Excellent meal and cheerful service as always on our annual visit to this area. Our only regret is that the choice of pies has reduced to just 3 since lockdown. Would not miss going for a meal at least once while up.

La Mezzaluna – CarlisleAn excellent friendly pub with a great reception from the staff. The pies were really good and the puddings were fabulous, the ladies inour party stuggled with the ham on the ham and eggs course, was rather dry. Other than that it was really good. We will be returning.

La Mezzaluna – CarlisleFood was as you might expect: decent, tasty, no complaints, but nothing exceptional. Staff weren't as attentive as they might have been however - we had to wait a good 15-20 minutes for our table to be ready and we didn't get a hint of an apology, and when we first entered it took a fair while for anyone to look up from the bar and acknowledge us. Throughout the evening they became a bit friendlier, and it wouldn't have been enough to put me off returning, but it wasn't the best way to start an evening.

Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereQuality food, freshly made and served with a smile. Very friendly and relaxed atmosphere and very dog friendly. I took advantage to walk our dog Ralph up to Fairy Steps 50 years on from my last. We will definitely be back.

We found the staff very friendly and the Sunday roast was very good considering how busy it was. It’s clear that there was some love that went into the preparation.
