The Old Gate Inn – MatlockSimply our go to restaurant. yesterday was our 4th time there in 8 weeks. Everything on the menu is superb and they make the best Old Fashioned i have ever had.
Baileys Bar and Restaurant – BuxtonMe and my grandma had a joint party here for our 18th and 70th birthday party and it was amazing. The followed all our requests and the room was decorated perfectly. All our guests enjoyed it very much. Thank you for making our event one to remember.
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldAbsolutely gorgeous meal Sat night! Highly recommended. Only suggestion would be to add a cheese board to the menu for those of us trying to reduce our sugar intake!
The Two Hares – GlossopWe recently enjoyed a sharing meal at The Two Hares in Glossop, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. The standout dishes for us were the lamb and the whipped feta – both were beautifully prepared, packed with flavour, and clearly made with great care and attention to detail. Every element of the meal felt thoughtfully crafted. What really elevated the experience, though, was the incredible staff. Their knowledge of the menu was outstanding, and their genuine passion for the food they were serving shone through in every recommendation and conversation. It's always refreshing to be looked after by a team who are so enthusiastic and proud of what they do. The combination of exceptional food, warm hospitality, and a welcoming atmosphere made for a truly memorable evening. We would highly recommend a visit to anyone looking for a special dining experience in Glossop. We can't wait to return!
The Two Hares – GlossopOur 3rd visit in 8 weeks and rapidly becoming a top 5 favourite restaurant of ours. The service is superb and the food is excellent. Good value for money and absolutely a place to take friends or recommend to anyone. Love it.
Baileys Bar and Restaurant – BuxtonThe table was laid out beautifully for afternoon tea to celebrate my husband's birthday. The many sandwiches, savouries and cakes were delicious. There was plenty of tea, coffee and hot water available along with drinking water. The service was great from all the lovely staff making our celebration really special. We will certainly be having other delights at Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe.
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldAnother wonderful meal at Two Hares. There is such a wonderful atmosphere here. The food is incredible- highly recommend the butter bean stew! A massive shout out to Nadia who brings so much joy to diners and makes such recommendations. She was front of house on her own and still managed to make sure everyone was happy. She makes Two Hares!
The Two Hares – GlossopExcellent. Great restaurant quality food at pub prices. Fantastic choice of good wines, the best wine I've had in a restaurant at £23 a bottle! Unbelievable service. Sixteen of us and hot food delivered to all at same time with no hiccups. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and even with sixteen of us I could hear conversations from the other end of the table. If you are looking for somewhere to eat in Buxton then make sure you go to Bailey's, you won't be disappointed.
Baileys Bar and Restaurant – BuxtonGreat old pub, with very attentive and friendly staff. The food was simple but excellently cooked and served. There was also a good range of beers.
The Old Gate Inn – MatlockGreat lunch and surroundings, tremendous staff.
Renishaw Hall and Gardens Cafe – ChesterfieldGood food in a traditional country pub setting. I would recommend and would definitely return when in the area again, Food and service was consistently good on the three consecutive nights that we dined at the Gate.
The Old Gate Inn – MatlockThe food was amazing and our Waitrose was excellent. Love everything about this place and can highly recommend.
Baileys Bar and Restaurant – BuxtonHad Sunday menu late afternoon. The food was lovely, they catered for the children with gorgeous fish and chips. Really appreciated a proper piece of fish for them. Couldn’t fault our plates of food.
The Two Hares – GlossopThis is a difficult one because of what happened after the tea. It was booked as a treat for a friend who is going through a rough patch, one regular one vegan afternoon tea menu. The tablets was beautifully decorated yet my china cup had a long crack on the in and outer side, which was changed at my request. The vegan tiered food came with a good scattering of savoury, fruits and sweets. Mine was extremely disappointing, all savory apart from the sweet scone, jam and clotted cream. I had been anticipating and expecting some interesting cakes. My companion was satisfied with her food although she felt the bread was a bit thick. We were the only ones in a very large room off the main café which is possibly why we felt forgotten. We didn't get the service we expected but had to rely on catching a member of staff as they walked past into another part of the building. I had to ask for sugar, I had to ask for more hot water, I had to walk and find someone for a takeaway box. At the end I waited around expecting to be asked how everything was, but no one approached us. At this point I am feeling very, very disappointed especially compared with previous visits. We both said we would prefer standards had been maintained and prices increased if that is the issue here. But then I went in the shop and the lady behind the counter asked how we enjoyed our afternoon tea. So I told her - and she immediately said that wasn't good enough and rang someone, who came down to see us, apologised and offered me a refund. I declined and instead asked if I could have some cakes to take home, which she duly conjured up along with an array of berries. Mistakes happen and if you judge a business on how good they are on resolving them, then they get 5 stars.
