Wonderful friendly staff, all meals were incredible, fast service but didn’t rush us with anything. Would 100% recommend

This was our second visit. This time taking my parents. Ordered our food and drinks. Slight wait on the food but when it arrived everything looked good and was piping hot. I thoroughly enjoyed my beef and onion pie, filled to the brim with pulled beef brisket. My husband had the pan fried chicken chorizo. Another great dish, I had had this on our first visit and wasn't disappointed. My mum had the smaller plate fish and chips, she said this was a perfect size as she fancied a dessert. My dad had the cumbernauld sausage. He enjoyed it but was slightly disappointed with the size of the sausages.. We have visited other restaurants and feel you get more for your money. Just one observation, the menu states veg, on both occasions this has been green beans and tenderstem broccoli. I would prefer a choice, possibly carrots and cauliflower. Service was good and the 2 servers we had were very polite and accommodating, just marked down 1 as felt like we had to keep shouting them over. All in all, a fab visit and will definitely be returning.

Haven’t been in for a while so was great to go last night - foot & service were both superb, nicely busy for a Wednesday too. Really good value gor money too - it won’t be too long until next visit…

Staff were very accommodating, when we arrived early due to our walk being cut short because of the great British weather! The food was delicious(2 roasts and fish & chips) the roast potatoes were the best I’ve had in a long time! Staff were attentive throughout our meal checking in and taking drinks orders throughout. Outdoor area looked lovely too, will be back hopefully on a dry day!

Delicious Sunday roast Lush cauliflower cheese Beautiful fish & chips Great idea having smaller plates on the menu for smaller appetites Lovely atmosphere, great views, Grandson loved seeing the horses Attentive staff., friendly and welcoming First visit and we were not disappointed. Very busy service so we had to wait a while with a hungry 2yr old but we managed. Would definitely return but would pre book the Yorkie wrap platter as they had run out.. great for families Superb value for money..

Great meal - delicious pizza, very reasonable price, cheerful service. Cannot fault it.

Great service plenty of food Sunday dinner was lovely.

Nice old pub, we were made welcome in the bar along with our dog. Plenty meat options on the menu but limited vegetarian options. The fennel Al Forno sounded a little different and it was but unfortunately a little too salty and quite a small portion, it didn't fill me up and I don't have a big appetite. I'm not too sure the desert price on the menu matched the price on the bill. My partner was reasonably happy with his Sunday roast dinner and I'm sure we will visit again, we love old pubs like the Shepherds Rest and like to do our bit to keep them going.

I’ve been here before but my partner hasn’t. I booked a table and we had such a lovely time. We were in the bar area but I didn’t request / mention a window seat in the booking. However, it was an absolutely lovely experience. The staff and food were lovely and the staff were very attentive. We will be going back.

We came for a family outing on Friday, lots of people from all over and had a wonderful time! Staff welcomed us warmly, dogs got treats and lots of attention and the food was amazing. We tried a few dishes, but our favourites; the burger board, wow, sausage & mash we can’t stop thinking about and the salt & pepper surf & turf!!! We will return x

Brilliant Sunday lunch! Visited with friends. Staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The Sunday lunch was excellent - really tasty fresh produce and good portion sizes. Small wait for food but to be expected if you want everything fresh and worth the wait.
