I visited what the local call 'The Shoulder' after a walk up the nearby Holcombe Hill with my fiance. The pub sits right at the bottom of the hill and is ideally placed for those who have built up an appetite after a walk. We shared pate for starters. I say shared because it's not the usual smaller portion you may get elsewhere. The presentation was also great. For the main course we both plumbed for the fish and chips. Largely down to seeing it being brought out to other tables and getting food envy! The fish was good and cooked in fresh crispy batter. The chips were great also big chunky chips served in a mini steel bucket! Temptation then struck and it was good old sticky toffee pudding to finish off. Great food, great location and good service. The pub has a great atmosphere and if you like your ales as I do then I recommend the Timothy Taylor Landlord. Cheers
