As always very good service, good food and very enjoyable, very good value for money we have been a couple of times and never been disappointed

We had a wonderful time. The staff looked after us really well. We felt welcomed and accommodated. The meal was hearty and very tasty. The band playing were great as well

Had Sunday lunch with my father, wife and daughter. Excellent quality Sunday Roasts and generous portions too. Very friendly atmosphere and the service was excellent too. Great to have lunch in this great traditional pub and then a walk by the sea afterwards.

We had Sunday Roasts, which were superb. The portions were excellent, tasted wonderful and were good value for money. I would highly recommend The Platform Tavern. Good food, good selection of cask beer and reasonably priced.

Terrible. Fatty meat. Pasta and pizza awful. Not all food stations were open. Had a cup of water in a child’s cup. Most of all I booked after looking up the prices online and was £14.99 per person. When we arrived it was £18.99 per person. I told the person that took my money that you need to update your website with prices. She said that is down to the customer. Will never go back.

Great food. Really great. Big portions. Friendly staff. We were a party of 4 and as others have said we all felt cold which meant it lacked a little in atmosphere. It was also surprisingly quite.

The Chequers is a wonderful pub I would highly recommend. The atmosphere is always amazing. We come at various times but always for the Rugby when the atmosphere is incredible. The staff are always so welcoming and helpful and the food is great. 100% recommend at all times.

Have visited a few times and I find it’s good value for money but some things are watery or left out too long and gone dry. There was confusion regarding my booking where some of the party wasn’t there and we ended up paying for everyone which was easily sorted. I find the bar staff quite rude as I am always standing along the bar and one time I didn’t I was asked to not queue behind the person and move but my last visit people were stood where I had with nothing mentioned. The drinks are very reasonably priced.

We had a lovely evening at the Platform Tavern on Saturday. Very tasty food, good wine, fabulous band, and really friendly staff.

This is our 3rd time here but the first 2 times we went at lunch time. Which was lovely and had no problems. But we went as a family of ten which we booked for 6pm. The table was clean and set out. But it was so busy there lots of trays of food empty and when we asked for more they said it's just coming but it didn't. Also there was no plates in the areas were plates should be so had to keep asking for a plate. Then when we went for dessert there was no bowls. We paid alot more for the evening buffet then we do at lunchtime but we will not be coming back again for the evening it was not worth the money.

Food was amazing as always. Staff where very good at getting rid of used plate on the table. Will definitely go back.

Good basic Food and reasonably priced

The staff were amazing! The waiter was great with removing plates, the bartender was really nice and gave really good options for their beers, and the food was incredible!

Great to be back again ! Band was excellent ( Alex Wilson w great female singer ) and ambiance superb as always! Perhaps my burger was a little over cooked and dry so not the best, but 2 friends loved the pie of the day ( chicken &bacon ) and other member rated his f&cs ! All in all, a really good evening!

We went as a mixed aged family group., for my granddaughter 12th birthday. Service was without fault. We all enjoyed our meal. And will return.
