Really great food, excellent service. An excellent all round experience.... Would highly recommend.
Millon Restaurant – OldhamThis is our joint favourite Chinese restaurant in Manchester by far! Its the sort of place you go when you're in the know rather than a run of the mill Chinese. Prices are average for an in town restaurant but worth every penny....the food is exceptional. Try the traditional clay oven roasted pork Cantonese style....a mouthful to order but a taste sensation that typifies the quality of the food. Service is very good...attentive yet not overpowering. The decor (recently updated) is excellent and adds to the quality feel of the restaurant. Go early or book as its always full (a good sign). Excellent City Centre choice.
The Rice Bowl – Manchester City CentreReally good night out. The food is pretty good. I can't fault the service - friendly and efficient. The bar staff have a great knowledge of cocktails and can make anything you ask for.
TGI Fridays – SaleBig Name big expectations, average experience. Well on a wet Sunday afternoon at 6.15pm nipped in to the Gaucho, the place had around 20-25 diners, seemed understaffed as the service was dreadfully slow. Saw the service pick up after observing the team brief at 7pm. Soft shell Crab 4 pieces, £17, was ok, like a light tempura batter with the 1/2 lemon and alioli, was not greasy, nothing much to shout about. The waiter mixed up the order for the seafood platter, we ordered the main course but arrived the starter cold portion; we did not say anything as we were in a hurry! Rib Eye was cooked to perfection, and was a good quality matured steak. The waiter forgot the salad to go with this. however the mangeress on duty was I think the star of the show, alert and hovering the tables talking to all tables and guests. She took immediate action to organise the salad. Bill £74, for bottle of still, 500ml of rose (served in a cheap water jug.............come on Gaucho find a better carafe!!)and 2 starters and 1 main course. Yes the place is visually stunning, chairs and most of the restaurant seemed to be covered with a sort of black and white cow patches, did not dare to as if this was from the real cow! Great bar and seating area around it. Sloppy service at these prices is not expected. the place when we left at 7.40 had in total around 35-40 diners, around 1/3 full, Dread to see what the service is like when they are packed to capacity.
Gaucho – Manchester City CentreThis place is brilliant - 4th time here, very clean and efficient service - no rush to finish quickly, variety of starters and main courses to suit to everyone. Chicken and Fish dishes out of this world!! Thank you for a great meal - recommend to anyone.
Buffet City – Manchester City CentreDespite passing the restaurant 3-4 time s a week we had never eaten there. One reason was my wife never wanted to eat Indian food. When some friends came over and really fancied an Indian meal my wife agreed after reading the Sugarvine reviews. Frankly we where all amazed! The food was very good, with a bewildering array of dishes -all first class, with some interesting variations on old favourites. Service is always first class and the restaurant has a really pleasant atmosphere and is always spotlessly clean. You'll probably gather from this review that we've been back on several occasion (twice in one week - at my wife's request) - Now surely there's no better recommendation than that!
Cinnamon Indian Cuisine – WiganI recently went to this restaurant with the girls from work. The food and service was excellent, the staff were all friendly and welcoming. I had a sizzling tika dish it was gorgeous. My friends said it was the best Indian food they had eaten for a while and would definitely go back.
Standard Indian Restaurant – UrmstonWe have been coming for the last 6 years and think this is by far the best in Manchester. Please don't change!
Little Yang Sing – Manchester City CentreThis is my favourite restaurant in the North West. The dishes taste fabulous are beautifully presented and the staff always have a smile (we have a favourite waitress - thai dress - but I can't remember her name) Anyway, I strongly recommend a visit - I don't think you will be disappointed
Nam Ploy – BoltonThis is my favourite restaurant in the North West. The dishes taste fabulous are beautifully present and the staff always have a smile (we have a favourite waitress - thai dress - but I can't remember her name) Anyway, I strongly recommend a visit - I don't think you will be disappointed
Nam Ploy – BoltonBeen visiting this restaurant for a number of years now and can honestly say we have never been disappointed. Service and food is always excellent and the weekday specials are great value for money. They will always accommodate changes to the dishes e.g. my husband always asks for chicken in the carbonara and penne pasta rather than spaghetti and requests like this are never a problem because everything is freshly made. You can visit more expensive Italian restaurants nearby but you will get less quality food! I would highly recommend this restaurant - it's worth a try for a cheap weekday meal or a nice weekend treat.
Casa Nostra – WesthoughtonVERY DISSAPOINTED! I attended Sanuk on 28/06/08 for my girlfriends birthday. There were 6 persons in our party and the restaurant all be it small was busy. To begin with i had to ask several times for the staff to turn the air con off as it was on full blast on my neck. We waited around 30 minutes before our order was taken which gave me long enough to look at the menu, although 30 seconds would have done, unless ur a fish lover this is not the restaurant for you! There are only 2 starters which does not contain sea food. After the starter we were given a desert menu and our table was tidied away, that was until we pointed out we had not had our main course. Staff very friendly but given the fact the restaurant was packed out there were only 2 waitress's and the manager. Main course was on the small side, and was hardly the tastiest meal i have had. More effort went in to decorating the plate with actual flowers.....yes actual flowers tulips, roses.....after 2 hrs we were ready for the bill which nearly knocked me off my chair £190 for 6 persons with a couple of drinks (some soft drinks). I wouldnt have minded if the food was top notch but i was very disappointed. Much nicer to go to a local chinese/thai take away. People reading this may think another bitter customer displaying his anger.....your right however this is the first time i have ever made a review about anything let alone a restaurant. I can accept that the staff were workin hard and the restaurant was busy....however it was a saturday night at 7pm if they cant cope with the demand on a saturday evening then there in the wrong job. Do not go here for a 'quick' bite to eat or if you have any taste buds.....much nicer places to go in didsbury than Sanuk.
Swadesh – DidsburyI have been going to the Owls at Standish for about 14 years, its a lovely place to eat, good food at good prices. If you havent been yet,you should.
The Owls At Standish – WiganI used to Live in Oldham a few years ago and Simla was the best and still is the best Indian Restaurant!! I travel 90 mile round trip to visit this restaurant. Beautiful food and great service!!!
Simla Inn Tandoori Restaurant – RoytonThe Windmill offers great value money in terms of the restaurant. However getting served is a different matter, esp. in the vault. Whilst the majority of the staff are great, there are one or two obnoxious individuals who spoil it for everyone due to laziness. Anonymous
Windmill – AudenshawWe went to the River Restaurant as my leaving meal - group of 7 people on a Saturday evening. We were lucky to have had the opportunity to have the 777 menu (all courses £7, fantastic bargain!) The restaurant looks great - bright, clean, welcoming, luxurious. We had a table by the window overlooking the river terrace. The attention we received from the staff was excellent & our meal was out of this world. We all had wonderful dishes & very impressed with the quality of the food, dish composition & taste. It was the most amazing offer & I have seen it has been extended until later this year. I would recommend the River Restaurant & would go again without a doubt. It would also be nice to just have a coffee or drinks on the terrace overlooking the river, weather permitting. Just go!
The River Restaurant at The Lowry Hotel – Manchester City CentreWe tried the Wiggin Tree early evening on a wet Friday. Having witnessed the recent renovation whilst regularly passing it in the car I expected good decor and ambience. I was not disappointed, a rustic edge and slightly old fashioned but not too twee, deceptively large dining areas and background 'chill out' music all gave good first impressions. A little surprised to see the lunch time menu was still operated up until 6pm but the choice was reasonable and prices not excessive. We selected the stilton and watercress soup as starters which was tasty although the accompanying crusty bread was soft and uninviting. For mains we tried the home made burger and roasted peppers. A little disappointing, the burger lacked taste and I had anticipated chunky seasoned chips instead of the insipid fries dished up. The pepper was, at best, okay but needed to be served hot, not luke warm. We shared a desert, the apple and gooseberry crumble, which was not only big enough but, pleasant to taste and hot. In all, a decent place to sit and eat, reasonable prices but food is only average.
Wiggin Tree – WiganExcellent, authentic and cosy restaurant. Tastefully decorated with objet d'art in true Persian style. Ideal place for either a romantic meal, a group of friends or someone eating alone. The food was really exceptional, full of subtle flavours. The meat was perfectly cooked and really tender, as was the rice. I would highly recommend this restaurant. The service was so friendly and helpful. The chefs were so humble when we complimented them on the high standard of their food.
