We visited on 5th March and were very impressed by the up-market decor and courteous staff. It was pretty quiet at around 6pm but had filled up considerably by the time we left. We were offered poppadoms as we were handed the menus. They were very good and had a selection of 7/8 pickles. However, we didn't realise the price of these until we got the bill - 55p each plus £2.95 for the pickles, more expensive than we are used to, but then again more pickle choices. Hubby went for the Balti chicken tikka garlic with boiled rice and I had the fabulous Taaqur-Ki-Thali, chicken, lamb, prawn and keema curries with pilau rice and a small salad. Very tasty and highly recommended. With 2 bottles of peroni and one very expensive lime & soda (£2.20) the bill came to £35 (ish). Neither of us could finish our meals, and the waiter happily packed the remaining dishes for us to take home. We will definitely visit again soon, even though it is more expensive than the surrounding town curry houses which we have frequented over the years, and probably on a par with our favourite, Shona Spice on Cuerdale lane.

I write not to recommend this restaurant. I could not find a starter that I liked and normally I am spoilt for choice. The menu said my main course would be served with a choice of either chips, roast or boiled potatoes and vegetables. I was not given a choice of potatoes and there was hardly any veg. The garlic bread was tasteless. However the main problem was that my husband started with diarrhoea at 3am. the following day which lasted for 8 weeks. He had eaten mussels here and the doctor said it was undoubtedly due to eating at this restaurant.

Visited Moka for the first time with 3 friends. Best restaurant in Preston. The food is out of this world, the staff very attentive, and the music & decoration created a lovely ambient atmosphere. I enjoyed Thai fishcakes for starter, Goan lamb for main course (slow cooked lamb shank with spices) - absolutely divine, & toffee and pecan cheesecake for dessert. Will definitely be returning.

7/3/09 - After reading about the refurb and review in MEN we decided we would give The Spread Eagle a try. Pleasant place with a friendly welcome, good service apart from staff not wanting to clear used glasses from our dining table. Food was relatively tasty (if a little on the small portion side). I was disappointed when I realised that the "2 No. King Prawns" in my King Prawn & Prawn Cocktail had been cut into thirds! never come across this before.. another grumble would be the undercooked "large" chips. Sadly we won't be going out of our way to visit again.

My wife and I have been enjoying terrific food at the Kingfisher for years. Chef owner Mike Thomson delivers a consistently good product along with his wife Anne who runs a very efficient front of house operation. You’ll get top class ingredients cooked to perfection - last week we enjoyed a starter of Breakfast salad - smoked bacon, local black pudding & sautéed new potatoes on dressed leaves & finished with a soft poached egg - it was absolutely delicious. For main course my wife had delicious Grilled Plaice (almost out of the bay onto your plate) and I enjoyed the Fish Pie ( full of a selection of white fish, salmon and prawns). There is always a nice selection of fresh vegetables, new potatoes and do try the wonderful chips. We didn’t have room for a sweet last week but they are always very good. There is a very reasonably priced wine list too. As if this isn’t enough for a good night (or lunch) out you have a very modern bright and airy split level restaurant with picture windows taking full advantage of the fantastic views over the estuary to Grange and the Lakeland hills. Take a look at the web site for up to date menus and some nice photos of the restaurant. It really is well worth the trip I promise you and one final tip, if you plan to visit at weekend book ahead.

Went here for Sunday lunch over the weekend. I dine out on a regular basis and will travel a distance for a good restaurant - I cannot believe that this restaurant is on my doorstep and I have only only just found out about it. The food was excellent and the beef was memorable for all the right reasons. The service was friendly and hospitable. The restaurant design is very stylish - a complete contrast to next door. My only small critiscm was that the red wine was slightly on the cold side other than night we had a perfect Sunday with friends and I look forward to my next visit.

Had a gourmet overnight stay here recently. From the minute we arrived everything was just perfect. The room was great with a good attention to detail - all those little things that make you go Ooohh! The 5 course meal was amazing, from the champagne and canapes to begin to the coffee & petite fours to end in front of a real fire. We splashed out on the wine package which consisted of 4 glasses to compliment each course - not cheap at £37.50 a head but they were stunning and well worth the extra indulgence!!! I'm saving up for my return.

I ate here on Thursday evening with 10 other friends and we had a fabulous time, the place was packed out and this did not make any difference to the service….excellent!!!! The bill was a bit more than we expected but we all left happy, tipsy and full!!!!! Would highly recommend it!!!

We have eaten here several times, and always rate it for special occasions. Last night we went to the Indian gourmet night - it was superb, the best indian food we have ever tasted, we enjoyed dishes that we had never heard of before, and joy of joy beautiful Indian desserts all served with Truffles usual attention to detail and attentive pleasant staff, can't wait to try another gourmet night!!

Awful, truly the worst dish ever. We came in slightly earlier than planned and volunteered to sit anywhere that was convenient. The waiter growled at my wife and I. After this, we were then served a cardboard part-frozen pizza complete with cold chips...obviously everything had been taken from the freezer and quickly microwaved. The service throughout was snotty, slow and depressing. We paid the bill (which was extortionate) and have commited ourselves to never walking through the front door again. This used to be such a great place to dine, what has happened over the last year? Bad service, rancid food and just awful.

In the midst of this credit crunch this place is packed! that tells you something, it must be good. people are going out less and only going places that offer a great product at this time. I had a great lunch and will be going back!

I believe the Italian Orchard is the best Italian restaurant by far, anywhere in the North. There is a lunch menu for only £8.70 for two courses and you have a choice of more than a dozen starters and a dozen main courses. I hate Italian restaurants that offer only pasta and pizza, this has very good quality and very good service - if you go there you would recommend it too!!!!

Me and partner had a sensational meal at this restaurant, my partner had booked a table on valentines evening and proposed which was so romantic, what made it especially special was the intimacy of the restaurant and the excellent service. I couldn't fault anything, it was absolutely perfect. Thank you New Seasons for a lovely evening and we will most certainly be seeing you again in the future.

Hello Readers, I must say I had a delightful experience at the Stork Inn, The food was divine and the service sublime. Although If I had slight misfortune it was meeting a young member of staff at the bar, I tried ordering a round of drinks and he blatantly ignored me, I asked to see the manager and I was told to f**k off, I asked a waitress his name and was told it was Rob Jacques, however, I wasn't about to allow one bad member deter my attention away from the extravagant meal I was about to embark upon. What a lovely experience I will surely visit again.
