Excellent place to eat, apart from the price!!!
Zeera Tandoori – HeswallPlenty to choose from on menu although I opted for the 3 course banquet for people arriving before 9pm for £8.50 and duck & pancakes for an extra £2. Large portions and by the time the main meal arrived I was stuffed however they do let you take away any meals. Overall, an enjoyable meal at a reasonable price.
China City – Liverpool City CentreThis restaurant is excellent and well worth a trip. The food and service are as good as you will find in some of Liverpool's more notable restaurants but save yourself the taxi fare and give this place a go. Very cheap as well for the quality of the food.
Pauls Place – Mossley HillWent here with a few friends after a recommendation by someone who had tried the business lunch (which seems amazing value - its a miniature banquet almost!) From the pre meal snacks with unique pickles (when have you seen lemon pickle before?) to the starters which consisted of fishcake and seafood soup amongst others, some lovely main courses and rice dishes and a nice dessert rounded off a nice experience!
Maharaja South Indian Restaurant – Liverpool City CentreExcellent, hidden gem. Very authentic from the furnishings and service right through to the yummy food.
Siam Restaurant – GreasbyMy wife and I go to this restaurant most weeks and find it to be really good, although, not the least expensive of its kind. However, we consider it to give good value for the money. The staff are attentive and helpful and we would particularly like to say that Bernard is particularly good at dealing with customers.
Eastern Diner – Mossley HillMy favourite restaurant, the food and staff are honestly great!
Capitol Chinese Restaurant – BirkenheadWe had a fantastic night at Spire - great food, lovely staff and really nice atmosphere. I would recommend it to anyone.
Spire – WavertreeI spent a wonderful birthday evening meal here. Monro was chosen because of the claims of fresh food because I am not a fan of frozen ready-made pub meals. I was suitably impressed by every course of the meal and the service was with a smile. We also enjoyed a free bottle of wine courtesy of a Sugarvine offer. I would definitely recommend to my friends.
The Monro – Liverpool City CentreIt's simple dishes, nothing out of the ordinary, but deliciously prepared. Wonderful service, (the waiter even taught my friend the different functions on her camera when we asked for a picture) enough staff to get their attention when you want something but all kept busy so they aren't hovering over your meal! Good wine and all rather inexpensive. Highly recommend
Villa Romana – Liverpool City CentreA gem of a restaurant!! Quite possibly the most wonderful dining experience we have enjoyed in a couple of years. The ambience is warm and relaxing, the service pleasantly unhurried and attentive to detail, the front of house staff helpful, friendly and professionally discreet. The food was outstanding, prepared and presented to perfection. Regarding prices, we were 2 adults and 2 children having 5 starters,4 main courses, large beer and small beer, a litre of lovely house red, 2 cokes, jug of iced water, melon and grapes...£85.00 which is no more expensive than any of the Greek restaurants we have visited before...and there are many! Wonderful views as well as subtle and enjoyable music. A real treat...thank you.
Othellos – WooltonBest crispy duck on Merseyside! Yummy! The Yuet Ben's not at all flashy, but it doesn't need to be 'cause the food's fab and if you're lucky you'll get a table overlooking the Chinese arch while the sun sets. A real local's haunt, with a very loyal clientele, which I can understand - there's something strangely (and pleasantly) addictive about this place.
Yuet Ben – Liverpool City CentreNot the best Thai food I've had on Merseyside, but I suppose it's better than the other place in Liverpool that I've tried. The service is great - quick, friendly and polite - but the green curry I had was disappointingly not as authentic as I'd hoped. However, the restaurant has a good ambience, and the other punters there seemed to be having a great time!
Siam Garden – WavertreeBest Chinese food I've had on Merseyside, and that's saying something. The crispy chilli beef is outstanding, the chicken and cashewnuts is - ooh, I'm drooling just thinking about it. They could do with turning the heating up a notch - it's always a bit chilly - but that aside, a smashing place.
Jade Garden – HoylakeI feel like I'm going out on a limb here, but I went to the Gulshan last night, and I didn't think it was all that. The food was nice, and the quality of the meat especially was very good, but the "green" balti was brown, and wasn't as fresh and zingy as I was hoping. The dall we had was pretty standard, the sag aloo ok, but most of all the service felt really cursory. Looking at other reviews, it sounds like we caught them on a duff night, but it would have been nice if they'd smiled occasionally. I might go back for a takeaway, but I don't think I'd bother to eat in the restaurant again because the atmosphere just wasn't there.
Gulshan – AigburthWow! Who'd have thought that you'd find food like this tucked away in Greasby? The presentation of the cuisine is beautiful, the service delightful and the food absolutely mouth-watering. The little chicken parcels we had to start were fragrant and delicate, and the som tam was deliciously hot. My red curry really hit the spot, and my partner's jungle curry left him on a superb chilli high! Possibly the Wirral's best kept secret?
Siam Restaurant – GreasbyI think this is a really nice South Indian restaurant. I thought it was very authentic. I visited it for their Dosa and was very pleased. The Sambar was very good and lovely and thick. My only slight grouse was that they did not have the authentic coconut chutney that goes with it. However they are very accommodating and said if I ring couple of days beforehand then they will have it ready. Guess you cant really fault them for that then. Also I found the Sambar portion bit small, and they said that they had been throwing Sambar away as most English people did not finish it, but again just mention beforehand and they will provide an extra bowl of Sambar. I would definitely recommend to anyone who likes dosa to visit them.
Maharaja South Indian Restaurant – Liverpool City CentreZorbas is by far the best Greek restaurant in Liverpool! I have been to many and it is the best food.
