Really enjoyable food prior to going to the mayflower. Catered for all the family.
The Quarter Lounge – SouthamptonBooked for 5:15 pm before theatre. Bit of a mix up with the starters and mains but offered refund and the food was delicious. Did get busy so would book early if you need to leave for a show. Would definitely return.
The Quarter Lounge – SouthamptonDelightful traditional pub. The food was great and reasonably priced. The service was exceptional, friendly, polite and attentive. Well worth a visit.
The Chequers Inn – LymingtonLovely warm welcome , food simple, well cooked , tasty pub classics . We enjoyed our lunch but the pub is really in need of refurbishment or at least redecoration.
The Chequers Inn – LymingtonMy wife and I had dinner at The Platform yesterday. She had a salad and I had a seafood linguine, one of the signature dishes. We both enjoyed it very much. The cuisine and the ambiance were very good and the staff were helpful and friendly. Many pubs try to achieve the standard of cuisine you expect in a good restaurant but The Platform succeeds.
The Platform Tavern – SouthamptonVisited again and not disappointed. Very busy bank holiday Sunday but we had booked ahead. Lovely sea food, generous portions and all served with a smile under great pressure!
The Chequers Inn – LymingtonLove this bar. Always a warm welcome and lovely cocktails served by staff who genuinely seem to be enjoying themselves too. Carribean night was great with really delicious food.
The SP Bar – AndoverVery attentive staff and patient as our guests were late!!
The Platform Tavern – SouthamptonFood was excellent. Service with a smile. Will definitely book again
The Half Moon – PetersfieldFirst time at the SP bar and we had a lovely time. It was quiet but that allowed for super service and a chance to have a great chat together. The cocktails were tasty and we loved the bar snacks too. Definitely will be back.
The SP Bar – AndoverBooked a 17:45 table before a show at the Mayflower. Waiting staff were excellent and good range of drinks and food available and a nice ambience! Our starters were delivered in good time and were very tasty - our mains took a long time to arrive - we had to chase them twice and they finally arrived just after 19:15 by a very embarrassed and apologetic waiter. We ate what we could in the time we had and it was excellent but sadly rushed. We were offered a significant refund by the management and further apologies - the apologies were accepted, the refund declined as these are challenging times for all especially in the service industry! I would happily eat there again and highly recommend the venue - the restaurant is upstairs so not easily accessible to all but good food and good choice of alcohol - just have a reservation before 17:45 and watch the time if you have a theatre reservation!
The Quarter Lounge – SouthamptonOur first visit which won’t be the last. There were five of us, two adults and three 11-13 year olds. The staff were superb! Helpful and friendly and nothing was too much bother . We ordered 2 carbonara which came as we’d asked with linguine instead of spaghetti. Two boys shared an adult pizza and had sides of chips and garlic bread. One had a child’s meal - first course, drink, pudding. The one drawback was a very long wait after ordering before the food arrived . It took nearly an hour and this was quite a bit longer than I’d expect and also there was no warning of this. The carbonaras were exceptional. The most delicious sauce , beautifully cooked linguine and bacon, chicken etc. The garlic ciabatta which came with it was also exceptional. Not stinting in garlic or butter, just perfect. The child’s meal, chicken goujons was clearly slices of breast and not a cheaper cut . The pizza and sides were devoured by the boys. There was then a very long wait again sadly before the dishes were cleared- we stacked them ourselves in the end - and when the server came I explained we were running on a short time budget by that stage and needed the child’s included scoop of ice cream plus a scoop for each of the others who’d shared the adult pizza, really quickly. The young server said that would be ok but it clearly wasn’t and 20 minutes later we were forced to ask for the bill and remove the extra ice creams from it. I was very unhappy at seeing that instead of one scoop to match the included one, I’d been charged £4:95 each for the adult ice cream which included a compote. I know that this was on the menu but thought common sense would prevail and a child’s scoop for each, just like the included one, would have been ordered. So we left cash on the table and exited . Luckily our memory of the meal is the gorgeous carbonara but the waiting times do need to be shortened especially when you consider that in that area of town , most customers around the 5:30 - 6:30 start are those wanting a ore theatre meal. I will certainly visit again but probably not with youngsters who were bored and hungry for far too long. Food is four/five star Service is four star Waiting times are two to three star
The Quarter Lounge – SouthamptonGreat food and amazing service. Will definitely go again when in Southampton.
The Quarter Lounge – SouthamptonWe visited the chequers for a mid week lunch, we sat in the restaurant area and was served by 2 very pleasant ladies, the prawn cocktail was a very good size and the ham egg and chips was lovely, the ham being decent thick cut home cooked ham, we would certainly return
The Chequers Inn – LymingtonHad a late Sunday lunch and whilst the restaurant was quiet the staff were very friendly and attentive. Food was good but menu a little limited. Given the current hot weather a couple of specials - some interesting salads might have been nice.
The Half Moon – PetersfieldLovely pub, nice friendly staff within walking distance from campsite. Asked to exchange salad for garlic bread and was told they would do what they could depending who the chef was and if they could ask him.....we didnt get told so no garlic bread was served, lasagne wasn't great but roasts were good, although the mains were served before we'd finished our starters.
The Chequers Inn – LymingtonOur first visit to the Chequers and we were all delighted with the Pub. Service was good, the menu had a very good range of options, all the meals were excellent, we all went away very happy. Would recommend.
The Chequers Inn – LymingtonWe revisited The Chequers having happy memories of previous visits, this time with our young family and what a great Sunday lunch it was. The sun shone as we were guided to the garden and the children were all happy with their choices of a roast dinner. Despite being busy the wait time was acceptable and before we knew it we were tucking into the best Sunday lunch we have had out in ages. The empty plates were a clear sign it was a winner! Staff were very welcoming and pleasant - well trained, organised, even though busy. Drinks choice was okay too. A hidden gem, we will return!
