Starving At Quarter Bar

Ate in the quarter last night. The food was poor, i have never eaten such dry bread in my life. The service was average to say the least. For what we had to eat and drink £35.00 per person was very expensive.

A positive to start things off. Erm... attentive service. Unfortunately, it was all down hill after that. My girlfriend ordered the Veggie and Camembert burger which was a decent sized offering but lacked a crucial ingredient. The veggie burger. I went for the Aubergine and Goat's Cheese option and the burger itself was a block of goat's cheese covered in bread crumbs that had been deep-fat fried. My stomach didn't know what had hit it. We both felt underwhelmed by the burgers themselves and also the price as they are similar to the meat options. We won't be going back.

i visited bistro franc on 24/11/09 along with two friends and sampled the three course pre theatre menu. The cost was £10.95 which is amazing as the food was perfect, portions were adequate, and there was plenty of choice. The service was spot on considering the place was very busy. We will definitely be paying a return visit soon.

was the second time i have been to ll forno, the food and staff are amazing but unfortunately the noise from the large table behind me was unbearable!! i really couldn't enjoy my meal an the fire door which was right next to be kept getting opened for people to go outside and smoke which wasn't nice either. I do recommend to go to this restaurant, however be careful were you are sat

Excellent Food, Nice Atmosphere, Plenty of Choice and some good deals. If you have a wheat problem - there is lots of choice and help to choose from the menu.

Good food but don't go if you are in a group unless you all want a banquet....we booked for 14 covers but because we didn't all want the banquet they gave us 2 tables for 7......at opposite ends of the restaurant! Polite requests to sit closer together were ignored despite tables being available. Great food....bad attitude!

It was on a whim that my partner, my friend and I decided to go to this restaurant, as it had reached the crucial point in our evening out when we would either continue the festivities, or simply go home early. We knew the outstanding reputation that the locally established duo of French Bistro's held, and were amazed at the incredible Sunday dining deal- 2 Courses plus a bottle of wine per person for only £13.95!- definitely a deal we wanted to take advantage of. We started with a bottle of house red and perused the menu, so many dishes took my fancy and I reached the crucial decision of having a starter, rather than a pudding (usually unheard of for me!) I chose the Wood Pigeon and Beetroot Salad, with Hazelnut Oil dressed Salad, as I'd never tried pigeon before. The nutty notes from the slightly overdone bird, complemented the hazelnut oil, as the acidity from the beetroot cut through the richness of the dark, gamy meat. I thoroughly enjoyed my starter, although it was over in a bite or two! For our main course, we all liked the look of the Fillet of Beef (which we payed a supplement for) and enquired with our attentive waitress, as to how they cooked the steak i.e was the steak English medium-rare, or French medium-rare. Upon her advice, I decided to have my steaks rare. And when those three plates of sizzling steaks arrived, we simply couldn't wait for their accompanying vegetables. One bite of this melt-in-the mouth steak was enough to know that this was a fantastic choice of restaurant. Served in a brandy, pate and mushroom cream sauce, on a crouton, to say this was cooked to perfection would be very cliche, but indeed, it was. The gratin dauphinoise, was garlicky and creamy, the cabbage rich and flavoured with red wine, and the al dente mangetout and carrots complemented the meal as a light side. Every mouthful of this meal was a sheer pleasure to eat, as we washed down the final mouthfuls with more wine. Regrettably, I had to pass on the final morsels to my fellow diners, as I couldn't finish it and wouldn't hear of one scrap being wasted! On a separate note, my partner opted for the cheese board instead of his started and was severely disappointed in what he received- not a Brie de Meaux or indeed any French cheese in sight.

I have just returned from the Mayur and was appalled by the complete lack of service at this restaurant. Me and my partner waited a ridiculously long time to be served and didn't even receive our 3rd course and no apology was issued by the manager when I mentioned this to him. I would not dine here again as the service was so shocking and the manager had a couldn't care less attitude, I was frankly shocked by how blase the manager was about my comments as this is supposed to be one better Indian restaurants in the city.

We have been eating here for 15 years and the standards have never varied -good value for money and excellent service. We saw another side to their service when 5 of us went to eat and my friend took suddenly ill - they were fantastic and called for paramedics and sat with her till they arrived and caused the least possible embarrassment for her whilst they dealt with the situation. They were brilliant with us all and even asked us to let them know how our friend was doing (she's fine now). When she called to thank them they offered her a free meal when she next goes (which will be soon). Great restaurant - Great Customer Service !

I ve eaten at Bistro Franc a few times now, either for a celebration(birthday, etc) or a meal with my husband and each time the food has been fantastic. The service is great, lovely atmosphere and you are not rushed. Any celebrations we have in the future we will definitely come back to Bistro Franc.

I have just come back from Yums and the only thing i would say is that its cheaper than going for a colonic irrigation!! The toilet sign said 'upstairs' and when i went up there I seen what I could only describe as a lab, creating their own penicillin in a load of buckets spewn round the place collecting water dripping from the ceiling that looked like it had been there a decade!!! I had to jump over the buckets to see if the ladies were down the hallway which I think they were but there was noooooo way I was going to go any nearer! The menus on the tables were grubby with dirty black fingerprints on them, the walls looked like there was old blood dripping down it. The bar was full of dirty glasses for the whole of my duration in the place and I burned my hand trying to get some dried up egg fu yung with the plastic spoon that was near to melting point!!! My recommendation is to steer clear of it! I read further up the blog that its good to go there later on.....yes.....much later on....when your that bladdered you wouldn't care if they served the food off of the floor!!!! It makes you wonder what the kitchen is like. The gents toilets' taps nearly fell off in my boyfriends hands, the dryer had cold air. There was fungi in the toilets......I could go on and on!!!!! In a nutshell - go to Maccy D's - I think it would be much healthier!!!!!!

Went to savina on Sunday with a large number of friends(45 to be exact) and was once again really really pleased by the warm friendly atmosphere of the staff. Food was fantastic as always(my sixth time dining here) and considering it was such a large booking not much of a wait at all.Savina is a must for any Mexican food lover and the standards are very high compared to other Mexican restaurants we have visited! All my friends agreed it's a true must try restaurant and many said they will be visiting again very soon :)

Ok atmosphere & well presented restaurant. Food (enchilada & burrito, nachos) were good, but couldn't help thinking basically the same as your standard 'Brewer's Fayre' type. Possibly frozen meals dinged in the microwave? Prices were acceptable. May go again.

I have walked past this restaurant many times on my way to work and thought about popping in, after finishing work one night at 10pm and not many places of quality still open I thought I would give it a go. It was fairly obviously when we entered that they would have preferred an early night rather than one last table but the service and food after the initial minute or two was fantastic. Pigeon breast followed by Lamb was amazing and all for not a lot of money. Will definitely be back at a more reasonable hour

Cant understand why I am the first to do a recommendation on this lovely restaurant! Have been to Bistro Pierre many times over the years and found Bistro Franc a month ago and had a brilliant lunch. Last night we booked for the Pre-Theatre menu at 6.00 and arrived to find the place almost full to bursting. The service from all the staff was absolutely fantastic - they were SO busy, SO professional and SO pleasant! The Maitre d runs a very tight ship and the result is a great experience for everyone. Absolutely couldn't fault it - fantastic meal and SUCH good value - I don't know how they do it. Thank you all x
