Yellowrose

My partner and I visited The Travellers Rest last night and it was a fab experience. The pub is much smaller on the inside than it looks which adds to the ambiance as when you walk through the doors the atmosphere is lovely and warm and very inviting - we thought it was a bit like sitting in someones front room - very relaxing. The meal was superb. I had one of their specials (Duck) which was delicious, my partner chose the Chilli but BEWARE it is exactly what is says on the menu - HOT!! The presentation of the food was wonderful - not quite what you would expect from a local pub which was a nice surprise. My only criticism has to be that the cutlery/crockery was not spotlessly clean which was a shame as apart from that the whole experience was brilliant and the staff were great. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND but would suggest you book a table first!!

I do make at least one annual pilgrimage up to Lancaster just to visit this culinary heaven and treat myself to a yearly feast of sensory magic. I missed last years visit due to illness - probably brought on by the lack of a decent curry locally! Yes it`s a 60+ mile round trip up to here, but worth every litre

Sultan Of Lancaster – Lancaster

I have been several time to Dantes and has been it and miss but lately is completely off the food is very poor (signs of the credit crunch corner cutting) and very expensive for what you get.

The Halfway House – Chorley

dined on sun 23rd Aug, Food was fab, we would of had dessert and coffee but having been sat for 30 minutes no staff came to ask if we required anything else, we asked a passing waitress for coffee which never came, so we paid and left. Think we must have been unlucky with the staff, but would return.

The Railway Tavern Euxton – Chorley

My wife and I have dined at numerous Italian restaurants. This was the best by far. What made it so special was:- The atmosphere of the venue The professional and accommodating staff And of course the delicious Authentic food. We live in Dubai and was amazed how nice this Restaurant was- a hidden gem.(The prices where very reasonable also)

La Locanda Ristorante Italiano – Clitheroe

Went to this chip shop for the 1st time tonight. We got 2 x Fish and Chips, with the most gorgeous mushy peas! Very good value for money, and the fish was lovely....crisp batter, and fresh fish. The staff were very friendly, and efficient. I would recommend this chippy!

I agree with an earlier poster that these pubs are coasting on a reputation. However, while you know that what you'll be served is usually of good quality and fresh and we do really appreciate the 'use local producers' principle - the few vegetarian options have, on the whole, been very underwhelming and we've left thinking we haven't had good value for money more than once. What's more, the three 'pubs' (let's face it, they're not really pubs) in the chain that we've been to have a very 'corporate' feel and no charm whatsoever. I think/hope the fashion for these sort of places passes or at least levels off. The gloss has certainly rubbed off for us.

We are always treated well at Marcos. The food is great, the staff are friendly, what more could you want?

Marcos – Lancaster
Etnies

I'm not sure why so many people recommend this place, both myself and my partner thought it was rubbish. The staff couldn't care less when we walked in, with no "please", "thank you's", or smiles. The food was bland with not one bit of spice or flavour. Interior decor is old and tatty, could definately do with some modernisation!

King Karai – Preston

4 of us dined here last night (Friday) and enjoyed some really good food. Not having been to a Caribbean restaurant before we all opted for the platters which were very good value for money. It gave us the chance to try a bit of everything off the menu and all of it was extremely delicious and we struggled to finish everything there was plenty on there! The curry deserves a special mention as do the huge king prawns. The only slight criticism was the men were a bit put out at the small choice of lager/beer on offer, they were allowed to bring drinks down from the bar upstairs, but its a bit inconvenient having to leave your table to go yourself to the pub upstairs to get a drink! The staff were friendly and polite apart from one girl who I think needs some customer training. At one point she sighed and rolled her eyes as one of us couldn't decide which cocktail we wanted off the menu. Not a good advertisement for your business. Still, despite that we would go back as the food is great and a good change from the usual eating out experience. ( I would just suggest to the owner to keep a better eye on how the waitresses are treating the customers!)

Calypso Restaurant – Blackburn
Hercressness

My partner and I - both vegetarian - ate at La Locanda for the first time recently and both agreed that it was perhaps the most stunning meal we'd ever eaten. All three courses were truly food taken to the highest level and, with the attentive service and cosy atmosphere, it was a dining experience that I think will be hard to beat. I sound gushing here...but it really knocked us out. We're happy to recommend this fabulous restaurant.

La Locanda Ristorante Italiano – Clitheroe

food is absolutely fantastic, service is friendly and welcoming it is my favourite restaurant!!

Checcos – Blackburn
Mark O'reilly

The Barbon Inn is set in a beautiful village, with fantastic views and great local attractions. The bar is very welcoming with a good selection of real ales and fine wines and has a real wood burning fire (which will be great on those wintery nights). The staff are polite and very helpful. The food was of an extremely high quality, using the best of the local produce, we were really spoilt for choice with the menu. The bedrooms are well decorated and very clean. All in all we enjoyed our stay very much and would heartily recommend this Inn to anyone wanting a relaxing break in the Lake District or a really nice meal in warm friendly atmosphere.

What can I say - we booked Stevenson's (The Grape's outside catering function) to cater for our wedding on 25 July. They were truly amazing. The service was impeccable, the food delectable, the guests bowled over. A formal wedding breakfast that was elegantly presented, delicious and wowed our guests was followed by a fantastic Moroccan themed BBQ. We have had nothing but rave reviews - the guys loved the black pudding and steak pie (my husband's Lancashire roots!); the girls loved the delicate starters and incredible desserts. Everyone loved the evening BBQ with nothing but compliments from the both the day and evening guests on the quality and quantity of food and seamless service. I think our wedding has not only sold a few Croston properties but has grown the Grape's fan base far and wide. In fact, a number of our guests from further afield returned on the Sunday evening to revisit the menu! We're on countdown to our 25th Wedding Anniversary when we can book them again! Thanks Helen and Stuart for making our day.

Probably the best service of any Indian restaurant I have ever eaten in. Food always very good and excellent value. Best pickle tray ever!! Always recommend this place to my friends and family.
