Took my Mum for afternoon tea as we had been before a couple of months the ago. We arrived at 1pm as I had pre booked. The place was deserted, we shouted hello but nothing. After a couple of minutes we walked through to reception. Then a waitress appeared. We were the only ones there so no atmosphere. Last time they had already prepared our afternoon tea so brought it out with the drinks which was great. This time the drinks were brought out then we waited about half an hour before the food came which meant that our drinks were now cold so we had to order more. The waitress was lovely but we won't be going again sadly. Don't understand why there never seems to be anyone else there.

Gorgeous food, lovely friendly staff and varied menu. Have only been at lunchtimes so far but have been very happy with everything each time. Such a great place!

Beautifully decorated pub in a lovely location. Great play area for children and a lovely stream.. Booked for 6, on a Wednesday at midday, Cold welcome from staff, poor service as had to ask for everything we needed, cutlery, small plates to be cleared when mains delivered , sauces etc. Don’t understand why we couldn’t order starters, then mains, just made it inconvenient having to go back and forth for each order. Food was nice, Such a shame as this place could be far nicer with some friendly, attentive staff

Whenever in the area we'll always come to Y Sgwar for a meal The food, service and atmosphere in the restaurant are all fantastic. In multiple visits the experience has always been outstanding, a little gem of a restaurant

Our party of four enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea at Holt Lodge yesterday. The food was delicious and the service excellent It certainly was an excellent way to celebrate the birthdays of two ladies with their husbands. Many thanks.

Very nice welcome, excellent service and exceptional food cooked to perfection Staff are very friendly and attentive My husband had fillet steak which was “superb” I had Thai flavoured crusted cod which was equally as good. Definitely our favourite place !!!

Having read numerous good reviews on Trip advisor I booked a table online. we entered to a warm welcome and the waitresses were very attentive and cheerful during meal. Food was very well presented and the flavours were excellent in every course. Very reasonable prices for the quality of food, would have no hesitation in recommending dining there.

The atmosphere at the restaurant is very welcoming and the staff are attentive without intruding into your evening. The front of house person was extremely helpful and you were made to feel that your booking was important and that the staff would take care of your needs. The food arrived in perfect time, enough between courses without feeling that you had been forgotten. The food was exceptional, hot, tasty and very well presented. There was a good choice, including vegetarian and vegan options. Overall it was a fantastic evening, great food, great atmosphere and excellent service.

What a positive experience! Great family Sunday lunch. Such a friendly welcome from all of the very efficient, good humoured team. Very well informed about special dietary needs. Staff were very friendly and were very accommodating for my sister who has special dietary requirements telling her exactly what was in the meals and offering to make changes and substitutions to accommodate her :)

Great food, Great service and value for money.

Lorraine, Yol and the team always make you feel so welcome. The food is consistently excellent and the service consistently friendly and exceptional. We've tried the set menu, a la carte, early bird and Sunday lunch. Probably tried everything on the menu too! It simply tastes fantastic and is beautifully presented. We go back time and time again because we enjoy it there so much!

Come here. Eat the food. It's amazing.
