The Boat House – Parkgate

Went sunday. Had a great meal, slow cooked lamb cooked to perfection, roasters crunchy, vegetables perfect... My partner had asparagus with crispy bacon, a dish easily overdone, this wasn't... altogether a memorable meal.. We both really enjoyed it, as well as a great view from the table. Good value for the price.. We will return..

The food at the Plough Inn is superb and the Sunday roasts are a delight too. Looking forward to next Sunday when I shall be dining there again.

Absolute waste of time. Be aware...I saw this place on a week day and thought about taking my partner and friend there on the weekend. The cakes look amazing and above the cakes, you also find the pricing, panninis, coffees, cakes, etc...So, we choose what we wanted based on the pricing displayed and after 25m waiting for 2 panninis we received the wrong order. No problem, here...so we wait more 10m, the coffees were cold...we didn t say nothing bec if we don t like a place we just don't go back. The worst was to come...my partner and our friend paid while i was waiting outside. Surprise when she came out and said...we just paid £30 for 3 people for breakfast!! I couldn t believe bec something would have to be wrong...so we went inside and find out that there was no mistake on the bill. What had happened? They advertise the prices on the board at 2.50 for a panini while you choose what you want and when you actually pay, the prices rises from 2.50 to 6.50 for a panini bec you ate in the coffee but they don't tell you that before. What a great catch. When we told her this they didn t know what to say...obviously not, that s a great catch!!!So the next time you go, make sure you don t fall in their trap. Miserable people that will do anything for money...

I would like to complain about the classic burger i had on the26/5/13 has both me and my sister had 1 and both thought they tasted more like soya than beef and seeing we wanted a beef burger not a veggie burger we both found them very dissapointing.

Just been out for sunday afternoon walk with wife , daughter and dog along shropshire union canal. called in at bunbury arms for drink and maybe food.. sat in beer garden at back of pub. on way to get drinks both me and wife managed to step in dog business which was in abundance on the grassed areas ( where people were eating). cleaned ourselves up and proceded to get drinks . one pint of san miguel and two lime and sodas (1/2 pints). charged me £7.23 pence. I know the pub trade is having a difficult time at the moment but 7 quid !!!!!. we never bothered with the food. After recommendations of friends was a bit disappointed.

I've been to the limes many times, each time I am surprised at the size of the portions. The drinks are large, and the food is very tasty. I am going there now for my dinner! Think I'll have a steak and Salad tonight mmmm. The service is very attentive and the atmosphere has always been very nice.

I have been to The Romper three times now and delighted each time, though at around 7pm so not busy. I have found the service excellent and tend to have a starter and a main course and only regret it because of the quantity.I keep vowing I will forgo the starter but find the goats cheese salad too tempting.

We have eaten there twice recently and cannot fault the standard of service or food. The bar is buzzing but the restaurant is quieter. The atmosphere is happy and busy and the staff cannot do enough to make sure your evening goes well.

Neptune FIsh Bar is a great way to enjoy traditional Fish and Chips. The welcome is always warm making you feel like your a customer visiting a restaurant. The menu choice is wide and meets your expectations, but not that busy that your confused by the choices or baffled by what they are. It is extremely clean and fresh and the staff are dressed smartly and clearly take pride in their worK. My fish looked great, it tasted light, fresh and the batter was perfect. The chips were not pale and scared they were chrisp and perfectly browned. Give this place a go , but not too often for the weight watchers, unfortuantely I cannot resist.

My wife and I visited The Romper whilst on a walk on Easter Sunday 2013. We expected the pub to be busy but found it very quiet. The first table we picked to sit at after buying two drinks we were told that it was reserved, even though it had no sign on. We then moved to another and then the waiter changed his mind saying we could sit at the original table. By this time we had sat down at an alternative table. We ordered dressed crab as a starter and the beef Sunday lunch. Just as the crab arrived my wife noticed her bottle of Becks had a best before date of December 2012, over 3 months out of date. The barmaid changed it for a Peroni. The crab was very nice but the writing was on the wall. When the Sunday lunch came it was swimming in very dark gravy poured over two slices of a braised style beef, Yorkshire pudding and two roast potatoes which appeared to have been deep fried to reheat them. The vegetables were mangetout peas, carrots, broccoli and young sweetcorn. My pieces of beef were reasonably tender, however my wife's were extremely tough and grisly, like it was a different piece of meat. We asked for two different pieces of meat instead. After a wait a re-plated bowl appeared with just as much gravy covering everything again. These new pieces of meat were worse, I couldn't even cut it through. My wife was still hungry, so she decided to try a dessert, bad mistake. The choice of 5 desserts included rhubarb crumble, which my wife had decided upon, however the waiter came back to tell us the lemon cheesecake and rhubarb crumble were not available. My wife chose caramel apple pie with custard. The dessert arrived steaming hot, but when examined the whole 'pie' was a gloopy mass of microwaved uncooked pastry. We sent this back and decided enough was enough. We paid the bill and left, never to return.

I wouldn't normally bother leaving a review, but this place deserves it. Was here a couple of nights go, went to the cinema and popped in here for a meal beforehand. Absolutely excellent. The food was beautiful and they were big portions, lovely atmosphere, so warm and cosy and even the staff were friendly and polite. It's just a shame I live 20 miles away, or I would be here every week!
