My friends and I went on Friday the 15/02. We had a wonderful meal, wonderful wine and guess what...... the service was wonderful! Top marks all round.

Lead Station – ChorltonHi lovely valentines meal, however ran out of cheese cake and could have done with a bit of romantic music and a candle on the table etc.
The Owls At Standish – WiganI took my wife there for her birthday on SAT 16th FEB , what can i say. it was fantastic from start to finish. The food, the staff the atmosphere. We like to eat out at least 3-4 times a week and this has to be the best by far.If any-one likes to eat out like myself GO TO THE PACIFICA CANTONESE.You will not be let down. GREAT FOOD,GREAT PEOPLE AND GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY.
Pacifica Cantonese – EcclesAfter taking a long time to find, (going up and down Deansgate), me and my friend found a very unpretentious restaurant: it was El Rincon. You walk downstairs and find yourself walking into a medium sized room with typical Spanish pictures on the wall i.e. bullfighters and even Maradona himself. I was very unimpressed by the place itself and when the waitress sat us down, I found myself looking in at the kitchen (which was directly opposite to where I was sitting) which didn't seem the cleanest. Anyway most importantly, the food was lovely. Me and my friend wanted to just order the Paella but the waitress told us it would 30 minutes to cook so we would be better off getting a tapas to pass the time. We opted for the prawns with dips and the chicken done in a paprika sauce- which was gorgeous. We shared our tapas and when the Paella finally came, we didn't even eat half of it. Probably thanks to the £1.50 bread aswell. The bill was £32. Well worth it. The best restaurant I've been to in Manchester, so far.
El Rincon de Rafa – Manchester City CentreLammars is the worst place in manchester to eat. I went there for my 30th Birthday, ive never seen anything like it. If you want food poisoning this is a fantastic place to go.
Lammars – Northern QuarterWent early on Saturday night, and it was quiet [perfect for couples!]. Very nice atmosphere and good food although the portions are small, so you need to order more than 'normal' tapas! Not cheap, but hey, booked in again for Valentines, so must be worth the money.
Ambiente – WorsleyI live next to china town, but I come here for asian food. Why? A big bowl of steaming spicy noodles for a fiver, unlimited quantities of green tea for 95p, a decent starters menu and now an excellent albeit small menu of deserts. Particularly recommend the banana and ginger ice cream. What more can I say.
Fuzion Noodle Bar – FallowfieldCalled in for the first time - 11/02/08 - and have to say that the food is un-believably good - as was the service. Beautiful, friendly pub, and I can recommend 100% Thanks to Landlord Ash, and all the staff.
The Black Ladd – OldhamMe and Fiance thought we'd stop here for a quick and easy bite to eat. It was appalling! After waiting 10 minutes at the entrance a waitress finally approached us. She told us that we'd have to wait another 45 minutes for a table. So me and my fiancé decided to wait in the bar area and order a few drinks. After our drinks we waited again at the entrance to the restaurant for another 10 minutes! The waitress bluntly told us that there was still no tables (even though she had wrote our names down on the seating planner). She advised us to eat in the bar as it would be quicker. In the end me and my fiancé ended up leaving to go somewhere else. I am never again going to this restaurant, the service is horrible, the waitress's are anything but professional. Do not go, you will be disappointed!!!!!
Heaton Park Beefeater – Cheetham HillOwned by a millionaire, i doubt it! This venue is owned by a leading chain, who believe in tasty, quick food with excellent service
Wiggin Tree – WiganGreat nite, the staff are very attentive, good prices, really nice food. highly recommend!!!
Millon Restaurant – OldhamOn Thursday 6th February 4 of us had a stunning meal. I choose from the special menu: stuffed peppers, then the tuna. These were first class. The waiter was brilliant and the espresso perfect. The house red was very good value for money and we all had a good evening. The other guests choose from the large (perhaps too large) menu and all were delighted. Thank you!
Olive Garden – WiganWent to the New Emperor on Sat night and thought it was the worst experience in China town Manchester so far. Service was extremely poor, staff were rude, two dishes had hairs in them. We sat down to dine at nine, ordered straight forward banquet option for 4 people and service was so bad we didn't finish until 1am. The rude staff even started to hoover around us. The bill was also expensive considering the poor quality of food and service. Definitely one to avoid.
New Emperor – Manchester City CentreWhat a shame, we have been looking forward to this restaurant opening for a nice eating experience but it was a let down. The setting is fantastic although the lighting at the bar needs addressing as we couldn't browse the menu because it was so dark, A few big candles would have helped the situation. The food left a lot to be desired, but it is early days and maybe they can get it right
Ambiente – WorsleyWas hear on 8th February 2008, for my fathers 60th birthday, arrived booked for 7pm, took until 7.40pm to be shown to the table. Starters where prompt, however as the main courses arrived this is where it all fell apart, food was lukewarm, asked 3 separate staff for steak knives, these arrived 15mins later after all the vegetables had been eaten. Complained to the manager and one of the steaks where mainly grizzle this was sent back. By the time the knives arrived my steak was cold and this was replaced, hence I ate on my own with all the family watching me. Manager was apologetic to my mother and then had the ordasity to present us with a full bill less one steak that had been returned. My brother attempted to discuss this with the manager, whom informed him he was sick of his mouth. Hence we left and did not pay any of the bill. Left contact details and we are looking forward to there letter in a timely fashion, which if the evening was anything to judge will be late and lukewarm. WONT BE RETURNING. I suggest you give it a wide berth, if is chaos gone mad and the staff and especially the management leave much to be desired. The staff do not even ask if the meal is alright or have you enjoyed your evening. Basic stuff
The Owls At Standish – WiganFab food. Very busy at lunchtime but worth every mouthful
Katsouris – Manchester City CentreThe food was nice enough but unfortunately not the service. We were told it would be a 40-50 minute wait but ended up waiting almost 2 hours with a full seating area which is understandable on an early saturday evening. Six thirty to be precise. There were plenty of us and We were told upon arrival that we had to have a set menu for that reason and not able to choose anything. We were rushed like cattle and offered no dessert or coffee. We had had all our food within an hour and then when we asked for more drinks the waiter rolled his eyes. When spending four hundred pounds you expect a lot better than that. On a more positive note, the naan bread was delicious and if you prefer a less rustic and more modern restaurant then this may be to your liking. Just dont go in a large group.
Akbars – Manchester City CentreWow kebabish have finally cracked it. Say goodbye to shabby diners and take away joints and say hello to this swanky new addition. The exterior doesn't prepare you for whats inside. Tastefully decorated with the open grill the centre of attraction. The food was amazing, mix grill is out of this world and would feed an army - its huge! Go KO!
