Late sunday lunch I had the cod it was delicious would definitely recommend this dish. All food very good, service is excellent along with a lovely warm welcome from the land lady and her staff.

This was our first visit to the Royal Oak after we read the review in The Yorkshire Post recently. The portions were of a good size and the steak pie I had was huge and very tasty. However the chips I ordered were thin and and of poor quality compared with other places we have dined at. We felt the welcome and service could have been more friendly with better customer rapport. Parking was easy.

We came on Sunday as a table of ten the food was lovely and the staff couldn’t do enough! Will be back

The Sunday lunch was fantastic - probably the best roast beef we’ve ever had. Everything was perfect. The warmth of the welcome, and the efficiency of all the staff, made it a really super lunch. It is highly recommended and we will definitely return

Had the best time at Tabby Teas! The staff were so friendly, the environment is lovely and all the cats are adorable. It is so nice to see them so at peace but also so playful and living their best life!

A friend and I came Saturday lunch time. Lovely server and really helpful with wine selection. Always enjoy coming here and feel the value for money is worth it. You get to try unique wines and foods and it’s nice to have this variety local.

5 of us had a wonderful meal, the dishes were very tasty and plentiful. The service was brilliant and we were also made to feel very welcome. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside a credit to the owners. We’ll be back very soon.

Loved the ambience and the very friendly staff. Our food was excellent and beautifully cooked. I had the seafood moneybag, the sauce was amazing and my husband had the Barnsley chop cooked just the way he likes it. One of the best meals we've had in a while.

Our first visit to this place and it won't be our last. The food, staff and ambience were all great. I am a coeliac and therefore needed gluten free options. They had a separate GF menu and dessert menu too. I had a warm haloumi salad, it was one of the nicest I've ever had, delicious. We'll be back!

Traveled from Tadcaster to Hull on Friday night to Sample some of the best food I’ve ever tasted. After first seeing the restaurant on only scrans I thought I best book a table asap. It didn’t disappoint I’ll be back again.

Great food and staff. The acoustics made it very noisy. Quite a few large groups who contributed to the noise. Staff excellent but too too order two drinks at a time as can be quite a wait for your drinks. Would I go again. Yes for the food which was top draw. Don’t expect an intimate location.

On the positive side, the steak pie and game pie were enjoyed and the burger was okay but the two portions of vegetable chow mein were completely lacking any flavour. One portion was bigger than the other with lots of vegetables but not many noodles, whilst the other was full of noodles but with less vegetables. This dish was extremely disappointing and certainly not worth £16.95. Additionally, one of our group was disappointed not to be able to have steak as there was none left. As this was a long-arranged birthday outing with family coming from a long distance, complaints about food would have spoilt the evening so we chose not to take it up with staff. Service didn’t compare with the majority of places around here. We felt hurried with constant checking of whether we had finished. One coffee was served with a saucer full of spillage with no recognition. Unfortunately, the table we sat at was uncomfortable as there was insufficient room to allow the chair to be drawn close to the table. We are sorry to be negative but on this occasion there were too many issues and we came to regret our choice.

This was our first visit to the restaurant, I can’t believe we hadn’t found it before. The staff were really friendly and took time to explain the different dishes and made some great recommendations. The food was fantastic, it’s probably some of the tastiest food I have eaten in a long time. We didn’t have cocktails, but the ones that were being served up looked really good. We will definitely be back again to try some of the dishes we didn’t try last night.

I don’t go here often enough. Warm and friendly staff, great food and atmosphere.
