This has got to be the best buffet restaurant in Liverpool, small on the outside, huge range on the inside. Small and cosy, staff are lovely and friendly. With its unbeatable price of £5.95 and only £1 extra at evening time, with seafood and crispy duck. I go with my family every week, as its affordable and my children love it. I've been to other buffet restaurant like buffet star and maysum, but you cant compare the quality and service with yums. So guys it is worth the walk up bolds street.....

I recently organised a staff meal out and took a gamble on going somewhere I'd never been, and in this case it definitely paid off. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. The tapas was fresh and full of flavour, and the generous helpings of home made desserts were some of the best desserts I've tasted. And all of this for under £20 including corkage. I would highly recommend this to anyone, and all of the staff are keen to return.

For a "real taste of Italy " you must visit this restaurant ! , i have been going there since i 1st moved to the "pool " over 27 years ago and i can honestly say they are still one of the best Italian restaurants in the U.K. , possibly Europe ! , the staff are really friendly , the service is quick , however be prepared to wait for a table , its worth it ! the food is great value, authentic and they serve generous portions , (i have never made it to the dessert menu !) the atmosphere is lively and always busy, great for a quick bite after a shopping session or a romantic evening treat, the pizzas are thin and crispy and traditional , and the pasta dishes are always hot, fresh and "al dent'e , i cannot recommend this restaurant enough !, you will not be disappointed ! Bon appetito ! enjoy .

14th July - Bastille Day and the place was buzzing, had the Bastille day Menu which included a glass of Kir, the price with wine , water, 3 courses and coffee ..£58 for 2 people , fabulous value but more importantly much better food and service than I have had in many restaurants in France. Highly recommended ....need to book!!!

I have visited this restaurant on a few occasions and always had a fantastic meal. We called in again recently and were very disappointed the menu had changed from 'fine dining' to more of a snack type menu "to cater for the student population". I had had a burger previously so I thought I'd stick with what I knew but how disappointing! they seem to be using cheaper ingredients. Unfortunately I will not be going to this restaurant again.

Excellent....everything about it...food, service, views, ambience, value etc. Probably the best restaurant in Liverpool.

Had a recent meal with a group of friends. First rate cooking, appalling service. Had excellent experiences here in the past so surprised when we couldn't get any drinks served to us in the seating area near the bar. Even more surprised when we had to remind the staff that we had been waiting over half an hour past our booked time in a half empty restaurant to get seated. Great food but just couldn't get the waitresses' attention for more wine. Staff seemed to be more interested in putting out breakfast servings at end of meal that serving us coffee. First restaurant in years where we didn't leave a tip. If they can get the service sorted out then would continue to highly recommend.

hi everyone , if you are thinking of going to this non authentic indian cusine please please please think again. our meal was well over priced and well over cooked, i asked for a chicken madras which they don't make! along with all famous other indian currys . the manager recommended a curry and stated very clear it was similar to madras . i trusted his judgement and was more than disappointed , as it was basically a korma (coconut milk based) with some chilli added, this is a huge difference as a madras is tomatoe based . to my horror i hate korma or anything to do with coconut . the saga loo is awful they over do it with too much spinage you cant even taste the potato and add cheese to it. my partner ordered the crispy lamb which was no better than our local Chinese take away accept it cost 14.50 our rice could have feed 4 people and they let us order two. our starters and main meal cost 91.53 . we did not eat hardly anything , and when asked why we didnt eat it i explained to the manager i dont like coconut this is why i asked for a madras he said sorry and still give us the 91.53 bill. to be honest i dont care about the money we have wasted , im more upset with the management and non authentic indian food. i absolutely love indian food more than i like shoes or handbags and was really looking forward to dining there regular as we live close by . also there website is currently not working properly so can not see the whole menu , ( you would think a restaurant with this price tag would have this sorted) definitely don't take your children (or child) like we did. i feel this should be clearly stated on the menu or website as they do not cater for children at all . the manger recommended fish fingers which cost 7.50 , these were fish with a curry paste deep fried in breadcrumbs. also the garlic naan is not fresh garlic and is too over powering . i dont feel they can justify the money they charge be prepared for a weird non indian chinese experience .

If you want to waste your money on a Liverpool posh night out then crack on, if not just get on a train to London for proper meal and night out. In general I was not very impressed at all. Food was poor, staff were down right rude. More club/pub than somewhere for a meal. Also beware the thuggy doormen.

The place out side and seating area was lovely then once i was seated and asked for my order i could see through to the cooking area it was filthy dirty the food was horrible and the price for two was a hundred and twenty pound we both could not even place the food in our mouths it is a wonder health an safety have not closed it.

We booked a table for four for Father's day by email a week previously. Their website states that they do not reply to confirm the bookings so we rang on the Friday before the reservation date. They confirmed everything was in order. We got there on the day with our two elderly guests and were told that they had no record of the booking. Their view was that we must have booked with their other "restaurant" whom we must also have rung to confirm. We didn't. We checked the phone number on our list of calls dialled on the mobile phone and rang it. They answered as "the Monro" and the number coincided with that on their website for the Monro (not the James Monro). We had contacted the correct premises. When we asked why they don't reply to emails to confirm bookings they told us that they were "too busy". They offered, however, to send us in a taxi to their other restaurant, the James Monro Speakeasy as it is billed! which we declined. Simply put, they ruined father's day for a pensioner, tried to make us appear stupid in the process (it could only have been our fault) and really didn't give a damn. We will never reserve a table with them again.

Went with our 2 kids aged 7 and 9. Staff very accommodating. Great food, great service. We especially enjoyed the desserts (so often a let down at restaurants).
