We had pre booked a table as we were coming by boat and the weather forecast was unsettled. Glad we did as it was busy when we arrived for a Saturday lunch. We had the Cajun chicken burger, hanging chicken kebab, scampi and gammon. All meals were cooked nicely and arrived quickly. The extra onion rings we ordered were huge! Friendly service, good selection of food and drinks. Will be back

Friday evening catch up with our friends. We had a booth which was comfortable and, with the high backs, gave a nice feeling of privacy. In fact, the restaurant has had a facelift which is very nice indeed. Our friendly waitress took our very pleasantly priced and variety available drinks order promptly but took some time to then arrive, having to ask for them. Our food was delicious but lacked basic serving etiquettes….we had to ask for serving plates for our serving board plus three of us had mussels (yummy!) but the bowls for finger washing and shells we again had to ask for. Overall, a lovely night and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Overall amazing night, perfect for students in the area, no complaints from me, thanks to all the staff at Sydney’s!

Lovely venue. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. Eight of us were on a day out in Lancaster and every one of us really enjoyed our meal. Will definitely return and a big thank you to everyone.

Nice setting, we ate outside on the canal side in the sunshine. There was a long wait for food but they were very busy so fair enough. Most staff great, a couple a bit miserable. Food was nice enough and good value (sandwiches / chips). Nice ales. Would go again if in the area. Cheers!

Unfortunately we waited over 90 minutes to receive our main meals. We also had to wait a long time to receive drinks. When the main meals came the chips portion was very small and when we asked if we could have more chips we were told no and that was the portion size, when we asked to speak to the chef they said no they were too busy. To pay £14.95 for a burger and a couple of chips felt really bad value for money. As it was nearly 10pm before we finished our main meals this stopped us from ordering desserts. We complained at the end and after a big debate was offered 15% discount. This did not seem fair and so we spoke to the manager who offered us 25% discount which seemed more reasonable. Unfortunately we won’t be returning here due to the above issues.

We had a great lunch, moules, hanging kebab and fish and chips were all tasty, good portions and well presented. The queue for the food till was a bit tedious and at times dominated the bar so a better solution for busy times would be ideal. Staff friendly and welcoming and a great location

We went for lunch on Saturday, it wasn't busy to start with but was when we left. The staff were lovely, attentive but not in your face. The food was great and I can recommend the sharing platter. My daughter had the brie and cranberry sandwich which she really enjoyed, I had steak and fries, my only complaint would be to much salt, but that could be personal taste. We didn't have dessert as we had no room. The price was very reasonable and we will be returning.

We came here for a group meal and the service from the point of booking was brilliant. Cannot fault the staff. Unfortunately, there was a lot of us disappointed with our food. The burgers were all really overdone and dry, likewise the kebabs. The starters were very good but the mains let it down. It was also freezing inside. Beautiful setting on the canal.

Welcoming atmosphere and efficient service. Beer very good. The bare walls and barren floor make the acoustics echoey, conversation then difficult. The food was good and plentiful. Smaller portion options would be a good idea.

Another excellent meal at The Sultan. Food was first class as ever. I like to try something different each time and wasn't disappointed by the lamb desi biryani. My wife had the sultan mixed grill. Our son had his usual tikka curry that is perfect for his developing palate. Service and welcome is so personal, you feel really valued! Ash is the perfect host, you can tell he knows his customers... I overheard comments from another table and he remembers those little things that means a lot. The only 'problem'? With so much choice we over ordered and our eyes were bigger than our collective bellies! Will we be back again? Absolutely!
