Love coming here for food. Everything is fresh, full of flavour and the portions are massive! The staff are amazing, so friendly, always happy to help. Would recommend this place to everyone. My only suggestion would be to have a bit of music playing in the background. Nothing too loud, but I think it would complete the setting.

My favourite restaurants in South Shields. I visited yesterday with a friend and once again had a faultless, delicious meal. They have an amazing, extensive main and dessert menu to suit all tastes. The cosy atmosphere and excellent staff make it a pleasure to eat there. Highly, highly recommended

What a wonderful venue for breakfast! Very friendly welcome by very attentive staff. Great breakfast options on the menu all at great prices too. The belly buster certainly lived up to its name…. perfectly cooked and a tasty treat to start the day. Highly recommended!

A wonderful evening meal from the special 2 for £20 Monday evening deal. First class dining in a friendly atmosphere with fantastic views! The Steak pie was delicious… brim full of huge steak piece…Unbelievable! The chicken kiev was beautifully cooked and again, a huge piece of chicken. Both included side dishes and tasty chunky chips! The staff are always so attentive and friendly and such a credit to the Harbour Lights. Highly recommended for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Came for Mother's day lunch on Sunday - had booked a table in advance but was told on arrival the table had been taken by someone else!! We were then sat on two tables pushed together behind the bar- not very comfortable and the music was so loud I couldn’t have a conversation with the person sat next to me!! Very excited to try the Porchetta after seeing photos and reviews on Facebook unfortunately the meat that was served to me was 1 slice of razor thin pork - not sure about the stuffing it was supposed to have as the whole meal was completely swimming in gravy and certainly had no crispy crackling, the Leek gratin was dried out and the whole plate had a crusty outline where it had obviously been sat under a hot plate! I would have sent it back for a different meal - however no staff to be found until they came back to clear the plates!! Most disappointing meal and will unfortunately not be returning.

Sunday lunch on Mothers Day extremely disappointed! Porcetta shown on social media couldn’t be further from the dish brought out to me and my family! What can only be described as razor thin slice of fatty meat so thin it was see through and not a hint of cracking to be seen. I understand the staff were busy and they work hard although the lack of customer service did not help our situation and we left disappointed never to return. We were sat in back of the building with zero ambience and music blasting next to our table we couldn’t even hear each other. Don’t believe the hype of socials

Love this place! Has a great comfortable feel about it, with attentive friendly staff, efficient service & lovely food. Be sure you're hungry as the portion size is generous. We'll be back

Great food and excellent service by the young staff, my parents, myself and young daughter really were looked after. I had the meatballs in the dough bowl which were very nice

Atmosphere and service lovely. Paid £22 for a meat platter which was all dry, over cooked and struggle to eat.

We went for the fresh fish menu. The normal menu was also on. There was lots of fresh fish options. The monkfish was lovely and meaty. My son has the sword fish and it was a huge portion. Really good value for money. You definitely wouldn't get that quality of fresh fish for the price anywhere else. Excellent service too.

Very impressive fish menu. I had the tuna steak which was a good size and perfectly cooked. My wife had battered cod and chips which she said was very good. Fish menu currently renewed each Wednesday and offered first come first served until they run out. Good value for money. Nice place, great food and service. We’ll be back!!!

Went for a meal to the harbour lights after a family funeral 11 of us not one bad meal out of all 11 of us all spot on the food was hot when it was served really tasty and big portions staff are lovely and friendly and attentive can’t fault the place.

Always a pleasure to visit the Harbour Lights! Staff are very friendly and the service is first class. Great friendly atmosphere with great food on offer. Lots to choose from the menu. Food is always lovely and piping hot and served quickly. Highly recommended. Dog friendly pub too!

We had a lovely Sunday Lunch in the Harbour Lights Sunday 8th. I had the Belly Pork which melted in your mouth. My husband had the feather blade of beef which was so tender. The yorkshires were great, the veg excellent and extra gravy. Would highly recommend for Sunday Lunch. The service was quick and all the staff are friendly can’t do enough for you
