Merienda – CockermouthWe stumbled on this place by accident as every other Restaurant was fully booked. It was our first wedding anniversary so we were looking for something special and this place certainly delivered. The staff were excellent and really seemed to know the menu and the food... Well all I can say it's a very long time since I've eaten any thing so good in the UK! Perfectly cooked and presented. Would definitely suggest paying a visit to this place if you want to have an excellent meal in a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. 10/10
Matthews Bistro – AmblesideHad an excellent lunch here last week. The jacket potato with a trio of salads was absolutely delicious. It was beautifully presented and the service was fast. Good value for money. Will definitely go back again.
Miller Howe Cafe – GrasmereMy wife and I dined at the Troutbeck Inn on 26/09/08 and had the finest meal we have ever had.We have booked to return with a friend in 2 weeks. The ambience was perfect and the staff very attentive and helpful. It will definitely be one of our regular treats.
Troutbeck Inn – Penrithsimply the best place i have eaten in carlisle, great food, atmosphere and service with a fantastic hand picked wine list. has amazing mid week and weekend deals, has to be tried to believe
Keez Bistro – Carlisleworst meal in a long time...the starters were ok..but our order wasn't written down so inevitably my husband got the wrong meal ..my meal of tuscan mixed beans in a rich tomato sauce was tasteless and should have been called tuscan slop!..both were sent back and we didn't bother ordering anything else as it was at this point i noticed how dirty the surroundings were...thick with dust everywhere..god knows what the kitchen was like...unfortunately it ruined our celebrations for our 1st wedding anniversary..
Casa Bella – KeswickThe best chinese restaurant ever. We always book a table when we go to Keswick. It's always best to book as it is very popular. Good menu, good service good food, good position, in centre of Keswick.
Silk Road Chinese Restaurant – KeswickI stopped at this hotel approximately 2 weeks ago and it was a wonderful stay. I had a Lamb Henry with mint gravy for my supper and it was exactly how i was hoping for and more... i would recommend this place any day.
Agricultural Hotel – PenrithEncouraged by good reviews we were pleased to be able to get a table at this restaurant. The surroundings were very nice and we looked forward to a pleasant, light, Thai meal. The staff were attentive, welcoming and polite. Having placed our order, however, we were very surprised when it arrived within about five minutes. The waitress informed us that this was because they had four chefs working in the kitchen (a strange comment we thought at the time). Unfortunately the food did not benefit from having too many cooks. A simple noodle dish which should have been fresh, tasty and light was stodgy, with what appeared to be omelette through it. The noodles were sticky and the chicken tepid - there were very few vegetables. We decided not to stay for desert. The only bonus was a very nice bottle of a Thai hibiscus and wine spritzter which can be recommended. Other customers seemed to be enjoying their meals, so I cannot understand what went wrong with ours - possibly a wrong choice, but it takes a seriously bad cook to make such a mess of noodles.
Jintana Thai – WindermereFantastic and the best Indian food by far i have tasted!!! TOP notch nosh!
Indiagate – Penriththis place is a rip off, when we went there were police there arresting the owner for selling drink to people who are under age and then charging a fortune on their bill. the owner is rude and very nasty as we asked for the bill he had a go and said that we never had starters or desert so he added an extra 25.00 on the bill, what is all that about?????? the best place to go is cagneys in poenrith it is alwys busy and never lets people dovn. the takeaways are fantastic and the company of the owner (hawk) is very nice to talk to i wish i went here first instead of wasting my night and money in indiagate. STAY AWAY FROM INDIAGATE
Indiagate – Penrithfew good things to say about this restaurant to be honest. i would not recommend it to visitors to grasmere. i would choose another one of the fantastic restaurants in grasmere.
Saras – GrasmereAfter reading numerous positive reviews on the Drunken Duck, felt I had to comment on how disappointed my husband and I were when we dined in the restaurant recently. The bar was lovely with a nice relaxed atmosphere, can't complain about the beer either. However we were shown to our table in the 'new' annexe of the restaurant and was greeted first of all by a rather unpleasant smell. I admit I have a rather sensitive nose, but the smell continued for the duration of our meal. Not a good start. Our food was average but extremely over priced. Seasoning was generally clumsy and the additional vegetables we ordered (herby potatoes) were boring. Maybe they were having an 'off' night ? certainly shan't return for a second opinion.
Drunken Duck Inn – AmblesideI recommend this place if you want nice food - and a manager who is just RUDE! Who will shout and embarrass you! 8/10 for food -10/10 for customer service!!
Briery – WorkingtonMy partner and I went to Keez for the first time yesterday evening and we will definitely be going back. The staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout the evening and the surroundings comfortable and smart. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals as the food was nothing short of excellent. Having the option to return to the seating area to finish our wine after the meal was a real treat. I have already been recommending Keez to my colleagues this morning and cannot believe that I hadn't found the place sooner-what a gem of a bistro!
Keez Bistro – CarlisleFANTASTIC FOOD AND GOOD SERVICE, BEST FOOD WE'VE HAD IN YEARS. VERY GOOD PRICES.
Francos – CarlisleBeen going there for last 6 years... Excellent food and very good service. Owner, Nurul, very friendly and helpful. 10/10
Akash Tandoori – WhitehavenWorse Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. Waiters were rude, seemed to be a rush to get us out off there as quickly as possible and snatched plates from our table we have not finished. everything was so oily and full of MSG. 20 pp for a meal for six which had a starter of chicken and sweet corn soup ( which has probably been kept in a warmer all day), unnaturally red looking red fatty pork ribs for a second course and a for main course a starch abundant greasy selection. forced us to pay 10% service charge for the rude service. Do not go there. Takeaway quality food.
