We went for meal on Valentine’s Day as it is also my birthday. I had the pork belly and my wife the mushroom starters and both were very very nice. For mains we went for the rib eye steak and corn fed chicken. Again both were perfect. Our server was very polite and professional. We like to treat ourselves with a meal at the Hopping Hare now and again, and it never disappoints. Thank you.

Highly recommended restaurant. Some of the most amazing delicious food we have ever eaten. All food we tasted as stunning as it looked. Each plate was specious. The service was excellent, the waitresses were lovely and smiling from the moment we arrived. We definitely go back again.

Good Food & Beer, as usual - with attentive and friendly service

We booked for Sunday early evening Food absolutely amazing , looked great and tasted even better , massive compliments to chef clearly they care about what they do and about customers experience. What let the whole experience down was the service or lack of it. We had to ask for many things such as menus , extra drinks , sauces , dessert order etc . Just terribly slow and uninterested in whether we have a great experience or not. Manager nowhere to be seen.

Great food, excellent service

Booked for a family meal to celebrate my wife's birthday. The food, staff, atmosphere and indeed everything about The Admiral Nelson, lived up to and exceeded my expectations which, if I'm honest, we're already quite high. Nothing was too much trouble, service was attentive but not over bearing and everyone was more than satisfied with the quality and quantity of their meals. Can't wait to come back.

Enjoyable evening with great service, lovely atmosphere, very good burgers and an excellent couple of pints. Just what was needed on a winter’s evening.

Food is usually good. But came on Saturday afternoon & several items not hot. Soup was warm. Asked for mashed potato instead of chips for elderly relative. Charged £2 extra & again was only warm. Staff always friendly. It wasn’t the best meal we’ve had at the Nelson.

Cannot recommend enough! Some of the most beautifully delicious food I’ve ever eaten. Between us we tried the local venison, sea bass, pork belly, and fish & chips. Could not fault a single thing, it tasted as stunning as it looked. The care and attention that went into each plate was obvious. The service was wonderful, the staff knew exactly when to come to the table and when to step back. Always friendly and smiling from the moment we arrived. Counting down the days until we go back again.

Phenomenal food, the chefs are amazing at what they do..beautiful building, looks clean and tidy, and the young waitress was very well mannered and always had a smile ☺️ will definitely be going back

Service excellent, food arrived quick and was delicious. But portion was far too big so a lot of waste. Maybe offering a smaller plate for customers. But overall excellent

We had the Sunday roast and the quality was top notch (and the portion size more than generous). Staff were brilliant, attentive and highly efficient. Combined with the pleasant atmosphere in both the restaurant and the pub area it made for a very enjoyable experience and we will be back.
