Lovely atmosphere, great food, terrible service
Paulo Giannis Ristorante Italiano – KendalI recently took a party of 32 people for a birthday celebration on a sunday lunchtime. We had pre-ordered our food from 3 different menus as we had a number of people travelling after the meal. The food was of an excellent standard, service was excellent but not intrusive. The team there took care of the birthday cake, offering to cut it and serve it, whatever we wanted them to do. I cannot commend them highly enough. Many of our party were local and vowed to return for another meal. I shall certainly be going there again
Oily’s – WorkingtonGood food at very good prices. Excellent portions. Varied menu. Recommended.
Parkside Hotel – Cleator Moorreally good value for money, food excellent, very busy when we went had to wait but well worth it.
Turf Tavern The – CarlisleFor anyone considering going to this dire cafe, think again! The coffee and food on offer were admittedly OK, but the service was absolutely appalling. We should have realised before we even entered this awful establishment that the reception would be dreadful - the poorly worded notice on the door prohibiting prams and buggies did not suggest that the cafe would be family friendly - but the offhand and aggressive attitude of the manager was our main complaint. Even though we spent a reasonable amount, she refused to refill our small water glasses without charge (because it would cost her to wash the glasses). She was unnecessarily rude and undiplomatic, and we have advised numerous friends with guest houses in the area not to visit this hostile cafe.
Cafe Treff – AmblesideLovely little Tea room, just wish that they allowed little dogs in on cold wet days...no where in Ulverston allows dogs which is a shame as there are so many delightful walks around the town.
Gillams Tearoom – UlverstonI went to Oilys with friends on a Saturday night, the place itself is really nice but that's as far as it goes. Each time we went to the bar and bought the same round of drinks the prices we different every time, when we questioned this we were met with an arrogant reply from the lady owner. When the food was brought out late there were no apologies, it was cold and undercooked, the chicken was raw inside and when it was returned to the table it was the same chicken but microwaved. At the end of the night one of the "chefs" came from behind the bar and accused us of stealing an candle stick holder, i'm sure if was a male customer he would not have been so rude. Don't eat here.....ever!!!!
Oily’s – WorkingtonI visited oilys at the weekend with my family for a pre-christmas get together, and Christmas meal and must say the food and presentation were exemplary. the service was very good even though the restaurant was very busy and the amplifier of the place was very relaxing. we did not have to wait for our meal. the staff serving use were very competent well groomed and polite. i would recommend a visit to Oilys. and give it *****
Oily’s – WorkingtonNipped in for a coffee and listened to some good music downstairs in the bar whilst doing some work on their free wi-fi connection. Top place!
Siennas Bar and Steakhouse Grill – Keswicka wonderful place to relax and enjoy fine handmade chocolates. a warm welcome and friendly faces. there are lots of gifts to choose from and a wide range of chocolates i could spend forever there.
Kennedys – PenrithIf you visit Ambleside I 'd like you to join the great meals here because it's real and very tasty. The staffs are friendly. If I chance to come back I will visit again.
Doi Intanon Thai Restaurant – AmblesideI love the fact that unless you know its there you wouldn't find it! The walnut bread is always delicious, and they make the coffee to your requirements. Add to that all lovely children's things its fantastic

The Sun Inn – PenrithFantastic restaurant recommended by friends and the best place we have visited in carlisle for a long time!
Keez Bistro – CarlisleI cannot wait to go back to Amigo's again, I was with a party of four booked in on a busy Saturday night. Even though the staff were extremely busy they were efficient and remained helpful and friendly throughout. The restaurant has a real Mexican feel to it and yes I do know it is a Mexican restaurant but it pulls the look off in a casual yet authentic way. The menu incorporates a vegetarian choice and also offers steak and chips for the less adventurous but if you like food that is colourful, flavoursome, interesting and above all else delicious then look no further.

THE SALESMAN AT VW RECOMMENDED TRYING OILYS FOR LUNCH, WE ARE SO PLEASED WE NEED TO RETURN TO COLLECT THE CAR AS IT IS THE PERFECT EXCUSE TO DINE AGAIN IN THIS FANTASTIC ESTABLISHMENT. WE WERE GREETED BY TWO MEMBERS OF STAFF WHO WERE BOTH VERY POLITE OUR ORDER WAS TAKEN AND I WAS A LITTLE WARY AS THE PRICES WERE QUITE CHEAP HOWEVER THE FOOD WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD I ORDERED LASAGNE WHICH HALF OF WHICH MY HUSBAND STOLE AND HE HAD SCAMPI WITH PROPER CHIPS. WE ASKED TO COMPLIMENT THE CHEF WHO CAME TO SPEAK TO US, HE SHOWED THE EVENING MENU (WHICH WE WILL BE SAMPLING) AND WHEN HE FOUND OUT ABOUT HOW FAR WE HAD TRAVELLED HE MADE US A BEAUTIFULL BEEF BAGETTE TO TRAVEL HOME WITH.
