Sage and Vine – CarlisleOur second time at this restaurant as we enjoyed the first time around. Delicious food, great atmosphere and excellent service. Good value for money. We will be back next time we are in Carlisle. Thanks for a lovely dinner experience.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleBeen coming to Grasmere for around 6 years now but this was our first experience at dining at Lewis's Bistro. What an amazing gem we found. The Bistro itself looks beautiful and well set up and we just knew we were going to have a great night. The food was simply amazing. A medium rare steak for main and a lemon posset for desert always capture my eye while dining out but the highlight was the Black Pudding stack for starters. That packs a punch. My wife's Lamb Rack was her highlight but literally the whole night was a delight. Being in the catering business ourselves, we know that attention to detail and great customer service is second to none and I must say, all boxes are ticked here. Great chatting with you Lewis. Definitely returning and a place to cherish. Lee & Lisa
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe were recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint! All the food was great, we went for the smell plates but can’t wait to go back and try the pizzas as well! Great friendly service, would highly recommend.
Sage and Vine – CarlisleExcellent vegetarian Sunday lunch. Very creative, lots of delicious veg. Followed by a great caramel tart. Made very welcome. Staff friendly and helpful Back in two weeks!!!
Harry’s Cafe Bar at Yew Tree Barn – Grange-over-SandsThe best Sunday roast ever. Highly recommend
Pheasant Inn – KeswickOur 2nd visit food was great and dogs allowed that’s a bonus for us
Pheasant Inn – KeswickGreat to have the Sunday lunch back again, -- the standard is as good as before, -- excellent. People with large appetites will be happy at the quality and quantity of vegetables.
Harry’s Cafe Bar at Yew Tree Barn – Grange-over-Sandswe had roast Vension and caseolet , both very tasty and not bad value for such good food. Staff very friendly .
Farmers Arms – UlverstonLovely atmosphere, attentive service. Excellent
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleBooked the Sunday Night Special which included the Sunday Roast and Breakfast the following morning. Order was taken for our Sunday Roast and arrived 15 mins later and looked promising, however it was not so. The meal wasn’t hot at best it was luke warm and the broccoli & cauliflower were under cooked almost still raw, the mash and carrot/swede mash were very tasty just not enough as with the roast potatoes (only 2). The topside of beef was ok as was the Yorkshire pudding. Following our roast we ordered the Sticky Toffee Pudding which we had eaten there before and once again it did not disappoint it was the best part of the meal. One other downside were the two uncontrolled children at another table whose parents weren’t interested in calming them down just wanted the rest of us to know about their recent holiday. It was a relief when they left. The following morning we had our breakfasts which again were very good and plenty of choice.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeIt’s always been an easy option, when staying near Penrith, to walk to a local pub for a meal but after a bit of research we drove to Penrith. We certainly made the right decision. Friendly staff, great food ( beef cheeks and the filet steak were cooked beautifully) Would certainly recommend Grants of Castlegate to anyone staying in the area
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithOur 6th or 7th visit to this lovely bistro in Grasmere, and once again it did not disappoint. A warm welcome on arrival, the staff remembered us from our last visit a year ago! The restaurant had a lovely comfortable atmosphere. The food was delicious. I had the starter of Hummus & pita , my husband had the olives & bread, both dishes were plentiful. For the main meal, my husband had the lamb rack with various veg ...he thoroughly enjoyed the lamb, perfectly cooked! I had the chicken dish which was very good. Ice cream to round off a very enjoyable evening.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereHad booked in advance, dined early evening, 22/11/24 food was exceptional, great selection of drinks, made to feel welcome. Only slight niggle was that it was a little cold in the dining room. Would definitely eat there again when in the area.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickLoved it ! Service was excellent, wine was great and food was delicious! The manager looked after us very well and all her team were great too !
Sage and Vine – CarlisleGreat atmosphere - lovely food and service excellent
