Vedas – TodmordenIf you pay the full prices in this restaurant, you would probably say , it's a bit pricey but the food and service were excellent. Go any night between 5 and 7 ( except Saturday ) and get 2-for-1 and you will be absolutely amazed. This is the best food we have had in a long long time. Also, as a bonus... 2 for 1 cocktails on Thursdays and Sundays !
Seasons – ChorleyI'be been going to this pub for their Sunday Lunch for the last year since reading the reviews on here. However, in that time, the service, staff friendliness and food standards have all slipped. We were 2 hours on Sunday for a main/dessert and the waitress was pretty rude to us because we were 10 minutes late for our reservation (even though the place was empty). The Sunday Lunch has reduced in size and increased in price. Won't be back for a while.
Farmers Arms – OrmskirkWe had the most delicious tapas here last night (Sunday). It was very quiet and only one other couple dined as we were there. We had pitta bread with 4 delicious dips, huge prawns in garlic (the best!) patatas bravas, fillet steak strips and chicken strips with african spices and scallops done in chilli and garlic. With a bottle of house wine and pre dinner drinks ofa pint of peroni and a glass of wine and soda, the bill came to £54.06, which we thought was excellent value. Having dined at their sister restaurant DUK in preston several times, we knew we would be getting quality food and they didnt disappoint. We shall certainly be returning to POND as soon as possible and highly recommend this restaurant.
Duk-Pond – PrestonApparently this was just a take away. However now its expanded into a restaurant acquiring next door. The place is immaculate with service to match. I was very impressed with my chicken Jalfrezi, both its quality and portion size.
Balti House – BlackburnThe menu seems more like a pub chain than it used to be, and prices seem higher than it used to for more standardised fare. There isn't as great a choice as previously, and although there is still a specials board the choice isn't as extensive. Went a few weeks ago, early evening, and they were out of all the starter specials. This was surprising as it wasn't busy. In fact, I've been since, and it was also quiet on that occasion. Although food and service ok, the menu and food isn't as good as it used to be. I'm guessing that there has been a change in direction by the management, after all it is owned by a large chain. This is a pity, as it used to give the impression of being more individual.
The Malthouse Farm – ChorleyArrived at the Waddington Arms a few minutes before they stopped serving lunch but they accepted our order. The food was excellent and good value and the interior is modern and comfortable. They also have accommodation which we wanted to try but were told that they get booked up very quickly (I am not surprised) and didn't have any availability but we will keep trying. I would definitely recommend the Waddington Arms go on try it you wont be disappointed!
Waddington Arms – ClitheroeWe ate here a week ago and although it was very nice it was expensive and the choice was limited. It was ok for a sandwich and a drink and all the food was locally sourced, there wasn't much for children apart from some ice cream which proved very popular.
Bashall Barn – ClitheroeI had to wait for a free table 1 and half hour when they had told me i had to wait half hour.the staff was indifferent and the manger was extremely rude, not attentive at all.my main course was overcooked and no one checked the meal back....i was deeply disappointed!
Tiggis Pizzeria – PrestonWhat a disaster! We booked a meal for 13....maybe this was an indication we were going to be unlucky. When we arrived they had not got a table for us all to sit at and we were subsequently split into three separate tables, not a good start. We managed to have our order taken after one hour. The restaurant only had diners at 3 other tables. Eventually after another hour 7 from our party were served and that was as good as it got. Needless to say when they had finished their meal and we were still waiting to eat, enough was enough and we walked out. The service was a shambles and it would have been much better if they had been honest and said they could not serve us.In fact it would have been quicker to order a take a way from the other part of the restaurant and have it delivered to our tables (as this seemed to be where they were concentrating). All our drinks were also taken off us ( the restaurant is not licensed) when we arrived and we had to wait yet again to be served with our own drinks. We shall not be repeating this experience!
Balti House – BlackburnAfter arrival at a Restaurant with much potential due to its popularity and decoration, things went downhill. With a large group celebrating a wedding anniversary, whilst waiting to be seated a round of drinks was ordered. We were informed this could however not be added to the bill, which is normally standard practice and that they did not have the facility for payment by card at the bar. Once seated orders were taken, and most of our starters placed on the hotplate, these were left for a long time whilst the rest of the order was completed. A number of the dishes ordered were incorrect and surplus dishes were also brought to the table. One member of the party had muscles of which a quarter were closed and another member of the party ordered scallops, of which only two were presented (a known expensive item but which do not cost £4.50 per scallop), unfortunately these re-appeared later in the evening in a manner which was not appreciated by the eater! The restaurant was very well staffed, however food did not seem to leave the hotplate quickly and plates were left at our table for a prolonged period of time. At the end of the evening a very strong smell of cleaning products appeared from the Kitchen area, and while it is good to know the place gets cleaned (even though the food may not be fresh) it is not an enjoyable smell when people are still eating. For a supposedly up and coming restaurant there are many more very good Italians in the Preston / Southport area which are far better and do not give the diners food poisoning.
Trattoria San Marco – PrestonDont bother booking a table here if you want a meal within 2 hours! We recently booked a table for 13 people for 8.30pm. By 10.30pm only 7 had eaten! the other 6 got fed up of waiting having only had a poppadom each in 2 hours!! The service was an absolute shambles with only 1 of the waiting staff who could actually speak english! We will be sticking to the Balti Stan in Clayton-le-Moors in future!!!!!
Balti House – BlackburnDined here with a group of night school friends in celebration of taking our GCSE in Spanish. Atmosphere was lovely, food was great, service friendly, meal offer meant we got to try some dishes we might not usually order. FANTASTIC Great local gem !!
La Salsa – DarwenMe and my friends have frequented Shahi Qila several times and had a good meal and the staff were great. Unfortunately the last time we went a few weeks ago we were not happy with food (over cooked and burnt) and the man who served us and cleared our plates was extremely rude and when we told the manager he just laughed.
Shahi Qila – BlackburnI enjoyed a very nice meal at Maxwells and I must say how devine it was, it is also a very nice place to eat, drink, and socialise in. I would go there again anytime.
Maxwells Cafe Wine Bar – Clitheroefantastic restaurant. cosy, clean, bright and airy. Servers are friendly and polite, and food is excellent. Menus vary from day to evening/weekend, special offers great value for money. Food very nicely presented and quick service we have eaten there in a party of 12 and a table of 2 and both times been very impressed. off peak (before 5 i think on a sat two of us had 3 courses and 2drinks total price £26!! peak time (Sunday evening) same thing was £33 but free bottle of wine for two people with evening dinner menu (£11.95 per person for two courses). phone to book as quite a small but popular venue
Left Bank Brasserie – OrmskirkThe food here was fabulous and a friendly service ,best Chinese take away ive had in ages. Ended up going three times on a one week holiday.
China Essence Restaurant – CarnforthVisited here on recommendation. Quite surprised by the place. Varied menu and reasonably priced. Decent choice for children (our three of 11, 8 and 3 were happy with home made burgers and ribeye steaks!) although definitely not a childrens'-orientated restaurant / pub (not a bad thing). The current wife settled on the venison and I had game pie. Both very good and obviously freshly prepared, followed by home made pannacotta and a blackcurrent sponge with licorice ice cream, both excellent. Second time visit to the Ribble Valley which thinks of itself as a foodie haven but not all its cracked up to be with the two other places we have visited previously (we're used to Angel at Hetton as a local so a place needs to be good to impress!). We'll definitely be back to this place though as there was a distinct lack of "look at me" about the place which seems abundant in Clitheroe and surrounding eateries and it was simply about a decent pub-restaurant with good food.
