Had a meal on Sunday afternoon. The food was great as normal but the service was a bit off. Tables not cleared, drinks ordered but not delivered and several extra drinks put on the bill.

The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeWe were a big group with several young children celebrating a birthday. We were warmly welcomed and the food was good. The children were catered for and their was space for them to entertain themselves. Service was food. Altogether a lovely evening.
The Music Room Restaurant at Augill Castle – Kirkby StephenWent for Sunday lunch and had booked the day before. However it was very busy and our table was tucked away by the side of the stairs and so was quite dark and cramped. However the staff and service was very good and the Sunday dinner couldn’t be faulted. Will certainly go again but not at that table. It wasn’t really suitable for anyone to eat their dinner.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeA really lovely place to eat with an intimate and cosy feel. Really friendly staff and most importantly the food was exceptional and the service was quick. Great selection of drinks as well.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereAnother great meal last night only thing was seated up stairs near the door and there was a cold draft coming up the stairs the staff sorted it got a bit cold and spoilt the night but will still re-book
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleThis place is amazing. The staff are always friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is so warm and welcoming. And as for the food we have never had a bad meal I would definitely recommend this place.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeFood was fabulous with generous portions. Excellent sea bass and chicken. Lovely atmosphere.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereUpon arrival, staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were quickly sat and offered teas and coffees. Our afternoon tea shortly followed which was lovely. Different to the norm - offering half a panini, prawn cocktail and a sausage roll each in replacement of sandwiches which was novel and delicious. Thank you!
The Music Room Restaurant at Augill Castle – Kirkby StephenAmazing and friendly service, decorated table for me for my daughters 30th food was amazing couldn't do enough for us. Will definitly be back and would highly recomend.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleGood service, enjoyable food and a nice pint of Swan. If I had one observation, I would have appreciated some mashed potato with the Venison Stew. I had to leave some delicious gravy, it broke my heart !
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeWe had afternoon tea on Saturday, but whilst the food was good, the single member of staff was very busy both running the bar and serving food. It was disappointing to be sat at a small table at the back of the bar behind groups of people on the sofas eating bar food and having drinks. It was very loud in the room, not helped by being under the music speaker. We asked for the music to be turned down, but after an hour, it was turned back up which we took as a signal that we should leave. We won't be back.
The Netherwood Hotel and Spa – Grange-over-SandsHas anybody ever ordered and finished 3 courses at The Pheasant. A starter/main - main/pud might just be possible if you haven’t eaten all day. Wholesome food, good service and a great atmosphere all make for a satisfying evening after a day on the fells.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickLovely meals, I really enjoyed the roulade (gluten free) and sticky toffee pudding Gluten Free meals available
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithThis was our first visit to The Pheasant but it certainly won’t be the last.Lovely, welcoming and authentic pub, and a good range of local meals. Lots of choice, including venison, fish, pies, and veggie options. Definitely a cut above the average pub options in nearby Keswick We were served within minutes and both chose the lamb Henry. Delicious, mouthwatering lamb in a lovely sauce. Huge amount of meat and generous portions of seasonal vegetables. Would have loved to try something from the dessert menu, but no room. Good range of beer and wines too. Friendly, thoughtful service; owners very much in evidence too. Excellent value for money. We will definitely return next time we visit Keswick. Thank you for a good evening
Pheasant Inn – KeswickSome of the best vegan food, or just food in general I've eaten in a long time. Lovely service and the little dog is just gorgeous
