We stopped off for afternoon tea on the drive back from Edinburgh to Nottingham, it was a perfect way to break up the long drive. The castle is just lovely, the perfect setting for an afternoon tea, it's really cosy and family orientated on the inside. The staff were lovely and really attentive and made us feel right at home. The afternoon tea was delicious! Something a little different to your regular old sandwiches and cakes. Would definitely recommend a stop by if you are in the area.

We booked in advance for Sunday Lunch and on arrival we were allocated our table straight away. Very busy however we ordered and received our meals fairly quickly. I had the roast beef which was excellent and Ann had the Lakeland beef pie which was similarly excellent, both served with a choice of 4 vegetables. If in the area again we will definitely visit.

Had the Sunday roast perfectly cooked as always.

We thoroughly enjoyed dinner al fresco at Lewis's last week. Despite the busy evening, they were very attentive and the food was exceptional :) Very well done! :)

Wasn’t over impressed with the smoked mackerel pâte, but the roast beef and Yorkshire pud was excellent as was the salmon.

Me and my son chose this restaurant as it seemed to have a good website with allegedly authentic Italian cooking. We had garlic mushrooms: These were not pan fried, but appeared to have boiled in the microwave with garlic sauce and mozzarella cheese and piping hot. We ordered a magarita pizza and vegetable pizza.: The pizza was ultra thin, very much like Middle Eastern bread, nothing like real Italian pizza and we have eaten all over Italy , from Campania to Toscana. It seemed like the dough was frozen previously not made on the premises. The side salad was nice and they served good chunky chips. Deserts looked good. If they want to improve their reputation , they should review their menu and the way their food is made, using no short cuts to make real authentic Italian food. The staff were pleasant, nice and courteous, but food was too quick coming to the table. Not all Italian restaurants in U.K. or abroad are brilliant. Some are good , some are mediocre and some are bad. La Mezzaluna is average.

Had an excellent two course Sunday Lunch, plenty of meat and all the trimmings and a good choice of deserts. Very good value for money and dog friendly. Very friendly staff too.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch which we had booked for 2.15. It was flavoursome and plentiful. Only issue was there was no beef or chicken left so we had to have the pork which apparently we were told does not come with Yorkshire pudding? I queried this but the kitchen confirmed that if you order pork, it does not come with Yorkshire pudding. Apart from that disappointment lunch was nice, waitress as helpful as she could be despite being very busy. We would return.

Excellent food in a relaxed environment. Extremely friendly and efficient service. Good value for money. The air conditioning was a godsend on a sweltering hot day!

Lovely bistro and dog friendly too. Great food and attentive service. Ordered a bottle of the Amarone (Chef's favourite) and it didn't disappoint.

Oh dear , where to start!!! Massively under staffed, as a result told not serving starters. Instead of limiting bookings it was rammed. We waited over an hour for our meals which considering we had young tired children was annoying. We weren’t told of a wait and no one came to apologise or reassure us. The meals arrived but unfortunately the fish that was served was off. When I spoke to the manager I was offered 10% off the fish. Totally unacceptable. Finally the manager did take the cost of that meal off the bill but it was very awkward! A real shame as I had booked this meal months in advance.

Absolutely loved the food and a really enjoyable evening meal. Staff were fantastic and we will visit again when we are in the area

My wife and I really enjoyed our meals, varied menu choice, excellent service, relaxing atmosphere, will definitely be back when next in Grasmere.

Beautiful meal served by attentive friendly staff. Would highly recommend & will definitely be back.
