The environment is wonderful as it feels as if you're sitting in an old street. The redesign is just beautiful, sensitive to its heritage but beautifully upgraded. Waitress, Evie, was a pure delight paying very close attention to our reasons for being there and ensuring we had everything we needed recommending things from the menu when asked. The menu is far from traditional but still has something for everyone from specials that bring an opportunity to try something new to standard fish and chips for people less adventurous. Literally can't wait to go again and well worth a visit.

Great menu, everything we ordered was delicious!

Dined here for the first time last night. Impressed with our reception where my online booking detailing a severe allergy had been noted and acted upon. Also impressed by the enthusiasm of the bar/waitress who was valiantly racing around doing both jobs as some staff had not yet aarrived (it was 5.30). Unfortunately the service was unsurprisingly slow, so we opted to settle for only a main course because we were due at the theatre for 7.30. The menu choices were rather short of vegetarian options, and also rather too many fish based dishes, but my tagliatelle was delicious and the seasoning and use of tarragon made it a far less boring dish than I expected. We will give it another go sometime soon!

Food was good with a decent portion. Service needs refining - a few frustrating issues here. The building is beautiful and unusual. It struggles to gain any atmosphere though as it's a very large place and there were very few customers in when we were there.

Visited with 4 other family members on Saturday, the food was fantastic and so was the service! The only thing that was a bit disappointing was the cocktails, we had two espresso martinis which tasted awful, the staff refused to change or refund the drinks which was frustrated, they honestly tasted like they were pre made or from a can which is not what you expect when paying £8.50 per cocktail!

Great food, large portions, friendly service, was first time eating here but will definitely be back when we are in the area again.

Quick meal before going to the cinema. Friendly staff, prompt service, lovely cocktails and great food. I had the fish platter and have to say it was one of the best I have had. Sydneys is just what Lancaster needs. Nice to see that beautiful building back in business!

This is a lovely restaurant, very welcoming, staff pleasant, well mannered and very helpful. The meal was delicious, portions were generous, exceptional service, thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Excellent from the moment we walked in the waitress was very polite and helpful and the food was excellent definitely recommend would like to see something bigger then a 6oz steak on the menu but maybe that’s me being picky but will definitely be returning

I went to this place couldn’t find any close to the Lake District and it was best choice I’ve made the staff and management were brilliant great service and the food was even better would definitely recommend

The first time I came here I had the best pizza I’d ever tasted. Every time since I feel like I’m chasing a high and the quality hasn’t been the same. Last pizza night the pizza was underdone and doughy. My cheesy garlic bread was underdone, as were my chips. My girlfriend had the same issue. Such a shame since I know you’re capable of better.

Saturday afternoon and our first visit to Sydneys. Food was good and enjoyable but the fish pie was quite small with a small amount of greens. Nice to be in the booths but the service was quite disappointing and really did let the experience down. We are likely to go back but the service needs improving.

My friends and I visited yesterday evening for dinner at 7:30pm We ordered a range of the small plates with two sides of the truffle fries. The food was gorgeous A special thanks to our waitress Jayne who looked after us all evening

Fabulous food, lovely atmosphere and very good service by all the staff. They offer 2 cocktails for £10 after 9pm which I think is very reasonable! Will definitely go again

I really love this place and have eaten both the lunch and dinner menus. The hummus wrap is amazing and the sharing fishboard is the best thing,!!! The service is great and it has a friendly, culled vibe that leads to a great dining experience.
