Absolutely fantastic as always
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleWe ate here two nights in a row. The first night we both had belly pork which was lovely. I asked if they offered a single person cheeseboard as my husband did not eat cheese, but they said no. So I declined a final course, but my husband had a desert and everything was very nice. We went to pay the bill on our card and the server asked if we would like to leave a tip, which was not appreciated as we always leave a tip in cash on the table or in a tip basket. However, on this occasion we did include the tip on the card, but I felt it was very rude approach. We returned the next day and had rack of lamb which consisted of two tiny, rib bones of meat, a very large potato which was not completely cooked, 1 carrot and some sprigs of broccoli. At £27.00 this was overpriced. We both had a desert, but we were both still hungry. Consequently we did not return for a third night. Overall pretty average and if this restaurant had more competition they would need to up their game with customer service and consistency with quality of food.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereAn excellent meal. We shared olives and bread for starters, both had roast rack of lamb, and then the bakewell tart and the eccles cake with ice cream. It was all delicious in a friendly, relaxed environment.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereDon’t like to submit a negative comment. Positive their local beer was excellent my main was super (venison). Had a large Labrador with us and had to put him in car as lack of space ,waited 35 minutes for our deserts . We had to leave as dog left in car
Pheasant Inn – KeswickBangin
Harry’s Cafe Bar at Yew Tree Barn – Grange-over-SandsWe had a lovely meal at the Pheasant. The food was excellent quality and the portion sizes were generous. The venison bourgingon was particularly good. Great choice of ales too.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickWhat a find. The meal was outstanding. The scallops were
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereThe food was excellent, without having to wait very long, service was pleasant and friendly. Lovely and cool in the pub area a welcome break from the stifling heat.
Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithFirst time eating here and it was an excellent discovery. The food is the main reason to come here, and each course was superb. The scallops starter here were as good as I've had at a Michelin star taster menu, cooked perfectly and so soft. The main was a little unexpected, by that I mean it was larger than expected, which was a good thing. Seabass was beautifully cooked and the vegetables were plentiful. I still had room for dessert and both the choices at our table were really good. For service, the gap from being seated to our drinks order being taken was a little long but apart from that really good service all night. The atmosphere was also really good for a bistro in a village, had the more formal dining feel but not pretentious in any way. I also liked that dogs were allowed, we didn't have ours but I feel this is essential in the Lake District with everywhere expected to allow them (this was helped by the dogs in there being very well behaved). We will definitely be returning here next time we are in the area. We ate in the Daffodil hotel the other 2 nights (which was very good) but this meal was the best we had this week.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereThis was the second time that our party of six had dined here and the food and service was, again, very good. One of our party is Gluten intolerant and there was no problem accommodating her dietary requirements. We were not staying at the hotel but, nonetheless, were made to feel very welcome by the friendly and efficient staff.
Rothay Garden Hotel – GrasmereThis pub is really clean and the staff are friendly. We had Sunday lunch which was tasty and served on hot plates so kept the meal warm. There was plenty of meat, the gravy was tasty and it was good value for money
Greyhound Inn Cotehill – Carlislevisited yesterday with my husband & 3 sisters for lunch & the food didn't disappoint it came piping hot & service as always excellent. when visiting Carlisle from Wigan we always eat here. Excellent value for money. I would highly recommend
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleOur fourth visit ,we have dined in some of the best restaurants in the world, this restaurant is up there with them. Many thanks.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe loved our evening at Lewis’s Bistro. The food was exceptional and the service impeccable. Not keen on dogs in restaurants so hence atmosphere marked down slightly. Would definitely recommend.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe live in Keswick but dont eat out that often. We had heard good things about the Pheasant Inn, Keswick so booked a table for my birthday. The pub was really busy and all tables were occupied so I was glad we had pre-booked. The staff were dashing around serving food but they were really friendly and welcoming. The food I gotta say was absolutely fabulous. I ordered the chicken, ham and leek pie which came with a beautiful tarragon & madeira sauce and side veggies. My husband had the salmon with crushed potatoes and brocolli. We both loved the food so much we have booked again for my husbands birthday.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickLovely meal, good value for money
