Dirty environment. Drunk, antagonistic barman. Food poisoning after eating their lunch. Avoid at all costs.

Once again, during our travels, The Whitnash Curry Lovers were keen to sample a local Indian restaurant. Luckily for us, we happened upon Romney Spice. First impressions were very favourable - certificates and awards posted in the window, so why not?We were greeted in a very friendly manner and shown to our table. The staff were well mannered and extremely keen - indeed, every waiter in the establishment came to say hello during the course of the evening! The food was well presented and tasty with help being given regarding 'new to us' dishes.Very reasonably priced although, as usual, drinks were a little on the expensive side. If there was a downside, we felt that we had to wait a bit too long between courses as the restaurant was not extremely busy. That said, the overall experience was very good. A laugh was had by all when we were handed the Xmas Menu which wished 'A Merry Christmas and a Phosphorus New Year ' would not hesitate to re-visit if in the area. The Curry Monster On behalf of The Whitnash Curry Lovers

In 2003 my husband and i stayed at the Stone house and the hosts son in law drove us to the Plough for a really lovely meal. We were joined by a very pleasant Japanese couple who wre also staying at hosts B and B. When we left after 2 nights the host wore a jersey one of his family members had bought from New Zealand for him. It was a thrill for us after 13 years plus we still remember the kindness of the hosts where we stayed and the lovely evening at the Plough. We have good photos so greetings from N Z ! Happy memories of our stay in Langley.. J and J Kerslake

ianmanley.co.uk@ianmanleyThe Ambrette, MargateFabulous Indian fusion food that is not to be missed. Call me lazy, but I never try to find out too much about a place before I go there, apart from the obvious basics of what type of food it does, and where it is. That’s not saying I turn up blind, but I do try to pick and choose restaurants on recommendation rather than extensive internet trawling. I’d already been tipped off about Margate’s Ambrette when I bumped into Jacqui, an old colleague who lives in the town. “I’m thinking of going out for a meal when we’re in Margate for the weekend,” I said, “I can’t remember what it’s called though, something beginning with A, it does Indian fusiony type food.”“Oh the Ambrette,” she said, as quick as a flash. “It’s amazing, definitely go.”And that was that. I was booked. And hooked. Because she was right. It was amazing. So if you’re short for time, then please stop reading. You’ve already got the gist: I really liked it and think you should go there. Oh hello, you’re still here? Wonderful. Then I shall continue. I never think that Monday lunchtime is a terribly auspicious time and day to go out for a meal. It’s just not as buzzy as, say, a Thursday is it? Especially in Margate, which is said to close on Mondays due to the Turner Contemporary having the day off to dust down its Mondrians. When we walked in to the restaurant my worst fears were confirmed - we were the only people there. Still, the menu looked good and it meant the service was speedy and super attentive. But within 15 minutes a party of three arrived, then a foursome, then a couple celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary, another foursome and one more couple – Margate wasn’t shut, we’d just got there a bit early. The lunch menu was nice and simple, offering one course for £8.95, two for £14.95 and three for £19.95. We’d eaten out the night before at The Minnis Bar

The Ambrette – Margate

Appalling. Bought 2 large portions of chips, saveloy, sausage in batter, portion of mushy peas. Got home, opened bag, only one portion of chips which certainly couldn't be classed as "large", saveloy still cold and uncooked in middle. Not the first time I've had bad service here, probably my fault not learning from previous mistakes. Will NOT be spending another penny in this awful establishment.

Hawkinge Fish Bar – Folkestone

Great food and lovely staff. Fully recommend Yama's to friends and family . Gets a five stars out of five from me :)

Yama’s Thai and English Cafe – Margate

Today myself and a friend visited the Cosmos resturant for lunch and I must say I was very disappointed. The food was absolutely awful and a waste of money and there were also no baby changing facilities so therefor I had to change my baby on the freezing cold, hard tiled floor which he found distressing as he was crying the whole time. Myself and my friend are so disappointed and will not return again or even recommend your resturant. We are so upset that we spent money on food we didn't enjoy!

Cosmo Oriental Restaurant – Chatham

Unique stylish modern decor. Welcoming staff. Prompt service. Fantastic authentic Thai food creatively presented. Amazing value.

Giggling Squid – Sevenoaks

Excellent food, atmosphere, friendly staff have been many times and will keep going! Best place on high street.

Epheseus Restaurant – Orpington
Sergio Never

Just avoid, I'm pretty sure that you are not going to enjoy your meal, as I didn't. Staff are just dreadful. Long waits while the restaurant is basically empty. Moreover, inside the ambience has this dirty old feeling aspect. They don't like children, basically, they expect them to behave as grown ups. Shocking. Advice, just go across the street, there is a much better restaurant at the same price level - I do regret...

The Toll Bridge – Sandwich

Over priced poor quality burnt chips, had better at burger bar.

Burger Brothers – Deal

Went for a family meal on Saturday my husband ordered the crispy batter fish chips and mushy peas when it arrived the fish was flat full of grease and not much batter. On complaining he was told they would cook him another piece of fish, the same piece of fish come back with black bits on it and even more grease. Needless to say he could not eat it so sat at the table with nothing to eat. Will not be returning there ever again and certainly will not be recommending it.

Miller and Carter – Bexley
