Experience at the Wheatsheaf, at the weekend was exceptional. We had booked a table for a birthday celebration and due to the numbers (10 people and 4 dogs), we were offered a table upstairs, which was beautifully arranged. Unfortunately on the day, one of the guests obtained an injury which resulted in them being unable to walk upstairs. The staff were amazing and did everything they could to accommodate us downstairs, so we could still all sit together. As a result, we had a fantastic night, the food, drink and service were brilliant. Thank you, to all the staff at the Wheatsheaf!

Excellent meal, we both chose different dishes and were equally pleased with quality and quantity. Good service and friendly atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights in the Wheatsheaf and would happily return.

Excellent meal on Saturday 15th April the scallops were delicious and my husband who is gluten free ate every mouthful of his steak and loved the strawberry cheesecake service was great and is definitely our favourite restaurant in Grasmere

Another lovely meal at the Wheatsheaf, we use it as the lunch option for walks in the area (with people coming from Manchester and the North East) and have never been disappointed. We will be back.

The Kats Kitchen staff were very welcoming and the food was amazing. Even a call too say we had left an umbrella. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely food, well cooked and tasty. I’m vegetarian so not a huge choice for me but enough and it was delicious. My husband had the fillet steak which he said was beautifully cooked. It was full and had a great atmosphere and the service was faultless.

Lovely food and service. We opted for the chicken dishes which were served with excellent roasted veg & homemade chips. Good value for money.

Had a super time, lovely place, friendly staff and fabulous food

We felt that the food arrived far too quick, inside 10 minutes, almost as though we were being rushed out. The menu is very limited and we knew this but had assumed there would be quite a few specials. There were about 4 specials but not a great choice. I picked the chicken burger off the specials and my wife picked the salmon with potatoes but misunderstood that this came with cold uncooked vegetables. Anyway, my burger was ok but he chips were thin fries like McDonalds fries with a small limp side salad. My wife said her salmon and potatoes were ok but she want keen on the abundance of raw carrot, cucumber and raddish! Overall, we were disappointed and probably wouldn’t go back. Also, we are both slim and not big eaters who normally only eat one course, but we both needed a desert to fill ourselves up!

enjoyed a meal for 8 on sat night, service was faultless, food amazing,the waiter even noticed my pint had about 1 quarter of inch too much head so took it away to top up.its this kind of detail that will ensure a return visit and a glowing report to all other lakes walkers.well done to the staff !
