Beijing Restaurant – BurnleyDrinking mojitos, eating jerk chicken and curried goat, best Sunday ever.
Turtle Bay – PrestonGreat Home cooked food and good value for money staff pleasant and polite.
The Park Inn – AccringtonA superior Indian restaurant in terms of food quality, presentation and their take on famous Indian dishes. Service was good. The food took a while to arrive which I saw as a positive. In many Indian venues the food appears in seconds, reheated. Here it would appear they cook to order. The Chapati bread was the best I have had as it was fresh and tender. Why do other lesser Indian restaurants serve old breads and popodoms? It's insulting that such basic foods are not fresh. The place looks a bit naff. Perhaps they think it cool and contemporary. We felt it looked dated, which is a problem with restaurants who go for trendy styling. Anyway, I went for a good curry and I got one. Would recommend.
East Z East – PrestonA really pleasant experience every time. I have been visiting the Borough for a number of years and not once have I walked away feeling disgruntled! Great service, delicious food and a perfect ambience for any social occasion.
The Borough – LancasterUsed to be a proper canal side pub with music and eccentric locals now it is just another restaurant. Nothing is done to cater for the loyal locals who kept the pub solvent or for the music lovers who came in droves from miles around to see and hear the cream of local talent.
The Ship Inn – OrmskirkTry their New Years eve package, excellent value, no added on costs for this night.
Great Land Cantonese Restaurant – ClitheroeA party of five of us including my wife and our two grownup kids plus one of their partners dined off the lunch time set menu to celebrate my wife's birthday and our anniversary .The choice of courses were impressive, I went for the twice baked smoked fish soufflé , this came with a mustard sauce , it was wonderfully flavoursome and set me up nicely for my main course of slow cooked pork belly , this arrived served on top of the best Dauphinoise potatoes have ever tasted accompanied with braised red cabbage and seasonal veg ,The pork was as succulent as you would find anywhere , again a massive thumbs up . I rounded things off with a superbly made autumn fruit jam roly poly and custard . The other party members had a mixture of Pate , soup and black and white pudding Roulade for starters followed by one fish and chips and three slow braised shin of beef . All rounded off by homemade cheesecake , sticky toffee pudding and a interestingly named Chorley rocky road . Again no body could find fault with any element of their meals . the service was attentive and polite ., the price was an incredible £14.95 for three courses. This is the best value for money and quality you will find for miles around.
The Kitchen Theatre – ChorleyWe enjoyed a very nice lunch at the Plough at Eaves last week. It was very busy which is always a good sign. We are going back for dinner soon!
The Plough At Eaves – PrestonLove the food, love the staff, love the restaurant. Great Food, not to be missed!, Would recommend it to you all!
3 Millstones Inn – ClitheroeExcellent service, lt's attention to detail. very welcoming, great atmosphsere, really enjoyed it.
Armaans Within the Park Hotel – BlackburnI am a chef and I was very impressed. The food and value for money is outstanding! I will be going again very soon.
Scholars Restaurant – BlackburnWell we live very locally to the renamed Fat Bull here in Wheelton and gave it the best part of a month to get up an running properly before we gave it a try but tonight we decided we would walk down and have a look. What a great welcome from the staff and a great reasonably priced meal to boot. We had a shared spicy nacho starter, my wife the burger and myself the steak and ale pie. All were a great success. In fact I had to finish a quarter of the burger as it was so filling. By time we left almost every table was full and it was a Wednesday night. I would have loved cask bitter rather keg but that is just a minor thought. We will certainly be back and I can now say we have a great local establishment that is not over priced as in its past guise it certainly was. In fact I will be looking to take family quite soon, probably stick to quieter weekday than weekend as the building is not the biggest but if service and food is as good next time then they are on to a winner if they can keep up the standard. Well done.
Red Cat – ChorleyMy husband and I visited The Fat Bull Sunday. What a really pleasant experience. Being a decent cook myself it was a lovely treat to sit and enjoy a couple of glasses of wine followed by an excellent meal. We got a really good feel for the place within 5 mins of arriving. The assistant manager was so relaxed and confident in herself we knew the food was going to be great as she promoted several dishes. She was not wrong! Every member of the team was really friendly and looked like they were happy to be there unlike some places you visit. Cannot wait to go again in fact we are going with friends this Sunday. I have told them they won't be disappointed.
Red Cat – ChorleyWe went to the grand opening of the Olive Tree Brasserie last night. First impressions were great! A perfect location in Preston at the Miller Arcade. Its cool and sleek without being over contemporary- which always dates so quick. It's airy and bright with its floor to ceiling windows on two sides. Open kitchen, bench and booth seating. Our canapes were a very good interpretation of the full menu. Juicy and succulent Greek and Mediterranean treats, served by young and cool waiting staff. I expect the restaurant will do very well and look forward to dining next time I'm in Preston.
Olive Tree Brasserie – PrestonAmazing food!!! Just returned from Waheed's with my dad after his friends at work told him to come. We usually go to another known indian buffet in Blackburn. I'm glad we came as the food and desserts were amazing. I particularly enjoyed the butter chicken and the desserts. So much choice. My dad really enjoyed the mango ice cream and he usually doesn't like desserts. We were looked after very well. The staff were extremely helpful letting us know we could have mint tea at the end included in the price. Whilst we had that the manager came over with freshly made Gulab Jamun (sweet doughnuts to myself and my dad) for us to try. They were amazing!!!!! I have to say it was extremely enjoyable and will defo be coming back :) thank you to the staff and manager for making us feel welcome
Waheeds Buffet & Banquet Hall – BlackburnAmazing food! Great service and very friendly and helpful staff! Definitely the best restaurant in Blackburn! Will be returning and passing on the good word to friends and family! Keep up the great work guys!
Waheeds Buffet & Banquet Hall – BlackburnOn a recent caravan weekend when the weather was miserable, my wife, my young daughter and myself decided to lunch in the Sun Inn. On entering ,the barman made us feel welcome from the start, the pub felt homely with a roaring fire in the hearth and the ale was as it should be. The food menu was fine and the staff were very accommodating and understanding of my young daughters eating preferences, the food itself was beautifully presented and cooked exactly to our taste. Needless to say we stopped rather longer than we intended, it was one of the few pubs these days where we felt completely at home and welcome. A very well deserving 5 stars from us. Thank you the Sun Inn.
