Nonsuch Lounge and Sports BarThe food was delicious, staff very friendly and professional. Lovely atmosphere. Only one small criticism would be only a choice of 2 puddings. Delicious puddings nonetheless. Would highly recommend to anyone reading this.
Hamnavoe – Orkneys and ShetlandsMy wife and I had a fantastic meal when we visited on Saturday. It was a first time but certainly won’t be our last. The quality local produce has been presented perfectly with a Korean twist by the chef and his team. You won’t get food anywhere else in Orkney like it - a true gem. The staff were also very friendly and attentive throughout - even though it was a busy evening! We honestly couldn’t recommend highly enough… can’t wait to try the Sunday roast!
Hamnavoe – Orkneys and ShetlandsEvery aspect was superb. Once again we blown away by the food and service. Staff night out for a group of 6 and high praises from every member of our group. We will definitely be back soon again.
Hamnavoe – Orkneys and ShetlandsWe first visited this restaurant over 30 years ago and it is wonderful that the current incarnation of the Hamnavoe Restaurant continues its record of excellence. The innovative cooking using local ingredients and creating a delicious fusion of Far Eastern and Western cooking, sets this establishment apart in Orkney. The wine list is also very imaginative with good examples in the main categories of wines than one would expect to find on a restaurant wine list. The inclusion of a very fine English sparkling wine from the Lewes vineyard in East Sussex was noted and very much enjoyed. The Fleurie also punched above its weight, and went well with the lamb, a sign of climate change and its effect on the harvesting of the Gamay grapes in hotter conditions in Beaujolais. I am delighted that my wife and I live only a ten minute walk away from this restaurant and look forward to visiting it again soon.
Hamnavoe – Orkneys and ShetlandsConvenient town centre location and comfortable restaurant area. Friendly and attentive service. Party of 3 all enjoyed their meal which was good value and nicely presented. Option of 1, 2 or 3 courses. Will be happy to return for lunch or evening menu.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingLovely birthday lunch with friends- lunch menu was good and reasonably priced
Ravelston House – EdinburghExcellent meal - could not fault any aspect of this meal in terms of quality and quantity it was delicious. Only "fault" was the house was in insistent we ordered all courses at the same time and paid in advance ("we want to cash up the Restaurant Till") which gave us a feeling of being rushed (it was only 07.30 and 2 other people dining), otherwise all good.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingHad an delicious ham salad here with friends on Sunday afternoon. Ham salad was not on the menu we wanted but we asked the waitress if it was possible to have this and she went and checked and came back and said we could. So 5 ham salads ordered and very much enjoyed. The staff were excellent and we were particularly impressed with the lovely smiling German waitress. She was such a lovely person and couldn’t do enough to help us. The rest of staff were very good too I must add. Looking forward to our next lunch date. Thank you all and complements to the chef(s).
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingSuperb food - the best fresh Orkney ingredients like lobster, scallops and beef, but inventively combined with Korean elements. I used to have to fly to Edinburgh to get food this interesting - delighted to have it on our doorstep in Stromness. If you're expecting classy surroundings to go with the fine dining this might not be for you - but for me the feeling of being in someone's living room is all part of the experience. Book well ahead - it's small and fills up quickly. And make sure you have the yuzucello with your dessert!
Hamnavoe – Orkneys and ShetlandsWe booked a dinner, bed and breakfast package and the fixed menu had lots of choice and the quality of food and service was very good. Would definitely recommend Cronies restaurant.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingWe were met just inside the door by a very friendly waitress. There was also a homely coal fire. We were directed to a table and our coats were taken to be hung up. Service was very cheerful and efficient. I had soup followed by beef, the food was excellent. The price is good considering how good the meal was. That's the 3rd time I have ate there since they opened in June 2022. Very good every time, I highly recommend it.
Hamnavoe – Orkneys and ShetlandsLunch again on Sunday with a guest from overseas and as usual it was fine. My friend always now suggests the Ravelston House when we meet on his periodic visits. The menu is the usual suspects with a Sunday roast added, but it is none the worse for that. I also have occasion to attend club functions there, and I cannot fault it for food or service.
Ravelston House – EdinburghHad lunch with friends on Saturday 5 th November beautiful meal friendly staff and lovely surroundings would definitely recommend.
The Golden Lion Hotel – StirlingInteresting and varied menu with regular changes - food excellent. Staff helpful without being intrusive.
Hamnavoe – Orkneys and ShetlandsThe warm reception, beautifully presented meal, sensational service all combined to create one of the most extraordinary fine dining experiences in my life time. We were celebrating the fiftieth wedding anniversary of our friends and the pudding with candles were presented with theatricality and pizazz!
Hamnavoe – Orkneys and ShetlandsHigh tea was great value for money . Steak pie was delicious . Service was friendly and fantastic. I would recommend that this is the best place to eat in Stirling .x
