the food was delish!
Wayfarer Restaurant – WiganHaving visited Akbars twice, the second time to confirm my first thoughts, I decided I would definitely be not going again. Although the food was OK, the level of noise,(very loud and echoey and called to your table by a tannoy system ) the extremely long wait for a table(you can not book) and the overall ambiance of a cattle market was a little off putting to say the least!!!! I find it hard to believe that anyone would wish to eat in these ungainly circumstances. I like to be able to hear what my friends are saying when eating out and don't want a waiter wiping the table with a dishcloth until I have left the premises! Oh well, call me old fashioned!
Akbars – Manchester City Centrewent there last month was awful, food, atmosphere and hygiene.
Black Dog Inn – BoltonA really nice cosy place with a great intimate atmosphere, good for couples and small groups. The food is really delicious and all freshly prepared. Me and my husband go all the time but make sure you book well in advance as it's really busy.
The Cedar Tree at the Sheaf – RochdaleWe entered the Mersey Farm and were immediately welcomed by a member of staff who explained the new style of service. The decor is very contemporary with lots of light wood and comfortable furniture. Our waitress was attentive and polite. The food was of a good standard and reasonably priced. We will visit again with our friends.
Mersey Farm, The – SaleThe decor does not do The Kakoli justice. The food and service are excellent and a place I would recommend.
Kakoli Tandoori Restaurant – Droylsden(3/10) I chose San Carlo because I wanted a quiet meal out in an upmarket classy restaurant. San Carlo certainly seemed to fit this bill and we all found the food to be really fantastic. Unfortunately though, the evening was spoilt when the staff found out it was my birthday and 3 or 4 waiters lined up to sing happy birthday to me whilst I was enjoying my quiet meal out. To be fair, If I had wanted this kind of cheesy circus act, I would have gone to TGI Fridays where this would have been expected. Call me miserable but to be honest, for people that want a quiet meal out and don't like the lime light this gesture is truly unwelcome. Mr Milne 05/09/07
San Carlo – Manchester City CentreThis is without doubt the worst restaurant in Wigan. The Staff are a bunch of ignorant French children, who probably didn't even come to the country legally. They are lazy, stuffily dressed, and throw tantrums whenever they were called over. I complained to the manager, and he just laughed. I had never felt so disgusted in all my life. The food was good, but the waiters ruined the evening, with their childish resentment of having to actually work.
Rigalettos – WiganI've been to Jitrada several times now, I know people who's favourite restaurant it is and there's good reason. The food is amazing, in fact my taste buds are going just thinking about it. The ribs in plum sauce are perhaps the finest thing i've ever eaten and the rest of the food is as good. We went to Thailand on our honeymoon and I didn't have a meal as good while I was out there, so praise in deed. Go and have the ribs, the duck spring role and the pad thai and you will be extremely happy
Jitrada Thai Restaurant – SaleWe had a very enjoyable lunch, the food was far superior to that served by any of my local restaurants/pubs. We will certainly return again and also recommend it to our friends.Thankyou
Micker Brook – CheadleAfter reading the recommendations of La Salsa thought I would give it try. On the evening of our visit a large party were also eating, i think they struggled to accommodate this ,as myself and my partner were left waiting . Having said this , they did redeem the slow service by the really fresh tasty food, the atmosphere was friendly, overall I would recommend a visit. If a Tapas takes your fancy give La Salsa a go. Lets support local small restaurants , rather than the mass produced versions claiming to be Tapas.
La Salsa – HorwichMy first visit to Piccolino’s and would definitely return . I normally try the restaurants that get recommended and they never deliver, this was a nice change. Book a table and see for your self don’t think you will be disappointed.
Piccolino- Caffe Grande – Manchester City CentreUrmston's prize atrraction. Food is mainly locally sourced and then outstanding things are done to it in what appears to be a tiny kitchen. Now they are open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, I can spend all day there!
Isinglass – UrmstonMy friend and I ate at Isinglass for the first time yesterday, and it definitely won't be the last! The ambience was intimate and the decor unobtrusive. The staff were friendly, the service was impeccable and the food was almost indescribable! I had the peppered steak to start which was delicious and moist and the salmon and prawn paupiette for my main which was cooked to perfection. I admit I was worried that the menu consisted of what I call 'fussy food', but the different flavours blended so perfectly I was desperate for the recipes! We thoroughly enjoyed our meals here and would highly recommend Isinglass to anybody.
Isinglass – UrmstonHaving Clients in from the US and Denmark I was looking to take them to an English restaurant, instead of the usual indian / chinese that they had requested. I stumbled onto the Isinglass through googling for an English restaurant in Manchester. The find was confirmed as a real gem from the moment we walked in through the door to the last spoon full of the ample deserts. This restaurant deserves to succeed as the mix of the old world charm the attentive waiting staff and the outstanding food is a winner. I can see why this establishment is a nomination for Mancheser City life Restaurant of the year 2007. My Clients were highly complimentary about the entire meal and stated that they would certainly like to eat there again.
Isinglass – UrmstonAfter reading the reviews on here a few weeks ago we decided to check it ourselves and have now been three times and are going again at the weekend! Having recently spent 5 months in India we were desperate for some good genuine Indian food and it hasn't disappointed - the food is absolutely gorgeous (especially the dosas)and the service is always great, really friendly and hospitable. Definitely recommended.
Punjab Tandoori – RusholmeCurry mile, hang your head in shame. Asian Fusion has every one of you beat hands down. Fabulous food (no puddles of ghee on top of your curry here) & friendly service. The best curry place I've ever been to. If you own a car and live in Manchester there's really no reason to go anywhere else.
Asian Fusion – ChorltonThe selection of food offered is always a good mix with a wide choice encompassing starters, mains and surprisingly wide and interesting selection of desserts. I've been there many times over the last two years and have never left disappointed. I'd happily recommend this place and have as a good quality establishment that take care and pride in cooking and presenting their food when compared to other similar places that are close by.
