Sylhet – BlackburnThe food at The Greyhound is absolutely delicious! We visited on a Sunday (no roast but we didn't go for that anyway). I had the homemade chicken and mushroom pie which was the best I have ever tasted and my husband had the cheese and onion pie - again delicious. My 4 year old also enjoyed his fresh mini fish and chips. It was great to see a childs menu with all fresh food - no chicken nuggets in sight! Only wish we lived nearer - I'd be there every day for a meal!
The Greyhound – LancasterBack in August 2007 we held our wedding reception at the Pudding house. Everyone was very helpful and accommodating whilst organising the day and the day itself went without a hitch. The food was excellent and all our guests commented on how wonderful the food was,we were amazed at the consistency with all the dishes that were sent out, an achievement when dealing with large numbers. Our Favours were also supplied by the Pudding House in the form of their own handmade chocolates which were out of this world. I was a beautiful setting for a reception and the team at the pudding house were amazing. Thank you to all who made it possible. Our apologies for not writing sooner. The Pudding house is well worth a visit for any occasion even just for a fantastic ice cream!!
The Pudding House at Wallings Farm – Lancasterhad Sunday lunch here and was the best Roast I have ever tasted, we have already booked for valentines day and will be telling our friends how great it is. The best food for miles around and friendly polite staff make it a great all round experience, I have even put reviews on 3 websites, which i never normally do!
The Railway Tavern Euxton – Chorley3 of us had Sunday lunch here, there were only 6 other diners in at the time.2 of us ordered starters, good food but 25 minutes from ordering to arriving at the table. From clearing the table after the starters, we waited another 35 minutes for the mains (only another 4 diners in by now so they can't claim to be busy!). I had ordered a cheese pie dish but found that I had been given a turkey pie. I asked for the correct food, received an apology, 25 minutes later I got my lunch. The manager apologised again and didn't charge me for my main course but by that point the occasion was spoiled. We will not be going back.
The Railway Tavern Euxton – ChorleyWe held our wedding at Mitton Hall on 11th Jan 08. We had a few concerns following the takeover but after meeting with Rachel & Maurice, we were put at ease. Our wedding day was absolutely amazing and it's all thanks to everyone at Mitton Hall. The day was perfect with great food, attentive staff and great organisation, we really couldn't fault it. Thanks for making our day perfect in every way x
Mitton Hall – ClitheroeHad the most wonderful meal. From start to finish, the food was excellent. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was very good. The staff are so friendly and can't do enough for you. Will definitely be back.
The Brasserie – LancasterCitizen Newspaper report: "Inn wins best restaurant in county Hoghton restaurant, Thyme at The Sirloin Inn, has won the Hi-life Dinners Club award for best restaurant in Lancashire. The award was presented to Wayne Keough, co-owner and general manager of the restaurant, by Noddy Holder, of Slade fame, at a star-studded event at the Hilton Hotel in London on Friday. It beat over a thousand other restaurants in the county for this, the latest in a string of awards it has won, including best newcomer, best chef, and best brasserie." Congratulations to the Thyme on their fully justified award. I have been visiting this restaurant for a number of years since its opening and cannot fault it. I have recommended it to numerous friends, family and acquaintances who, without exception, have not been disappointed. The food is of high quality, the ambience extremely convivial and the service second to none. I hope this award does not mean an increase in prices!
The Sirloin Inn – PrestonThis restaurant, serves THE best value for money meals I've ever had the pleasure of eating and believe me, every mouthful is a pleasure. The service is quick and friendly, and the hosts are always welcoming. The extensive menu brings together traditional and exotic flavours with something to suit everyone.
Grey Mare Inn – BlackburnAbsolutely awful. Avoid
The Grapes – Leylandwashing up staff and the people who prepare food are simply amazing
The Pack Belthorn – BlackburnAmazing! The transformation of Mitton Hall is astounding. From the decor, the food, and the smiling service. The place is a must. We were recommended to pay a visit by friends who also couldn't believe the transformation, The staff in place are brilliant. Mel our waitress was first class and our silver toothed barman a laugh a minute. Congratulations to all
Mitton Hall – ClitheroeVisiting Mitton Hall on a Friday evening one could get the impression you had crashed a family get together. The staff are kissed hello and goodbye everybody knows everybody else and every customer seems to know Andy the barman! We were welcomed, not served, but "Looked after" from pre dinner drinks to coffee. The food is out of this world and sent out on slates. We will be visiting again with friends very soon!!
Mitton Hall – ClitheroeWe celebrated my wife's birthday with a meal at the Railway and left fully satisfied. The attentive and friendly staff pre-empted our every need and the food more than met our expectations & appetites. To summarise: Quality, freshly cooked to order selection with high standards at a truly competitive and favourable cost. Excellent!
The Railway Tavern Euxton – ChorleyI have been eating at The Original Farmers Arms for many years, I have always found the food and service very good. On 4th Jan 08 I went to celebrate my wifes birthday. The food was served within 10mins of ordering, for the meals ordered this was almost impossible. I had Duck and my wife had Sea Bass, The Duck it was over cooked and tough and the Fish was also over cooked. The veg was a tasteless mush. The service was nonchalant. We had arrived at 8pm had one drink each, ordered and ate our meals and was back home, 10 minutes away, by 9pm. A poor evening. I willNOT be going back.
Original Farmers Arms – ChorleyI had lunch here (January 2008) and was most disappointed. My starter which was king scallops on risotto, had completely cold scallops, which was unpleasant to say the least. the risotto was delicous though. there was a drizzle of a pretty apricot coloured "jus" around the plate, unfortunately I can't tell you what it was, as it had absolutely no taste whatsoever. My main course was advertised on the menu as "crispy slow roasted bellypork, with caramelised onions, neeps and tatties, red wine jus and our own apple sauce". Well when it came there were no neeps, neeps being one of the reasons I chose the dish. instead there was practically raw shredded cabbage which was tepid, NO apple sauce, NO red wine jus, some onions that were definitely not caramelised, and a piece of "crackling" stuck into the mash like a wafer on an ice cream cone. When i bit into the crackling (which i usually adore), I felt sick as my mouth filled with cooking oil. The crackling had clearly been fried in oil, it was awful. The mashed potatoes were okay, the pork was tender enough and had a nice layer of fat, but was quite tasteless. Really this dish bore no real resemblance to the one promised on the menu. The people with me had mushroom soup which was tepid at most, with a helping of an ultra garlicy oil on top of it, which really seemed surplus to requirements. Believe it or not im not a particularly fussy eater, but the food at this place, after looking so good on the menu, and having good reviews was a serious let down. My cold scallops were awful and the pork dish was poor, no other way to put it, and it was £11 for that poor quality. I was not then suprised to hear another person that day say "yes the food looks great on the plates, but it doesn't taste very good". I won't go back there again, and i honestly don't know why it has a good reputation. It was quiet when we were in so the chef couldnt have been rushed off his feet, and the waitresses took over ten minutes to tot up our very simple bill.
The Sparrowhawk – BurnleyBest food, great place , service fantastic the best in the north west( ZAK ) thanks for lovely day 25th.
