Sunday lunch for four was outstanding. Amazing tempura prawn starters and the roast was even better than the usual high standard!

We visited as a party of 8 for Sunday lunch and it was absolutely fantastic - there is nothing any of us could fault. Food was delicious and beautifully cooked, staff were lovely, service was great and it is a lovely venue.

5 adults and 2 children, looked after well, empty plates all round. Food quality is very good, side a little expensive for portion size. Definitely trying to be more accommodating for children, book corner is a nice touch.

I cannot speak highly enough of this place! The food, staff and general vibe was out of this world. Have booked back in with the girls in a few weeks and cannot wait to try the evening menu and natural wines.

We arrived a little early for our booking so was told they wouldn't take our food order till our booking time at 7.15 which we said was fine. An hour and 10 minutes after our booking time someone finally came and took our order, the waitress who was looking after us couldn't properly understand us so we had to point at the menu for her, she finally bought all our meals but 1, when we tried to get her attention she just kept saying "2 minutes" finally the actual chef bought out the last meal and apologised. We ordered a second round off drinks and she got 3 off them wrong, and she then totally ignored my partner when he told her his drink order. The food was lovely but unfortunately it was ruined by the service. Don't think we'll be going back there!

Easy to book a table. Staff are very attentive and friendly. We eat here regularly and the food is always good and nicely presented. Really good value for the price especially the small plate menu.

Me and my partner had lunch here on a Friday. We shared the steak and eggs, halloumi hash and pancakes. All of them were extremely tasty, hot, fresh and honestly faultless! Service was amazing and chilled. Definitely wasn't expecting it to be this good and will be back very soon!!

Food was excellent although sadly there was no sea bass available again (as on two previous visits) which was a shame! The restaurant had a good atmosphere. We waited a long time for the starter to arrive, but the restaurant was very busy and once we mentioned this to a waiter it came quite soon afterwards.

Fantastic place! Amazing staff who are attentive and take care of everything. Lovely accommodation, breakfast was fresh, plenty of choice and well above your average breakfast - very high standard of meals !!!

We had a lovely overnight stay really comfy bed and lovely room. Evening meal we both had rump steak and it was beautiful really good portion, cooked really well and good price would definitely recommend . Breakfast was great too thank you had a lovely nights break. Quiz night was great fun and even won at the higher lower cards game, the games bloke was good fun, staff were really friendly would recommend to go and stay. It was a Christmas present Wowcher enjoyed our stay had a great night.

Had a fabulous meal at the Kings arms on Friday. Lovely staff, beautiful pub with a good atmosphere. Will definitely be back next time we’re in Askrigg.

We had the pleasure of dining at the Royal Oak not once but twice whilst staying at the Little Lodge next door over the weekend - our first meal on the Friday (Staveley Game and the Finnen) was exceptional, so much so that when we overheard the pub were offering Burns Night supper the next evening, we simply couldn’t miss out. The Haggis wellington was absolutely divine, we left very full and very satisfied! It’s no surprises to hear that this week the Royal Oak at Staveley earned Pub of The Week in the Yorkshire post - it truly is a gem of a pub, fantastic food at great value for money, warm and hospitable atmosphere, and dog friendly too! Great choice of ales and extensive wine menu to boot. We cannot wait to return to Staveley for the food! Thanks for having us.

Girlfriend and I fancied being spoilt. Lovely atmosphere, great and smiley service from staff. Wanted layered crab without garlic… . …no problem. We had two starters each a glass of wine and coffee £66 incl coffee. Carb mushrooms and 2 scallops. Maybe don’t need as much bread but as they were all starters can understand. Better offer in basket then we don’t need to take more than we need. Many thanks for lovely unhurried evening.
