VERY GOOD FISH AND CHIPS.WELL RECOMMENDED.
Thornton Fisheries – Thornton-CleveleysEnjoyed my simple dinner at the Grapes in Wrea Green last night. I spend a lot of time at fancy restaurants so its nice to have scampi and chips sometimes!
Grapes – KirkhamOur first visit to Greens this evening. Simply well cooked food, superbly presented, in pleasant surroundings, with a really warm atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and friendly but never pushy, the menu choices are varied. One thing that did not vary was the quality - excellent throughout. Our first visit will not be our last.
Greens Bistro – St. Annes-On-SeaAs a frequent dinner of lavish restaurant across the uk I have to recommend Pipers as being one of, if not one of my best dining experiences for fine food. The food is outstanding with a lovely warm, welcoming, traditional yet modern feel to the restaurant. I now dine there quite often and recommend it to anybody who has the same passion for fine dining as I do. Using local produce and high quality meats pipers always delivers. Service is fantastic and chef Ian Piper does not disappoint with this beautifully set dining experience. I'll keep coming back!!........
Pipers – GarstangWe first visited Twelve in the middle of 2008 and have since become regulars. This is without doubt the best restaurant in the Fylde. The quality of the food is absolutely superb, using lots of local produce. The fillet steak (from the bowland forest) is the most flavoursome and tender I have tasted anywhere, and the venison is equally good. Caroline (who runs the show) is a superb hostess, and cannot do enough for you. I would recommend Twelve to anyone. If you don't enjoy it I'll pay for your meal!!
Twelve – Thornton-Cleveleysi am a regular at this pub for nearly 15yrs .the couple that run it now are the best it has ever been. they run a tight ship, but are always friendly the staff are well trained smart and very nice. i have never been in a pub so clean and well kept. it is nice that the landlady makes time to try and speak to all, and is not afraid to clean tables and pour pints
Mere Park Hotel – BlackpoolThis was the second time my wife and I had visited Buraq, the first time was exceptionally good. While our experience was similar this time, I thought it wise to add another review for comparison and to show that Buraq is consistently good, which is important with similar priced menus available at many eateries across the Fylde. We opted to dine from the £9.50 (at the time of writing this) Sunday “eat as much as you want” banquet menu. It would seem rude not to. We were greeted by a member of staff on a break outside and again greeted in a similar pleasant manner upon entering the door. We were seated in the spacious waiting area and given the two available menus and asked what we would like to drink while we looked at the menu. There was a tray of pickles/dips on the table as we were seated and we were advised our starters would only be a few minutes. My wife asked for a couple of popadums which were provided free of charge, as was the jug of iced water (without asking). While I unfortunately cannot remember the names of all the dishes that were provided (it was a fixed menu, but you got everything on it) I can describe them. The starters consisted of (each) two mushroom pakoras, a lamb puri in a chapatti, a lamb kofta type kebab shaped as a burger, side salad. The mushroom pakoras were excellent (and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t like mushrooms), not greasy at all, very crisp. The lamb was excellent, I could have eaten it all day. Bar the fried pakora, none of the starters were hot, all warm (temperature not spice) likely because cold plates were used due to the salad. Buraq would be wise to take note and serve the salad in a separate bowl and use hot plates if they can. The main courses were: lamb , a sweet and sour chicken tikka dish, chicken jalfrezi, lamb dhansak (with pineapple), accompanied by boiled onion rice, a spinach and paneer dish, and a fairly large naan bread each. The lamb was excellent, sweet and coconutty, just as my wife likes, the jalfrezi was a medium temperature (spice wise), the accompaniments were all absolutely fine. All were piping hot. My wife finished with a strawberry ice cream (plenty of it, about 5 scoops) which we were not charged for (but in case that was an oversight, we left a large tip). The meal was rounded off by a coffee and a tea and two complimentary drinks of our choice (we chose brandy). The whole total (which included two pints of Cobra lager).. £26.50. A superb price, excellent and swift service again, and more than we could eat. We couldn’t have asked for more (except hot starter plates). Keep it up Buraq, we think you are the best Indian in the area by far. Apologies to Buraq for the mess my wife left on the tablecloth from the curry :)
Buraq – KirkhamHad a marvellous lunch, 2 courses for £5! Great value as the food was simple yet very tasty. The place is very busy at the moment so obviously many agree with me.
The Broughton Inn – GarstangFood was fantastic, all so fresh and tasty. We had the full fish and were surprised when it arrives as it was a full seabass - without the inflated price tag. We are big fish fans and do not mind travelling to get to a good restaurant - now we don't have to. The wine wasa perfect temperature and a very nice sauvignon blanc which turned out to be the house wine @ £9 something a bottle! Great service, lovely genuine people. It's not in the best location but they have certainly made the most of the restaurant, if it was in a great location though you'd probably be paying an absolute fortune so prefer it the way it is.
Sabai Sabai Thai Restaurant – BlackpoolExcellent service, contemporary comfortable surroundings, unbeatable quality and variety, and reasonably priced. All in all, the only place to go for Indian cuisine. We have now tried approximately 100 dishes since its emergence and have not had an ordinary meal to date.
Meherin – Thornton-CleveleysWe visited the restaurant for our first time last Friday, as we arrived we were greeted by the extremely friendly staff who were a spectacular to us all evening. The food was outstanding, hats off to the head chef, my husband went for the kleftico and I went for the melitzana, we thoroughly enjoyed both dishes and the Greek yogurt sundae for dessert topped off a delicious meal. If you want good quality food the olive tree is the place to go!
