restaurant. I now dine there quite often and recommend it to anybody who has the same passion for fine dining as I do. Using local produce and high quality meats pipers always delivers. Service is fantastic and chef Ian Piper does not disappoint with this beautifully set dining experience. I'll keep coming back!!........
Pipers – GarstangWe first visited Twelve in the middle of 2008 and have since become regulars. This is without doubt the best restaurant in the Fylde. The quality of the food is absolutely superb, using lots of local produce. The fillet steak (from the bowland forest) is the most flavoursome and tender I have tasted anywhere, and the venison is equally good. Caroline (who runs the show) is a superb hostess, and cannot do enough for you. I would recommend Twelve to anyone. If you don't enjoy it I'll pay for your meal!!
Twelve – Thornton-Cleveleysi am a regular at this pub for nearly 15yrs .the couple that run it now are the best it has ever been. they run a tight ship, but are always friendly the staff are well trained smart and very nice. i have never been in a pub so clean and well kept. it is nice that the landlady makes time to try and speak to all, and is not afraid to clean tables and pour pints
