My visit to the Sultan in Lancaster was New Years Eve. Me and my partner usually stay in but decided to book a night away and an Indian meal for 8pm. When we arrived the lady on the front of house informed us there had been an error with the booking system and that she didn’t know who was arriving! We got seated at a table and ordered poppadoms and chutneys which came promptly. We then put in our full order for the special set menu for 2. One of the waiters came over after around 20 minutes and asked if we were ready for our starter, to which we said yes. Another long period of time passed and he came over again and asked if we were ready, so we said yes again. There was a big table in there so we understood they were busy. The starters came out after a while. The food was undeniably delicious. Once our starters were cleared, the same waiter asked if we were ready for our main courses, to which we said yes. There was a very long wait on food and it was obvious in the restaurant that they were struggling with service. We were understanding, although no one came over to inform us, which would have been appreciated. When the 2 tables next to us which arrived later than us were served and we had been waiting over 30 minutes after being asked if we were ready for our main courses we started feeling slightly infuriated. We then asked the waiter if our mains were on their way and he said “they should be”. Our main courses got brought out all separately, starting with curries, then the rice and potatoes, then the naan bread. Ideally, you want your main course to arrive altogether. Once again the food was outstanding, but the service really let our experience down! We asked for water to the table and no one came with any until we asked again. When we asked for the bill we waited a fair amount of time to see the lady on front of house occupied so when we got up to go and pay and she apologised for forgetting to come over. I’d rate the food 10/10 but the service and waiting times were not ideal. We arrived at 19:45 and left at 22:10 which seemed like a long period of time with no heads up on waiting times. I understand NYE is a busy night and can totally appreciate it but communication with customers would have been highly appreciated. Although the food was outstanding I am unsure if I would return as the service let our experience down. If you are happy to wait, the food is well worth it!

We had a fabulous evening celebrating New Years at The Lodge. The food was delicious and the service was great.

It's always a pleasure to eat in this restaurant. The chef really does know how to get the best flavours from the food that he cooks. We dined on New Year's Eve and had the most wonderful meal served by the very friendly and welcoming staff. We'll be back soon.

My husband and l have eaten at Tom’s Table several times over the months, so decided to eat there on New Years Eve. The food was exquisite, the service was fantastic and the atmosphere was lovely. All of the staff, and there was a lot, all had big smiles on their faces, were very pleasant and appeared to enjoy what they were doing. Tom deviated from the set menu to meet my dietary requirements , without hesitation or fuss. Not many restaurants would do this for one customer when they have a full house. Tom and Kate run a warm and very welcoming eatery, and deserve all the plaudits they get. We can’t wait to come back, when you reopen after your over due break.

Sam always goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and a valued customer. Food is always exceptional. Nureno kind and welcoming delivers excellent service every time.

I have visited the Lodge several times in the last five years, normally on the way to the Lakes. It is homely, uncomplicated, comfortable and honest. As is the food. Perfect

Delicious food absolutely spot on can’t fault the taste we had gratin, sea bass, trout and salmon superb service but it was really cold even winter boots didn’t stop my feet getting cold. However food excellent so no doubt we’ll be back!

Food was lovely as always. Bought friends who live in Northumberland and they were not disappointed with the food. Drinks took a long time to come, the restaurant was busy, but having to ask more than twice for drinks is not acceptable. We will still be back though!

Our first visit - live very local but never heard of it until an advertisement on local radio. Superb food and friendly staff. Great to have such a wide choice too - we will need to come back again and again and again!

New Years eve 2021 was absolutely amazing (as always) at Avucciria. Fantastic food, attentive staff and the best atmosphere. We loved it, thankyou.

Booked a table for 10 on NYE. 10/10 for service 10/10 for atmosphere 10/10 for food Fab-u-lous!! We will be back.

Outstanding! …..…..Again! We have had the pleasure of visiting A’Vucciria many times, we love the relaxed atmosphere, fantastic food and friendly staff. We are always made to feel welcome every time we visit, and it is our ‘GO TO’ restaurant of choice. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The food is fantastic. Sunday roasts are ace! Beautiful food, beautiful surroundings and fantastic friendly staff!
