Sage and Vine – CarlisleAfter a first visit, we booked directly a table again for two days later. The food on both evenings was delicious. The portions have been so generous that we had to skip the dessert.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickVery happy with our recent meal, which we chose from the specials board. Impressed with the quality of the food, which was served by friendly staff. If any downside it's only the very limited parking.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithThe food was very average staff were friendly but bit chaotic and place was dirty and not well cared for. Would not recommend.
Pig and Whistle – CartmelHad another amazing meal at our favourite and best restaurant in Carlisle. We had the bread and dips for starters then pizza's and small plates for our daughters 18th birthday meal. Staff were great as always. Will definitely be back soon.
Sage and Vine – CarlisleIt's been a couple of years since we were last at the Pheasant and I'm pleased to say it did not disappoint. Food was delicious and despite arriving early on a busy evening our table was ready. I would recommend the Pheasant. Lovely short walk to it through the park from Keswick.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickTop class food, beautifully prepared and presented, huge portions…. No room for pudding!
Pheasant Inn – KeswickEnjoyed a lovely evening meal at Lewis’s bistro last evening. There were some menu choices unavailable but the courses we chose were all tasty and beautifully presented. Particularly loved the Pork Belly. Good service from all team members and a lovely atmosphere. Thoroughly good experience and we will definitely plan a return visit when back in Grasmere!
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe booked at the last minute but still managed to get a table for 8pm on a Friday night. Staff were very friendly, good was great. Definitely a place to go back to.
Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithFurther to my review of my Tuesday meal, I can now review yesterday's meal, which was the Lamb Henry. Once again the food was fabulous, the atmosphere in the old pub was lovely and the staff were great, with particular thanks to Fred; every successful business should have a Fred.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickFantastic village pub. Menu had some distinctive dishes, with plenty of choice and the prices were very reasonable. The food arrived and I was really impressed how freshly cooked everything tasted. The place was busy and popular, little wonder. A really good find I'll definitely be returning to.
Hope and Anchor – Grange-over-SandsExcellent, polite friendly staff lovely food, piping hot well presented and very tasty. Would definitely recommend it and will visit there again when in Cumbria.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithWe've lived local many, many years. We were told the food was good there now. Tried it kast night. Absolutely lovely. This is not good pub food, it is proper gormet pub food. This guy, guys, gals, know what proper food is. I hear he's worked at Farlam Hall, that's Michelin star first year of opening kind of place. No wonder he knows. We'll be back very soon, thank you.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithWe looked forward to a return visit to this bistro after our last time in Grasmere around 2 years ago. Unfortunately our expectations were not met. The main disappointment was the French onion soup that we both had for starters, excellent last time at best average this time. My main was ok, the steak, and my wife thought her chicken chasseur was very good. Service was functional.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereI had the fish pie, which is absolutely crammed with fish. It is the best fish pie I have eaten since last September, when I was last in the Pheasant. Add the friendly staff to the quality and value of the food and drink and a visit to the Pheasant is a must. I've just got time for another meal on Thursday before driving home the next day.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickLovely Sunday lunch, with extra gravy and toasties. Delicious, thank you.
Hope and Anchor – Grange-over-SandsHad a meal at the Hope and Anchor. It was my wife’s birthday and the staff made her feel special. Lovely meal as well. Thank you.
Hope and Anchor – Grange-over-SandsGreat food. Very generous portions. Great beer. Lovely atmosphere. Serving staff very friendly. One of a handful of eateries in Keswick we would return to regularly.
