We have driven from Midhurst to the A3 Petersfield direction, passed The Half Moon many times. Never stopped. Yesterday we decided to book for lunch with our friends. The staff were lovely, happy, very friendly. The young man (from Albania?) was wonderful! Great menu, varied and very reasonable. We met at 1230 and left at 1540! Lovely surroundings. We will be back soon!

Really impressed. Lovely venue, lovely staff, lovely food. Definitely would recommend. :0)

Average meal really, could have been tastier for the cost.

Visited this pub after reading a trip advisor review and wasn’t disappointed, the meal was one of the nicest we’ve had for a while and the steak in particular I couldn’t fault, service was excellent from friendly accommodating staff

My wife and I had an evening meal at The Chequers on 6 July 2022. We haven't visited the pub since we moved from Lymington more than thirty years ago. The range of drinks is superb as is the service. Food wise my wife had the lamb shank and I had the belly pork with black pudding. Both meals were exceptionally good. Both of us opted for new potatoes and fresh vegetables rather than chips and salad. Everything was extremely well cooked and presented. We would both recommend The Chequers without hesitation.

2nd time we have visited and both times we have really enjoyed our meals. Staff are very friendly and service just right. We visit family in Waterlooville and found this pub by chance. We will continue to pop in for supper all the time we get a good experience.

We had a fabulous night at the sp bar with friends, the cocktails were fabulous, the service was great - it was really busy too It was a louder then I would of liked as we couldn’t hear our conversations very well . But that didn’t stop us enjoying ourselves

My partner and I have booked a table at The Platform Tavern for dinner with friends on Saturday night multiple times now. Every time, the food is excellent, the service is stellar, and the live music is just what we were looking for. We will definitely be returning!

We had a excellent stay at The half Moon . Nice large Bedroom Friendly helpfull staff.It was our wedding annerversary so we both had the special. I had tuna and Salad with a side of chips and my husband had Steak pie and mustard mash with veg. All very tasty.Followed by the cheese board and I had home made ice cream.We had wine. Not cheap but enjoyed.

My husband and 2 kids visited the Platform Tavern as yesturday during our trip to Southampton. What can I say other than wow! The ambience was great, quirky old world pub with culture. We intended to have Sunday dinner but was swayed by the kind host suggestion of having the pie. It was hands down the best pie we had ever had. My son had the pork loin roast dinner and he was very impressed. On top of the delicious food we were pleasantly surprised by the live band which I would describe as a mix of Sting and Santana. We had real ale and wished we had more days and nights in southampton to go to one of the best pubs we had ever been to. Also hats off to the staff who were friendly, and made a fuss of the kids ans made the experi3nce even more pleasurable.

A real discovery. Came for the music on a recommendation, but never expected to get food of this quality. The staff are great if a little rushed at times, but that's to be expected in such a bustling and vibrant environment. You will not be disappointed.

Nice location, good food and initially friendly and engaging staff until half way through our main course and elderly lady in an apron decided that she wanted to place a Reserved name tag and plaque on our table for the next guests. We found this rude and unnecessary and almost a signal for us to ensure we vacated by the time shown on the new name placing. Such a shame as I’m sure she had no idea on how rude we found her actions.

Had a meal here recently as passing through after a nice day out but sadly disappointed. We have been here before and really enjoyed it. Staff were all lovely and helpful and the location is beautiful with their garden. The food was really salty and disappointing, we had 3 kids meals which were covered in salt and the burger was burnt. I had sausage and mustard mash with onion gravy and yet again it was covered in salt to the point you could see it all over the sausages and gravy. My parter had steak and it was nicely cooked just cold. Service itself was rather slow and the children got very hungry which then made it worse when they couldn't eat their meals as they could not handle the amount of salt.

Popped in for dinner one night and the steak and ale pie was brilliant. I would say the food is really good gastro pub food and probably the best pub food in Southampton, even if the pub has a strong shabby chic vibe.

had 'yet another 'Sunday roast and a great gig at the platform tavern the roast pork loin was tasty and nicely cooked the same for roast sirloin of a beef lovely selection of veggies with the roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. great value with the live music iv been a regular for nearly 25 years.

Great menu, I’m usually quite picky but I was literally spoilt for choice. Had the pie and it was delicious. Definitely want to return for another meal and to make room for pudding! Clean and nice staff too.
