Checcos – Preston
Preston in Lancashire is a cosmopolitan city located on the River Ribble and is also the home of the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN). Many restaurants and food pubs can be found in the city centre and its suburbs.
A group of 8 had a terrific meal there and we have been since and have recommended Checco's to our friends
Checcos – PrestonHad an amazing meal last night, everything, the venue, the staff and the atmosphere is always first class, the food was probably the best we've had in a long time so Thank You to the Chef...Tino. This is our favourite restaurant and we have had a few family functions which have always been fantastic with everyone commenting on the friendly staff and excellent food. Thank you
Tinos – Prestonwhat can i say the smiths arms is a place not to be missed the food is always excellent and the warm friendly staff are always very inviting i go at least once a week throughout the year and every time is a good as the last
Smiths Arms – PrestonRubbish
Porcinis – PrestonIf you want to try something a bit different this is the place for you. The Eastern European food is very good (have tried a couple of the dishes and they are excellent), the cakes are fabulous and not something you will normally come across. I can recommend the Polish baked cheesecake! There is a good selection of fruit juices and the biggest tea menu you will probably ever see. Its a very relaxing place and the service is excellent.
Mystery Tea House – PrestonWe visited the Double Tree the other night, and i must say in all the years i have been to Indian cuisine's in the country, Double Tree is most certainly up there as the best i have been to. Tremendous food with a variety to choose from, not like typical Indian cuisines i have been to. The restaurant is immaculate with modern decor, very well presented and extremely polite and courteous staff. Double tree is certainly the place to be.
Double Tree Indian Restaurant – PrestonWe had heard some very good reviews about this restaurant and decided to give it a try and visited on Thursday tea time at 5.30pm. The restaurant is quite tastefully decorated. We were the only two diners and were shown to our table and given menus. Our starter was the Banquet starter for 2 which consisted of 2 meat samosas, 2 chunks of tandoori chicken and lamb, 2 onion bhajis and some sliced garlic mushrooms with a fried chapatti. The starter was quite tasty but I found the samosa to be quite greasy and didn't try the chapatti as that was also greasy. For mains I chose Exotic Balti which consisted of chicken, lamb and prawns in a Balti sauce. DH ordered a chicken dish (the name escapes me) but it arrived a very vivid orange/red colour containing peppers. He said it was very sweet. We also shared an onion rice side dish which was very tasty but only a small portion for the £3.20 price tag! My Balti had slices of chicken and lamb and ONE king prawn – very mean I thought – and the sauce was not as good as I had anticipated, and I have had many Balti dishes. We had one bottle of King Fisher and one large lime and soda and the bill came to £40.35. I queried the charge of the lime and soda and was shocked to find it was £3.50!! Not impressed! Service was good and so it should have been with only us to wait on, but there were two other couples by the time we left. A nice touch however, was the rose, after eights and hot towel and oranges at the end of the meal. I have to say I was very much looking forward to this meal but left feeling quite disappointed .
Double Tree Indian Restaurant – PrestonAre you taking group bookings yet for Xmas lunches? if so please could you email your menus to me. Many thanks
The Cafe Bar – PrestonI would not recommend the restaurant but unfortunately cannot find any other email to complain about the poor food. On Thursday 29th July on recommendation myself and several others booked a meal. I ordered Biriyani and the chiken was full of bits of gristle and skin which totally put me off my meal and the sauce that went with it was luke warm. Several of us also had samosa's for starters and these were swimming in fat and not crispy at all. Others dishes were not up to a good standard and a lot of the food was left. I said nothing at the time as this was a special occasion and i didn't want to spoil it. I live around the corner from the restaurant and was hoping to be able to enjoy a takeaway weekly but after the food on Thursday i really don't think that will be the case unfortunately. I actually love Indian food and was extremely disappointed and would appreciate your comments. Mrs Cattle
Double Tree Indian Restaurant – PrestonAlways a good meal here and a nice setting too. Well worth the trip over from Blackpool. My son always takes his date here and it does offer something for everyone. You won’t break the bank by sticking with the pizza and pasta but if you want to splash out they have a great choice of main courses and also some top-end and large format Italian wines for the connoisseur.
Italian Orchard – PrestonThe Smiths Arms is a superb place to visit where you're made welcome by all of the staff that work there. They offer quality food and a good selection of drinks at a reasonable price. Go, you won't be disappointed.
Smiths Arms – PrestonMy family and I have been a customer of Sagar for years and would not go anywhere else! It is a fantastic place, with a friendly environment and fantastic staff and food! Highly recommended!
Sagar Premier – PrestonVisited this pub for a food last night. The pub is charming and very clean despite all the knick knacks. The food is very good, well cooked, well presented and tasty. However, the portion of chips for two was what I would call a decent portion for one! Also had a dessert which was also nice but not sure it was worth the £3.95 they charged for it. My one major complaint is that the landlady is a bit of a jeckyll & hyde character. Very pleasant and chatty until we asked where our dessert was after 35 minutes of patiently waiting (only waited 15 mins for main course). Got our heads bitten off for our trouble with the landlady complaining that they were dealing with starters and mains and there are only 3 of us. Think the problem was that there was a bit of a surge in customers but still no excuse for rudeness! Would I go again? Yes for the food if the service was less changeable - don't think I will be in a rush to go back any time soon.
Green Man – Prestonvery expensive service ok i suppose ive seen better
Trattoria San Marco – PrestonVisited Pond on Monday 11 July for a graduation celebration meal having read all the good reviews. How disappointing it turned out to be Peruvian stew with chicken still looking for chicken !! had to ask for bread that is supposed to come with stew see previous comments by others along same line .Gambas pil pil nice but very few prawns bit of a let down really but they did reduce bill upon request wont hurry back
Duk-Pond – PrestonWhat fantastic food and even better service. A hidden gem.
Thai Orchid The – PrestonJust want to say that I went to this restaurant last Friday with my husband and father. Both husband and father love Indian food, whereas it doesn't normally appeal to me. We arrived and were seated immediately - though the waiter forgot our menus initially. The food was excellent, and this restaurant could convert me into loving Indian food. It was all fresh, tasty and enjoyable. Good size portions and some different choices for food. I took part of my meal home with me for the following day the portion sizes and food quality was that good. Also was impressed that it had a good selection of wine, which normally doesn't happen at Indian restaurants. I think our only criticism would be that there was no time between courses, and we were still munching on poppadoms when our starters came out - we had arrived, ordered wine and food, eaten, paid and in a taxi and home within two hours. Our party all enjoy spending longer over meals and time talking between courses rather than course arriving as soon as the previous one was finished. Some of the staff were also a bit slapdash - our thoughts were that they were more used to working in a take away rather than a restaurant. Overall I would certainly recommend this restaurant to others, but would also advise the staff to take a bit more care over their service and not to rush diners as much.
Double Tree Indian Restaurant – PrestonWe had our first take out from the Double Tree last night and well what can I say ...... AMAZING!! Some of the best Indian food I have tasted in years and we will be visiting there VERY soon for a meal. Love the way they have things like venison etc on the menu. WE had stopped having Indian takeouts due to the horrible stodgy feeling you normally get after but our meal last night was so light and you could just tell that all the ingredients etc were fresh, wonderful!
