Kirkby Lonsdale is a historic market town located on the border between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales on the River Lune. Famous for it's Devils Bridge - a regular meeting place for motorcyclists and it's Victorian Fair held every September. There are many dining options including pubs, tearooms and hotels.
We thoroughly enjoyed the lunch on our first visit to the Lunesdale. Even though the restaurant was busy, including a party of 10, the service was prompt and the food excellent - a very posh ploughmans and the lightest tempura batter on the fish. Delicious! We will be back!!
Lunesdale Arms – Kirkby LonsdaleWe met a friend here for a meal. We’d been before for an anniversary treat, and again were very impressed by the food, the atmosphere and the service. The menu had lots of interesting options and our vegetarian-opting friend had plenty to choose from. Our meals came promptly (but not too quickly!) and were well-presented and delicious. Service was friendly and professional and the atmosphere was laid-back and relaxed while being sophisticated.

Two Game Pies that had sat under heat lamps or worse still, had been re-heated multiple times till the pastry was brittle and the contents bone dry. Veg that was cold, a fish dish that was over cooked and a salad that was smothered in an excess of mayonnaise. I really hope this was a one off service and not another case of the King with no clothes.

The food is excellent, you do wonderful imaginative tasty dishes with plenty of options, it is a relaxed atmosphere which we all enjoy. Your wine list is very imaginative with a good selection and the service is very attentive and friendly and its everything we would wish after a long journey from Leicestershire. Well done and we look forward to our next visit .

The beef sweet chilli salad which I had was perfect and felt as though I deserved a dessert (due to the occassion) so had the apple crumble with ice cream (and cream!). Best apple crumble ever! The topping was perfect and crunchy. Service was friendly and excellent as always. Welcoming and fantastic atmosphere made you feel at home.

It was myself and my wife and we had a 3 course meal which was amazing. I would definitely recommend to anybody who is visiting the area.

Only comment (Which I fed back at the time) was please could they serve the gravy/sauce in a side jug rather than pouring quite a lot of it all over the meal. Same went for the truly gorgeous pear tart tatin: less syrup poured over but please give me as much as you want in a side jug! It was amazing
