Well, the first thing I should say is that I wouldn’t have actively gone on Tripadvisor to critique this eatery. I would have just put it down to experience – and if someone had asked about my experience, then I’d have given them an honest answer. But then that’s just what happened: Whinns emailed me asking for a review. So here it is. And it ain’t glowing. I just hope it helps the owners address the issues and lift their brand. As the phrase goes ‘we learn more from out failures than from our successes’. I’ll just give you my experience and my honest take in categories of ambience, service, food and value for money. So the position is excellent. Tick. Rolling, manicured hills and lots of open sky, a bucolic idyll. A fantastic stage on which to create a scene for a memorable experience. But as the old American café advertisement said ‘You can’t eat atmosphere.’ The café’s picture window is a double-edged sword: good for external views but utterly terrible for internal ambience. The entire wall of glass is a solid, non-sound absorbing surface. And together with the solid floor, the patrons’ combined voices just create the acoustics of a squash court. My partner and had to speak in raised voices across our small table just to hear each other over the room’s boom. Not relaxing. The front of house staff are friendly and helpful, though, if I were to compare this experience to others, I’d say the manager treads that dangerous line between engaging and intrusive with varying degrees of success. But the food was the real annoyance and let down. My partner, for her birthday lunch, had the spinach and cashew filo pie. I went for the ultimate burger. The back story here is that around lockdown time, I’d been passing Whins with my partner and we’d overheard a lady saying to her friend that the ultimate burger was the best burger she’d even had – ‘burger’ not just meat-free burger. Now, for me, that was kind of a big call. I love burgers. I had to find out - I’ve had all sorts of burgers on multiple continents. I hoped a new holy grail of burgers awaited. The food arrived pretty quickly. I’d been informed that the option of chips with the burger was off as there’d been supply problems, but there was a salad. Fine, I have no loyalty to the potato. But my partner and I were a bit taken aback with our meals. I’m not blaming the kitchen staff here at all. I’ve known enough chefs to know they generally receive a prescriptive menu and ingredients to prepare. We had decided to get different meals so we could share half each of the respective dishes. But the scale of the little filo pie next the haystack of slaw/raw veg was odd. And when I cut my ‘ultimate’ burger in half to scoot half to my partner’s plate, I had exactly two bites of burger left to eat. I’m really not one of the all you can eat brigade and I prefer quality to quantity any day of the week, but this thing was tiny. If it had been twice the size, it would’ve have been just about adequate. It would have been almost laughable, if it hadn’t cost nearly £14. It really did taste good, but ‘ultimate?’ Not in any positive, polite category I can think of. I always find it’s better to under-promise and over-deliver. We waited to order coffees, but no one came to take the order. So we got the bill. There’s a potential gold mine here. Situation. Parking. Lack of competition. Potential offering. Even the sound problem can be solved quite easily. We even had other people to bring on a second visit. But sadly for Whins that money will be going somewhere else. It’s not my job (here) to sort out brand perception and product delivery, all I can do is vote with my feet.

Been going to Quattros more years than I can remember. Never had a poor meal and staff/service always excellent.

I visited the restaurant with my wife on Wednesday 11th August. Our table was booked for 8.00pm and didn't have to wait very long to be seated. However, the food took an age to arrive (both starters and mains) but as we were in no rush it wasn't that much of a problem. The waitress could not have been more disintersted in us if she tried. Very poor service that spoiled an otherwise pleasant experience.

We wanted a vegan meal in the evening which sadly was not easy to find in Clitheroe. However although Toms Table only had one vegan dish on the mains menu and one dessert, it was gorgeous. Staff are very friendly, the chef Tom comes out to chat which I appreciated. The restaurant itself is very tasteful. We really enjoyed our time there and would go back

Literally the best Roast Dinner I’ve ever had. 10/10. Young man serving was nice. I think they forgot the ice cream off the Sticky Toffee pudding but the portion was that large didn’t bother to mention.

Awful experience. Booked 2 days in advance. Arrived 30 mins early. Shown to a sticky table. Others had reserved on them. Lad said he’d bring menus over. No cutlery or anything. After 15 mins of being ignored we walked out. No contact after dumping us at the table. Showed others to reserved tables walking past us each time. General state was dirty and smacked of a lot of young kids playing at serving a bar. My advice, don’t touch it

We go here quite often.. maybe 2-3 times a month. Never disappointed. Service is always second to none and the staff are so pleasant. The atmosphere is relaxing and must say, the playlist is brilliant. Price wise, you get exactly what you pay for, and I'd pay it every time. Well worth a visit.

Amazing food and top service. We had the chicken Kiev which was so good! Was sat in the far end of the pub, there was large group when arrived which added the the atmosphere but when they left we felt a little abandoned as it is very quiet at that end of the building. Didn’t ruin our night though.
