Sastrainer

Food was excellent. Watch the bill though as they automatically added a 10% service charge to the bill and then asked for a tip to go on the credit card as the service charge was not for the staff! Very naughty and a disappointment to the end of the meal. They would have got more in a tip if they hadn't automatically added the service charge for just 2 people.

Great little place, tucked away in Bolton centre. The food is fantastic and great value. The place has a real authentic feel about it too. We had an excellent meal and will certainly be going back !

This is my favourite place to eat in the world. The food is totally fresh and piping hot. We have about 10 1st courses between 4 of us and a couple of chicken kebabs and fabulous rice with fried onions on top. the 1st courses are to die for. Try: moutabal( smoked aubergine), baba ganosh, tabbouleh, falafel, potato kibbeh, ful ma dam ( hot green beans), fantastic chick peas and onions, lach biajeen ( a flat pancake with mince meat on).I have come every birthday for years and really once a week anyway. and what wonderful people.keep is a secret!

Myself and my family visited the Wiggin Tree on the 5th April 2008. Terrible! We went in on the off chance around 2pm. The restaurant and pub were both virtually empty. The menu did not have that much to choose from. I also had my four year old nephew with me and there was nothing for him to choose from so he had a side orde of chips. We ordered three steak and chips and a burger and chips. The steak was fatty and the chips were frozen. you also got a piece of lettuce and a slice of tomato. The burger was so small, half the size of the bun itself. The waitress hovered over us all the time making it uncomfortable to eat. The view is from the restaurant is breath taking, only to be ruined by an Asda van delivering the groceries! The whole meal Was just too dear for the quality that you received.

We have been going to the Old Bill for a while now and every time we go we are never disappointed! The chef cooks a lovely steak and the carvery is fantastic, great value for money. The owner, Lisa is always great fun and a lovely person which makes for a nice atmosphere. Highly recommended!

We went on Sunday 6 April, I was really looking forward to this experience after reading the reviews - shame it didn't live up to them. I loved the decor and the crockery, but all the dim sums were served on cold plates and made the food cold very quickly, the restaurant was cold - needed the heating on (so cold my partner put his coat on). The dim sums were some of the best I have had, but the main course with squid was too tough to eat. The manager apologized and offered drinks, but on the whole not an experience I intend to repeat.

We used to go here frequently but have not been for four years since we had a child and they don’t allow children in

oh my goodness - the BEST meal I have ever eaten in Manchester, bar none. Went having been intrigued by Simon Rimmer's laid back cooking on TV. He was there, came out to say hello and cooked brilliantly. I'm not a vegetarian, but this makes the meat/no meat thing irrelevant. great flavours, lovely presentation. Go, go, go

Visited this restaurant with friends who had travelled from America. Fabulous location and beautiful old country style pub. However the food leaves little to be desired. Recommend for a drink on a sunny afternoon but not for a meal.

I visited Leo's as a party of 8 on Thursday 3rd April 2008. Having not been for a few years due to moving out of the area I saw immediately that Leo's has not lost popularity or it warm and welcome feel. We all took advantage of the Monday to Thursday £11.50 special. Any Starter, Any Pasta or Pizza and Any Dessert. This is a steal and no wonder the place was full on a weeknight. The food was excellent, staff were very friendly and helpful and even though we were the last in we were not rushed out the door just quietly left to continue our conversations.

Recommended by a very good friend of ours who talks about this place like its the best thing since slice bread, me and my partner thought it was time we went too see what all the fuss was all about. I must point out, the real reason we had not gone before is that we live on the other side of Manchester and normally go to the city. Anyway we made an effort and went on the Saturday 16th February for a Valentine dinner for my partner as I was away on the 14th. We got there early but bar was fairly busy. We was welcomed by the manager who asked if we booked a table. At this point I was worried because I did not book. When I told him this, the manager was very friendly and said it would be ok and asked us to have a drink in the bar. We got a drink and had to stand at the bar as there was no seats. More and more people came in and 20 min went by. My partner did mention that we did not leave our name with the manager so things were not looking good. I felt a tap on my shoulder and it was the manager asking us to follow him to the table. He took us to a very nice table in the window and asked us if we wanted a drink He was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We had king prawns mussels to start which was fantastic and lamb and fish special for our main course. I must say was on of the best meals we have ever had. The place was packed but the service we excellent and friendly. We got to know our waiter who was a bit of a clown. The manager came over to ask us if everything was ok and I told him we will definitely be coming again. What a knight! Well worth the drive, and we are going back with our friends as soon as we get back from America.

Baci Restaurant – Bolton

Disappointing for those of us interested in world cuisine - asking the waiters or even Mr Khandoker himself gained us no further detail! We felt crammed into the restaurant (too many tables)& had the feeling that the waiting staff were doing their best & were probably being paid a pittance for their efforts. When the bill came we noticed that there was an extra addition of naan breads which we had not received, despite reminders, & when questioned, Mr Khandoker, with absolute glee, informed us that we had, nevertheless been undercharged by £10 ^ added this onto our bill! There was a nasty after-taste to our experience - one of cattle / herding us in & out / squashing us in etc all for money-grabbing reasons. Mediocre food, impersonal service & very nasty owner! Curry for the masses. Will never go back!

Khandoker – Didsbury

we have now frequented this venue on numerous occasions and although we have visited many restaurants this is my favourite. Initially on perusing the menu for the first time it seems expensive however i went for the cheapest cut of steak a 10oz rump at approx £13 (£16.50 with a lancashire cheese & bacon sauce) and it was unusually tender for rump. All the food is home made although surprisingly the onion rings are unfortunately of the frozen, buy in type. I dont see the need to pay for the considerably more expensive steaks as the quality is exceptional. This place is A1 for service & is very relaxing & cosy. If you have a healthy appetite this is the place to go.

The Fisherman’s Retreat – Ramsbottom

Probably the best restaurant in the world, it's just too handy. The chicken tikka sizzler is the finest I've tasted

Wonderful food. From the starters, main and the sweet section. Pricing was very very reasonable Very well cooked and presented. The Restaurant staff very attentive and saw to my wife's disabled needs.. It was our 40th (Ruby)Wedding Anniversary, our young lady server had dressed the table with celebration decorations, and we received a complementary bottle of pink champagne. We will most definitely return for a meal again and recommend to everyone. Thank you so much for a very memorable time and night. Joyce&Geoff
