The BEST roast I’ve had that’s not been cooked by my mum. I’ve been coming to the Lake District on holiday for years and never fail come and visit to have something to eat or drink. If anyone asks where to go in the lakes I always tell them a must try is the food at the pheasant inn. Homely and traditional British food, cooked fantastically. Just what you want after a day walking on the fells. Staff are always so warm and accommodating, and walking distance if you’re staying in Keswick. Looking forward to booking my table for my next trip!

It was ok. Unfortunately not many beers on hand to choose. Service was OK but nothing above or beyond to say, food was fine. If perfectly honest the whole experience was not as good as previous years, just something missing. I suggest you start with your front of house engagement.

First time visiting on a Monday evening, the food, service and atmosphere were great. Enjoyed it so much we booked our second visit on the Wednesday.

Amazing food, the Sunday lunch was delicious

We made two bookings. One for Sunday lunch, which was superb. The second for the following Friday evening. The food then was also very good. The service was attentive and friendly. We would certainly recomend and would intend to book again next time we are up there.

We visit the lakes from Northern Ireland as often as possible and we always ensure we visit the pheasant more than once during our stay, as the review states top marks in all areas it really has to be on your list to visit, you will not be disappointed, food amazing and plenty of it, tastes is 2nd to none, staff are brilliant and very welcoming you are made to feel like it's your local pub, it's dog friendly so our springer always comes along with us. Looking forward to our next visit, please look at the website to book in so you're not disappointed if there's no space.

First time visiting Pheasant Inn. Will definitely return. The best lamb Henry portion I’ve had in the Lake District melt in the mouth meat taste of whole meal absolutely phenomenal. We managed to clear our plates only having early done a 14 mile walk allowing us a little wiggle room to squeeze in a mighty portion of a dessert. Service was 2nd to none staff really friendly and couldn’t do enough for us highly recommend Pheasant Inn

So disappointing. Orders were taken promptly but had to wait about an hour for the food to arrive. Had to ask for steak knives to tackle the roast beef and could hardly cut into my roast potato which was rock hard. We left most of the food on our plates. Will not be back.

Lovely meal, great staff, brill pub highly recommendable, will certainly visit again next year when we are back in the lovely lakes,

3rd time visiting The Pheasant Inn and each time the food has been amazing. It is by far the best place to visit, especially for a Sunday roast. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. Can not fault it at all. We’ll be back when we’re next in the Lakes.

We came after hiking Blencathra, visiting from the Isle of Man & Cheltenham. We are fussy with roasts - especially having a veggie in the group. This was the most incredible roast ever. Creamed leeks to perfection, the most beautiful array of carrots!! Roasties, Yorkshires, gravy, even mash all amazing. Veggie wellington was insane (and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t like mushrooms). Presented beautifully too. Meat absolutely perfect and cooked how you want. The loveliest, cosy village atmosphere to have a drink and a laugh. The nicest waiters who sang happy birthday to one of our group. We will absolutely be coming back for our next trip! Thank you!

When visiting Keswick we always call in at the Pheasant and are never disappointed Old Peculiar on draft is excellent We had the Pheasant and black pudding for main and it was really good Sticky toffee pudding is the best I have had anywhere The Staff were very polite and were interested as to where we were from We definitely be going again Till the next time CHEERS

The restaurant became quite cold as the fire reduced. Our main meals were so very hot we could not eat them for ages, meaning our veg on a side dish got cold. My fish pie was on a serviette on the plate, the waitress explained this was to stop the dish of the pie from slipping from the plate. Unfortunately the dish was stuck to the serviette & far too hot to lift it off. I prefer my food all on one plate & able to eat the vegetables with the main dish. We decided not to have a sweet of Apple & Gooseberry Crumble with custard in case it too came red hot. We have eaten at the Pheasant a few times with a group of friends & enjoyed it. Sadly this was our 38th wedding anniversary and we were disappointed with our food on this occasion.
