Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereSecond visit here when on holiday in the area - liked it so much the first time we came a year or so back that we decided to return and so glad we did. The food was outstanding and our coeliac nephew was able to enjoy a 3 course gluten free meal which isn’t always possible. Brilliant place.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeA nice comfortable little bistro.Laid back atmosphere, small menu but understandable as only one chef. However the menu is varied, something for everyone. The belly pork and black pudding starter very good and the fillet was well cooked and rested. The young waiter was a really nice guy,a real asset to this business ,I feel that if he hadn’t been there our visit would not have been so good. Lowest mark for VFM as I thought it a bit pricey at around £125 for two courses for a couple, mind you that included a couple of drinks and wine. I always think “would I recommend or go back again”,the answer to both is YES.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereA most friendly reception at a busy time. Service was efficient and the youngster in her first few days was to be commended. Obviously good training. We had been lucky to get our table as Bistro almost full, but this did not detract from the quality of the food which was very tasty and well presented.Shame we live too far away to frequent this spot! I sat with my back to the room, so marked the atmosphere down (4.75/5)
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereExcellent food and very good value. The tagine was particularly good.
Pheasant Inn – Keswick5***** Food is absolutely superb and so reasonably price. Definitely would recommend. Will definitely be going back
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleWe enjoyed evening meal here 25th June. Staff very helpful and friendly. Food was good value and a decent bottle of red. Would eat here again if in yhe area.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe had an absolutely delightful meal at this wonderful hotel. Greeted with warmth from the get go and the waiting on staff in the diningroom were impeccable and attentive. Our food was exquisite and well presented. With a view over the bay, from our table, to die for.The hotel itself was immaculate and very inviting. I can’t wait to come back for another meal and to try out the Spa.
The Netherwood Hotel and Spa – Grange-over-SandsCan’t beat Oilys….it’s the best eating place in the area..clean, bright, and very tasty and reasonably priced meals…try it .
Oily’s – WorkingtonExcellent food, great atmosphere, we would recommend The Pheasant Inn to our friends
Pheasant Inn – KeswickExcellent dinner with delicious meat pies !! Service was great and waiter had great suggestions and very friendly demeanor - would highly recommend!
Pheasant Inn – KeswickMy husband and I had a lovely evening meal at the bistro The service, food and wine were all lovely and our highlight was the the desert of warm Eccles cake with ice cream I would recommend the bistro to anyone staying in grasmere
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereOverall the experience was disappointing. It did not meet our expectations. At first we noticed that the top of the table water bottle was not clean( I wiped the top of the bottle with a tissue to remove the black sediment ). We both agreed that the fish (halibut)was over cooked - quite ‘chewy’ and lacking in flavour. The beans were also over cooked.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereGorgeous food in a lovely restaurant. We could have happily eaten here every evening of our visit to Grasmere.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereGood atmosphere in the pub but option to sit outside on the day would have been appreciated as it was a gorgeous day outside on the 20 June 2022. One waitress was too scantilly clad. Good behind the bar perhaps but not for serving food. The Waitress was beautiful yes I agree, and generally harmless but better more covered up. Food was served piping hot which was good at the end of the meal although no one offered the bill I did feel like we were being rushed out but this was probably just efficient service with the clearing up. Generally good responses from all of the party on the food with the Madras receiving good praises. The lamb appeared to be cooked to perfection and no complaints there. My vegetarian meal was not what I expected so I should have asked first and it was certainly piping hot.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickWe had lovely meal at The Pheasant Inn on our first night in Keswick. The food was really tasty, home cooked comfort food, very generous portions, along with great friendly service. They were short staffed and yet the team were all calm and welcoming. We will definitely be coming back during future trips!
Pheasant Inn – KeswickVery friendly staff, very tasty food served quickly. They were fantastic with our dog even bringing her treats. There was a singer/comedian on the night we visited which was a great addition to the experience. Would recommend and will visit again.
